Dear Ms. Mahler,

Medical Benevolence Foundation / Project CURE in partnership with
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance will begin providing immediate relief for
victims of the ravages of Hurricane Katrina. The doors of the MBF / Project
CURE warehouse in Houston are now open to receive Presbyterian Disaster
Assistance shipments and boxes.

The needs of the survivors of the storm are great as most have been left
with nothing but their lives. Many are homeless and have no place to live
now but in shelters. Presbyterians across the country are already hard at
work in ways to help meet the pressing needs of these people. The Medical
Benevolence Foundation / Project Cure warehouse will be the drop off center
for all personal health kits and Hope in a Box kits that Presbyterians are
putting together.

It is ironic that the PC (USA) vice moderator Rev. Jean Marie Peacock's
congregation, Lakeview PC in New Orleans, had just this week scheduled a
mission trip to the MBF warehouse in Houston March of 2006. Today she and
many members of her congregation are without a home and quite possibly a
church. The following is an excerpt from her email that is posted on the
PDA website.

"We are safe and arrived today [8/31] at the home of my parents where we
will be living until we can return to New Orleans. From newscasts it appears
that it could be weeks or months before we can return. We have seen overhead
shots of our neighborhood where the water is at the rooftops, and we suspect
that is true of our home and that we have lost everything. The congregation
that I serve [as associate pastor] is in the Lakeview area, one of the first
to be inundated with water after the levy broke. We suspect that many from
our congregation, who live in the neighborhood, have lost everything and
that the church is filled with water.. "

Not everyone had a place to go after this disaster. The poor have been
particularly affected as they do not have the resources to rebuild or
relocate. Even personal hygiene items seem a luxury to those who are now
living in shelters.

The Gospel will continue to shed radiant light by way of loving and helping
hands during this disaster. As we meet the needs of these who have been left
homeless God will provide opportunity to tell the simple story of Jesus and
His love for all.

Please prayerfully consider joining MBF to help these people in one or more
of the following ways:

* Pray for those who have been affected by this tragedy and for those
who are responding quickly to His call for action.

* Prayerfully consider financially supporting the MBF / Project CURE
warehouse during its relief efforts in partnership with Presbyterian
Disaster Assistance. You may give online in support of shipment and
supplies. Call 800 547-7627 for more information.

* Put together health kits for those who are displaced and living in
shelters because of Katrina. Please go to this link for the directions on
what to include in the kits.

Ship prepaid to: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
MBF/Project Cure
10250 Westheimer
Houston, Texas 77042

Please note: For any truck deliveries, you must first contact David Fox, MBF
warehouse manager, at 832-251-2489, to schedule delivery. ONLY these two
kinds of kits will be accepted at the warehouse at this time.

of the MBF/ Project CURE relief effort donate online at www.MBFoundation.org
