Hi Erica,
It is illegal for an insurance company in New York State to refuse to cover
midwifery care
for any pregnant woman who wants it. This is part of the NY insurance law, and
believe
me, every insurance company knows it. The only loophole is if someone has
insurance but
it's not through the legal definition of an "insurance company". There are some
companies
that are self-insured, and are not registered as an "insurance company" in NY.
Connie Young just retired, and anyway has not done OB for years. Her partner,
Diana
Oquendo, is still in practice but only doing GYN.
Christina Veit is a reproductive endocrinologist. Regular OB is not her thing.
Stanley Mendelowitz is retired.
Mark Mendelowitz is mostly retired.
Larry Mendelowitz and Sarina DiStefano are the remaining docs in Sleepy Hollow
Medical
Group, and Ingrid Deler-Garcia is their midwife. They are all great.
I don't know the other docs.
If she wants to pursue Full Circle, please have her call us, and we can help her
figure out
her insurance situation, no obligation. We deal with this all the time...
