RE: [Huntingtons Disease Support Club] My sister testing

Hi all. I would agree with the counseling thing as well. I'm not sure
but I've heard (third party) that they can do sperm testing but I'm not
sure about egg testing to allow people to have clean kids, it would be
worth asking the clinic about during counseling sessions. My daughter
was tested 2 years ago but she was already symptomatic and already had a
child prior to us learning the disease was in the family. Her brother
is at risk as well as her son, her brother every once in a while talks
about the possibility of getting tested (23 yrs old) and of course I
would be there with him but I'm afraid I can't encourage him to do it
yet since I don't think I'm totally over the onset of my daughter
(Juvenile HD) at such a young age. You might consider, if possible, to
go with her in person to receive the results. You may even be able to
receive some pre-test counseling in your home state at the same time she
is going through it so you can help hold her hand and fears through this
time.

Hi Carol,
I don't have an answer but I wanted you to know the
fact that you asked the question makes you a good
sister already in my opinion. Has your sister decided
to go through couseling before her test or not. Has
she see a neurologist yet? My best friend tested
positive last March, but was already symptomatic and
had chosen not to have children because of the
symptoms she had.
