Hi I am new to the group. I have a daughter who is 11 months old.
She had a shunt placement at 5 wks old. I had noticed her head
enlarging, and getting purple. We talked to her pedi and had a
sonagram. A few days later she had her surgery. She has been doing
well since. Knock on wood. Recently my husband was laid off from
his job. We are opting for Cobra as of now, But can not stay on it
forever. I have looked into individual policies. Everyone is saying
that she can not be accepted because of her condition. I have also
looked into state funded programs like CHIP, and medicaid and those
qualifications are based on the previous years income. Our income
for the previous year exceeds the levels of acceptance. I am just
trying to find out what our options are in case work with benefits is
not found. Who knows with our economy the way it is today what
tomorrow will hold. Does anyone have ideas or suggestions on medical
coverage? Thank you. Misty
