A number of the people who volunteered to serve on an informal
steering committee, to plan the next steps of the HSC Support
Network, met in Chattanooga on August 27th. Following a lengthy
discussion to define the role of the Network, the consensus was that
the Hospital St. Croix Support Network is comprised of people
involved in numerous programs serving the Leogane area. There is no
one congregation or group in charge of the Network. It is and must
continue to be a cooperative effort. The needs of the various mission
efforts and programs are different, however the point of commonality
is the hospital and the Leogane area. It was decided that the HSC
Network is NOT a fundraising entity nor would it take on that role in
the foreseeable future. It was recognized that the task of
fundraising is under the initiative and direction of the HSC Board.
With that clear, the discussions continued concerning ongoing support
and probable next steps.
A more detailed review of this meeting and notes from the conference
in Ann Arbor are now available on the HSCeNews web site
(http://www.hscenews.com). The conference notes can also be found ar
word documents posted to the discussion group.
The Committee agreed to continue to support and enhance an
infrastructure for communication. Next steps for the HSC Network
Steering Committee will be to consider when, where and what format
there will be for a 3rd Network Gathering. Persons who had
volunteered at the June 2005 Gathering to be on a steering committee
will be contacted to begin that planning.
Your comments and participation are invited.
