The Bridal Shoppe - I am willing to share this idea with the rest of your entrepeneurs because it has nearly worn me out. In Dec. my friend Jan and I talked with Dana and Pritchard Adams, long term missionaries, when we were in Cap Haitian. They came up with the idea of a shop that rented bridal gowns, since Haitians cannot afford to buy them. They decided they could set up a shop for one local family to run with a beginning inventory of just 10 gently used gowns. Since Jan and I have been very competitive for the last 57 years, it became a contest. It was slow going for me at first and I feared that I would have to marry and divorce another 4 times to make my quota. Then our enterprising young associate pastor got an article in the Atlanta Journal. In the past week the gowns have been flooding in and we now have doubled the inventory - and that's with the wrong phone number of the church being listed. I am afraid to publish a correction. So for a small donation, Jan and I are willing to offer a franchise in other cities in Haiti. For any of you that want to promote this idea, the only guidelines we were given is that brides in Haiti come in smaller sizes that in the U.S. and they dress more modestly - the dresses must have some sort of sleeve and no plunging necklines. And if this week finishes out as well as last week, I may have some surplus stock to share.
