Oh my goodness!! JANET!!!!!! I can't even explain how excited I am to have found
you
again!! You have to know that the reason I ever did this was because of your
inspiration
and dedication of the group. It helped me in so many ways..I don't think you
will ever
understand the magnitude of it all. You have inspired me so much!!! I am jumping
out of
my skin and can't wait to call you!!! It's 6:00 am so I won't do it now
(chuckle) but I will this
afternoon!
I am doing very well and keeping busy! Anya is amazing and very energetic, as
you may
remember. She turned two in May :)
I would love to meet up for lunch or something or I could stop over to Parents
Place.
Where in WP is it?
I am so excited to have crossed paths with you, Janet!!!!
Katherine - Thanks for the warm welcome and I look forward to meeting you soon.
Currently, I do not do postpartum doula work (aside from support groups)
however, I am
looking for a doula who will be able to fulfull that need. I do however, commit
myself to
labor doula(ing) once every two months.

I second the Parent's Place accolades. They basically helped me raise my first son. I hold a special warm spot in my heart for them! Say hello to everyone for me!
For the professionals on this list this is a wonderful place to refer any new Mom. The newest immigrant to the wealthiest Westchester socialites sit together and laugh and cry about being a new, or old, parent. It is the best kept secret in Westchester, IMHO! They are also very savvy about services of all kinds for families.
I am sorry that I will also be missing this meeting. I have an appointment that evening. I will see everyone in September.

Thanks for all the names and numbers of Chiropractors
who practice the Webster technique. I passed them on,
but as is happened, my friend didn't have a chance to
get to anyone. Her membranes ruptured on the 4th and
contractions came on pretty fast and furious. she went
in soon after to find she was 6 cm. Fairly soon after
that she had an emergency Cesarean due to fetal
distress. Not too sure of the details as I'm getting
them from her mom. Her mom said it was a good thing as
she had a "paper thin window" in her uterus and "could
have ruptured at any time" (VBAC). Apparently my
friend is pretty upset with the outcome.
Any local support groups/ therapists I can recommend?
Again, Thanks.

Unwinding in Birth
A Birth Works International Enrichment Workshop
The universe is always in motion. The human body is a part of the universe and therefore is also always in motion. For a pregnant woman, labor is an important time to keep the body moving to encourage and facilitate movement of the baby down into the pelvis. In this workshop, the first of its kind, you will experience moving your body following its own natural rhythm and also experience its cranial sacral rhythm. The knowledge about how to give birth is born inside every woman and therefore does not need to be learned because it is instinctive. Unwinding is instinctive and helps a woman access that part of her that already knows how to give birth. Once unwinding is experienced, it will never be forgotten and a woman will know how to follow the innate wisdom of her body as it moves during labor, viewing it as her guide.
The Kobrins are a husband and wife chiropractic team in Hartsdale. My midwifery practice has sent patients to them for Webster technique.

I've been out of town the last couple of days and just read this e-mail. If it isn't too late I would highly recommend Dr. JC Dornick in Eastchester (Eastchester Family Chiropractic). He does a lot of work on pregnant women, and is very experienced with the Webster technique. He also has a wonderful appreciation for the natural process of labor and birth. He and his wife took my classes a couple years ago with their first, and have subsequently had a second child. I also have heard wonderful things about Joan Fallon. She has been in the business for years and years, but my understanding was that her practice focused on children.
Anyway, here is Dr. Doornick's info:

I just learned that Trina Marx of Hudson Chiropractic in Tarrytown -- who worked wonders for a client of my last winter -- has recently passed away. I don't know of anyone else in the region.
(oh,and I'll just mention that my friend's induction is being justified by her "failure to progress" prior to the start of labor. That's a new one to me.
Her body is apparently failing her because she is only 2 cm dilated now. Amazing. )

Sneak preview the all-new Yahoo.com. It's not radically different. Just radically better.
Excellent thought, Nancy - his name is Stuart and he's in Ossining, but I'm spacing on his last name. He's not a member so I can't look him up on my database, but one of my co-leaders has records from all of our meetings and should have his contact info assuming he signed in when he attended (he's been twice). I'm running out to teach, but I'll send a message to Jocelyn and ask her to get me the info asap...thanks!
How about that guy that comes to your Holistic moms network meetings? He mentioned he's a chiropractor and does the Webster technique. And a guy who goes to holistic mom's meetings for his own education by himself without his wife? What could be better?

