Re: [Huntingtons Disease Support Club] Feeling confused

Cassandra,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I know what you mean about her death not
being a shock. It is hearbreaking to see a loved one go through so much. My
sister in law has Huntingtons Disease along with her two brothers. She is not
in quite the shape they are, but you can tell it is very possible it could
happen in the near future to her. She tested positive about 10 years ago.

It is very hard to be on the outside seeing what is happening to her. Her or my
brother never talk about Huntingtons. It is like if you don't say the word it
will go away. She has had many traffic accidents in the last year and life is
just not the same for her. She has difficulty thinking and working through
daily living and falls quite a bit. My brother will be retiring from work next
year and it looks like it will happen just in time to really help her. She just
turned 60.

I have done a lot of research on Huntington's just so our family will know how
to deal with her changes and try to be of some help for her.

I am sorry you have no one to talk to. I would love to talk with you anytime
you would like.

Connie

two weeks ago today. She was 49 years old. I was diagnosed in 1998 at
the age of 23. I know that my mother was suffering and that she has
been sick for a long time. With something like this, it isn't a shock
when they go. It is sometimes a little difficult to look your future
in the face, though. I don't really have anyone to talk to about it.
Nobody really understands. I don't expect them to unless they have
grown up with this Disease as I have. I am glad that I found this
support group. I think that it is exactly what I have been needing.
