The 3 hour glucose test is a fasting test. She cannot eat after midnight the
night before, and
in the morning she can have only water.
To be the most accurate, she should load up on carbs for 3 days prior to the
test. We don't
require this, sometimes people come in the very next day after the 1-hour test
is too high.
Just tell her to have a pasta and bread dinner the night before.
If she has gestational diabetes, she wants to know it!! The sooner she is put on
the proper
diet so her glucose can be in good control, the safer it is for her baby. No one
should ever try
to eat in a certain way to make the test look better than it really is. Carb
loading will show her
true colors, which is what you want.
