I've been getting headaches for months -- i had 2 revisions a little
less than 2 years ago (due to a blockage) and since they we've
determined that my shunt (i have a non-programmable VP shunt) is now
fixed and working. I started going to a neurologist who works with my
nsg whose determined that i have migranes (with a lot of them coming
from muscle tension) however, in an MRI taken earlier this year he
noticed that there was some fluid in my neck area -- which could
possibly be the cause of the neck pain I get when I get a headache. I
tried taking Topomax for about a year til I decided that while my
headaches aren't as intense (as in I can function with them) the neck
pain is a "pain in the neck" (excuse the pun of words). In
consultation w/ my nsg I was told that the fluid in the neck is not
dangerous and is there b/c i have a narrow neck opening (so i guess
the fluid gets stuck there?)
Since i recently stopped the Topomax we haven't determined what to try
next (although he tells me there's other medications to try) since we
were waiting to get the results of the latest MRI i took the other day
(just to make sure that nothing has changed).
