My husband has had hydro for three years now going on 4 he has a vp shunt. I am sure alot of you are familier with that. However what we find unusual is everytime we go to have sex (make love) his stomach hurts. At this point we have tried different positions and that doesn't make a difference either. I was wondering if there is anyone else in here that has the same problems and what you do about it. thanks for the input.
I must say that's a real drag. It may help if you elaborate more. No I don't mean THAT.... I mean where is it hurting him? The same spot all the time? Is it on an incision or along the shunt line? These can be very sensitive to touch and/or pressure. For example, my wife is the only person (aside from a doctor) who I would allow to touch my head where I had surgery.
However, my neck, along where my shunt is located, I don't even let her touch me there. It irritates me just too much.
Of course, because he's "new" to all of this, having only had a shunt for a few years it could be something else, depending on what happened to him (head injury, meningitis, etc.)
I don't pretend to have an answer. I don't even pretend to be able to relate. But I do know that at times I am just too sensitive to the touch and that I can relate to. I'm not a doctor and can't diagnose him. I can't even offer reliable advice. Because it sounds like it's ongoing it may be something for a doctor to look at - one he can trust to take the matter seriously.
Or maybe someone in our viewing audience has insight that I don't have. I wish you luck.
