Chuck and I wish we could be there for this momentous occasion!  We will be with you in spirit as we prepare to leave for Haiti the following week on January 16 for our mobile clinic week.     

 

I can only imagine your personal sense of satisfaction to see this first graduating class, Ruth.  Surely you know that your personal contribution to this reality has been immense.  Congratulations!

The Faculté des Sciences Infirmières de l'Université Episcopale d'Haïti (FSIL) is the first baccalaureate nursing program in Haiti.  It started on January 10, 2005, under Doyenne (Dean) Hilda Alcindor with a Governing Board, made up of Haitian and American members and chaired by Dr. Donna Martsolf who is a Professor of Nursing at Kent State University and Vice-Chair Dr. Jessie Colin who is a Professor of Nursing at Barry University.  FSIL was built with grant funding from USAID/ASHA through the Medical Benevolence Foundation (MBF) and major continuing funding from MBF and the Haiti Nursing Foundation.
