Hi Vixen, In response to your inquiry... your ex may have been a carrier all
along and the virus my have just been repressed until recently. Or, mind that
there may be a chance that you could be a carrier as well and not show signs of
it. There have been studies conducted that show only 20% of Hpv carriers
realize they have it. The other 80% are oblivious untill it shows up, IF it
shows up!! You can be a carrier and never have a breakout in your lifetime.
However, you can give it to someone. I have found out that many "professionals"
don't have indepth info on HPV. Instead it is best to gather info from other
individuals whom have had it. Best to search related chats, newsgroups, etc.. In
my situation, my ex had always had clear Pap smears and then a year into our
relationship she had a gential warts breakout. Then like 4 months after i had a
break out. There really is no way of knowing for sure who brought it. Warts and
gential warts are contagious by touch. Condoms don't
neccessarily prevent it! That's way your parents used to say dont touch warts.
As far as you know he or you could of had it from your first intimate encounter.
Any STD can be recieved by ORAL SEX too!!! if you have any more questions feel
free to ask. J

I need some information. I ended a relationship a few months back,
and recently found out my ex has HPV. We are still dear friends, and
he is scared and convinced he'll never have sex again, and refuses
to reach out for help. It's sad to see that happening to him. My
Dr. said my pap looked fine, but it's scary to think I may have been
exposed. The time frame he's giving me doesn't add up, but he claims
to have not known about it before we broke up. I haven't found any
straight talk on any of the medical sites I have seen, and no
particulars about safe sex practices either, and desperately need
some info on that. Help!!
