"The Case Against Elective Repeat Cesarean"
Henci's completely revised and updated talk has everything you would
want to know about VBAC versus Elective Repeat Cesarean (ERC),
including:
a.. Do ACOG's VBAC guidelines make sense?
b.. Is ACOG's position ethically sound?
c.. What are the tradeoffs between planned VBAC and ERC?
d.. What are the consequences of multiple VBACs versus multiple ERCs?
e.. Who should labor?
f.. What scar rupture rates and VBAC rates should be achievable?
g.. What policies and practices produce the best outcomes in VBAC labors?
"The Limitations of Evidence-Based Medicine"
Childbirth reformers have long hoped that the research evidence would
become the basis for determining care, but this has turned out to be
somewhat of a case of "be careful what you wish for." Join Henci in an
exploration of what's wrong with EBM, what's right with it, and the
problems of medical-model based research. Presentation will end with a
baker's dozen tips on how not to get duped by the research.
