Yes, unfortunately you can be denied life insurance and other types of insurance if you test positive for HD prior to having the insurance before testing. There was a law passed recently in the US making it illegal to be discriminated based on genetic testing results, but it's rather difficult to prove you were denied coverage because of the results.
How old are you? How familiar are you with HD? Testing to see if you carry the gene shouldn't be taken lightly and you need to think about different things prior to testing. It took me almost 10 years to finally decide to get tested, so I understand what it's like trying to decide to get tested or not.
I'm more than willing to talk to you about testing and answer any questions you might have about the process. It's an individual decision whether to get tested or not...but I strongly recommend thinking about how you'd handle the results if it's positive and if you are ready to hear those results because once you find out there is no going back to being "at-risk".

I am at Risk for huntingtons I found out that my Aunt tested posted for it and I am most certain my mother has it. her mother and grandmother both had it. My mother has not been tested yet ( still in denial) in some of my readings they say if you want to get tested that you should pay out of pocket for the test to keep your results private however I don't that kind of money. I want to know either way so I am prepared is it true that insurance companies and life insurance company's look down on this diease? Any suggestions? ? Thanks
