Re: [Huntingtons Disease Support Club] nursing home

My dad and I were taking care of my mother for years,
when do to her mood swings and us never being home
because we both needed to work, we had to put her in a
home. We actually had an ambulance pick her up one
night when she fell, and we refused to take her home.
In our area of PA, the hospital was forced to find a
nursing home for her. We were lucky though, because
my sis-in-law's father was in a good nursing home, and
we were able to put her there.

My mom is the only HD patient at that home. But the
staff has been really great about doing research and
finding the best way to help her. The HDSA sends out
a social worker once a year or so to see how she's
doing and to update the staff.

Is there any possibility that you can get in-home care
with medicare/medicaid?
