Dear Supporters of Hopital St. Croix,
I am a Biological Anthropology student at Boston University and
I am extremely interested in joining up with the team of volunteers
working in Haiti. My father is Tom Anderson, a seasoned veteran and
outspoken supporter of the effort in Haiti. He has brought to my
attention a number of opportunities to volunteer and learn at the
Hospital there or in one of the mobile medical clinics.
I am interested in volunteering for a one, two, or three week
stay at any time during this summer. I would be willing to lend a
hand wherever needed and I would definitely be interested in
observing and aiding the physicians, opthomologists, dentists, and
nurses working there.
I've gotten the opportunity to work in human disease labs and
learn the ropes of medical anthropology in the last two years at
Boston University. I've also had a good deal of experience with the
French language and I will certainly try to brush up on the Creole
dialect at the Boston language institute before the summer.
I understand that travel and lodging would be at my own expense
(which really means my dad's expense). I have a valid passport. I've
done mission work with Parkway Presbeterian Church in The Virgin
Islands, Virginia, and here in North Carolina. Rev. Dan Wilkers of
Parkway is a good reference of mine and I've had the opportunity to
serve on church mission trips alongside him on a number of occasions.
I've also helped to organize a Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser and
I've put in some time as a volunteer with AIDS care services and the
Samaritan Inn.
If there are any open spots for me this summer, please contact
me via e-mail: (
CraigAnderson84@...). I am looking forward to
being a part of the good work.
Thanks,
Craig Anderson