Just called my chiropractor and although he doesn't perform it, he recommended Joan Fallon (didn't have a number, but thinks she's in the New Rochelle or Yonkers area).

Thank you for this WONDERFUL group. I will be moving to Georgia and
continuing my work with the Baby Signs® Program there, but have to
tell you all that I am nervous about finding birth support like this
in Georgia. I have had 2 wonderful homebirth experiences with my
midwife, Martha Roth and doula, Pamela Steele and hope to find a
midwife/doula half as good as them the next time around.
On a side note,we still have a very strong network of Baby Signs®

you need that could be of a support to Hudson Valley Birth Network

Hi.
I am looking for a referral for a chiropractor in the
area (lower Westchester) who practices the Webster
Technique. I've got a VBAC friend here who is 40 weeks
and a day, desperately fighting off induction,
especially as her baby seems to have now turned
posterior. I just learned that Trina Marx of Hudson
Chiropractic in Tarrytown -- who worked wonders for a
client of my last winter -- has recently passed away.
I don't know of anyone else in the region.
(oh,and I'll just mention that my friend's induction
is being justified by her "failure to progress" prior
to the start of labor. That's a new one to me. Her
body is apparently failing her because she is only 2
cm dilated now. Amazing. )
Any thoughts or referrals welcome!
Thanks.

Dr. Alain LeGuillou is a pediatrician at Full Circle Family Care in White Plains
(421-1500). He
is very holistic and is also a specialist in homeopathy. Many of our midwifery
patients use
him and speak very highly of him.

It really depends on what you are looking for in a pediatrician. I too used Goria Edis (who is very close to retirement now....if she hasn't already) and thought very highly of her as a clinician. Several of the mothers that i have worked with through the years have felt that she was a bit abrupt and not very warm. I did not use her as a first time mom, so these weren't qualities that I needed. I liked Dr. Bookner in her practice. Dr. Lee, who I believe is still with her practice was way too fast to perscribe medication for my taste. There are many pediatricians in the WP area that are GOOD, but ones that are open to alternatives and willing to support a first time mother with her questions and concerns is a bit challenging. I have been very satisfied with my dealings with a group on Central Ave in Scarsdale. I don't know the name of the practice, but two of the doctor's names are Levy,
Cosme. Beth Shulman has also delt with them and they refer their patients to her...which is a WONDERFUL sign that they are truly supportive of breastfeeding.
There...my 2 cents. Sorry I carried on for so long!

Dr Gloria Edis nad team at Scarsdale Pediatrics. Top of the line. I am an RN and thus very critical of medical personel. I was so pleased with the care both of my children received there. Dr Edis has so many outstanding achievments. I now live in Dutchess county and had to leave the practice. Believe me, I seriously considered traveling to her.

First, thank you for an enchanted evening yesterday. I was so happy to meet with you all, and had a great time (worth every minute of my hour drive in each direction...).
I am forwarding an email I got from a woman who's looking for a doula (EDD 6/23, Yale New Haven Hospital, CT). I am now working with a client too close to that date, and my fellow CT doulas are busy too. Can anybody help?
Thanks

Hi Sivan, I am looking for a birth doula for this birth, I did not have a doula for my first, (wish I did in hindsight!!) I had a relatively successful hypnobirth 2 yrs. ago, but a 3 hour pushing stage where the midwife was too loud, too barking at me to
work harder!, work harder!, etc. which left me quite UNrelaxed, and discouraged. I am hoping for doula support this time to assist me in keeping up with my relaxation during that stage. Rachel Bee recommended
you highly. I know it is late to be looking/asking - so please contact me as soon as possible and let me know if you are available, and then we can meet and/or talk further. Also, if you are not available, maybe
you could recommend someone?...my phone number is 203 - 259-6602. I look forward to hearing from you!
