Hi everyone! I am 43 years old and have a 6 year old with hydro-
resulting from her having an IVH (brain bleed)at a few days old. I
have read everything I could get my hands on since finding out. With
her starting school this year I find a whole new set of worries. I
sometimes get conflicting info on how to handle her IEP and what she
should be doing or not! Her neurosurgeon said she can fully
participate in PE whereas our family doc. said no contact sports. I
have read Hydrocephalus-The book and it says lots about no
gymnastics and such. I sided with my family Doc in deciding no
contact sports. Has anyone else out here had to go through this IEP
process and how did you handle it? After meeting with the principle
and nurse and a few others last spring I figured the IEP was a done
deal. I found out at my daughters parent teacher conference that her
kindergarden teacher had not been informed of her condition nor had
her PE teacher. I was shocked and worried! Should I have to check up
on these kind of things to make sure they are being followed thru?
Thanks for letting me vent. I would appreciate any and all replys!
