Dear friends,

It turns out that, this Thursday, June 8, 2006, a former bodyguard
employed by Howard Hughes named Jerry Bell will hold an exhibition in
Nuuanu, Hawaii, and it will focus on Mr. Hughes's accomplishments in
the field of aviation. Mr. Bell said that he was one of the people
who had to wear white gloves whenever he touched something that Mr.
Hughes would touch, so he was part of what was nicknamed "The White
Glove Gang."

It turns out that Mr. Bell authored a Hughes biography I have
never heard of before -- "Howard Hughes -- His Silence, Secrets, and
Success," which was published back in 1976.

This exhibition is very, very temporary. It might not even last
more than a week, so it doesn't come anything close to being the sort
of memorial to Mr. Hughes that Mr. Simmons wanted. However, I do
believe this is a step in the positive direction. :-)

Sincerely,
Stuart

"Kneel Where Our Loves Are Sleeping"

Kneel where our loves are sleeping,
Dear ones loved in days gone by,
Here we bow in holy revrence,
Our bosoms heave the heartfelt sigh
They fell like brave men, true as steel,
And pour'd their blood like rain
We feel we owe them all we have,
And can but kneel and weep again.

Here we find our noble dead
Their spirits soar'd to him above,
Rest they now about his throne,
For God is mercy God is love.
Then let us pray that we may live,
As pure and good as they have been,
That dying we may ask of Him,
To ope the gate and let us in.

chorus:

Kneel where our loves are sleeping,
They lost, but still were good and true,
Our father, brothers fell still fighting.
We weep, 'tis all that we can do.

Nella Sweet, 1867

Happy Memorial Day.

Dedicated to 'Van The Man' and all the brave men and women!

HHTG not disbanded that I know of. You must recall that there
were serious disruptions in operations that ruined all
member efforts to discuss particular important events concerning
memorial efforts for Howard. Movement to recommend US Postal
commemoration stamp was derailed by comp;ete lack of cooperation
by membership. Efforts to arrange membership meeting for
anniversary events failed. Clearly there were infiltrations
of the group by individuals intent on disrupting chances for
any organized programs designed to present the Hughes saga in
a favorable light. Many members were no doubt fearful to
participate under threat of being slandered, insulted and
perhaps even materially harmed by infiltrators who seemed able to
disrupt group operations with impunity. Efforts to screen out
questionable people from open (unmoderrated) membership were
thwarted by apparently open membership provileges granted to
them by individuals in management positions within the group, False
posts were entered in the name of valid members, and there seemed to
be no way to eliminate them from the group.

Incomplete Membership Profile data resulted in impossibility of
identifying false from valid members. Why? Is the question.

All HH Groups are monitored by 'interested' parties who are
appointed to nip in the bud any positive actions-proposals as regards
restoring the good name, reputable deeds and reputation of Howard
Hughes, Howard had many bitter enemies during his lifetime, many
of them directly involved in criminal activities in their efforts
tom take over the Hughes estate. Now aged they still have heirs and
assigns who are interested in protecting assets that have passed
under their control through illegal conspiracies and coverups of very
high level interferences in Howard's US Free enterprise operations.
I believe that Nazi escapees bought their way into leading
American Industries during and after WW II, and that they remain
a controlling influential factor in a Military-Political-Industrial
Complex of forces that virtually controls all commerce in the world
today. They primarily used Hughes' assets to accomplish this.

Just as I see it.

Van,
After I had recently gotten intouch with you via phone. We
had touched on the HRH stamp and the most ambisious idea was to be able
to see if it would be possible to see if we can do anything or to
sponsor the flying of the Hercules? I have been pretty busy working,
so I'm checking in to see if there was anything going on this front,
after going thru the recent messages, it seems nothing is going on. I
feel very bad with all the people in this and other groups that this
would not be worth any time or effort on them. I would be able to give
my time and energy to this endevor. I hope that the referb and the
flying of the Hercules is not abandoned. Please let's not let this die
and see if anything can be done, writing to the correct people, getting
intrest going anything. Van you seem to have many contacts and would
know who to write to on this project. I hope to be reading more from
others on this post.

PS I have flown the Hercules on MS Flight Simulator...It was pretty
wild.

Dear duc - after what we all went through on HHThe Genius
Group with "Son of Howard and Avas" stuff, I appreciate your
not using your real name in our posting groups.
Nobody took any interest, apparently in our efforts to
have a Po0stal Co0mmemoration stamp made for Howarde's

object3ed to proposal to restore his Flying Airship and even

SPRUCE GOOSE FLIES:
November 2, 1947

The Hughes Flying Boat--the largest aircraft ever built--is piloted
by designer Howard Hughes on its first and only flight. Built with
laminated birch and spruce, the massive wooden aircraft had a
wingspan longer than a football field and was designed to carry more
than 700 men to battle. Howard Hughes was a successful Hollywood
movie producer when he founded the Hughes Aircraft Company in 1932.
He personally tested cutting-edge aircraft of his own design and in
1937 broke the transcontinental flight-time record. In 1938, he flew
around the world in a record three days, 19 hours, and 14
minutes.Following the U.S. entrance into World War II in 1941, the
U.S. government commissioned the Hughes Aircraft Company to build a
large flying boat capable of carrying men and materials over long
distances. The concept for what would become the "Spruce Goose" was
originally conceived by the industrialist Henry Kaiser, but Kaiser
dropped out of the project early, leaving Hughes and his small team
to make the H-4 a reality. Because of wartime restrictions on steel,
Hughes decided to build his aircraft out of wood laminated with
plastic and covered with fabric.
Although it was constructed mainly of birch, the use of spruce
(along with its white-gray color) would later earn the aircraft the
nickname Spruce Goose. It had a wingspan of 320 feet and was powered
by eight giant propeller engines.Development of the Spruce Goose
cost a phenomenal $23 million and took so long that the war had
ended by the time of its completion in 1946. The aircraft had many
detractors, and Congress demanded that Hughes prove the plane
airworthy. On November 2, 1947, Hughes obliged, taking the H-4
prototype out into Long Beach Harbor for an unannounced flight test.
Thousands of onlookers had come to watch the aircraft taxi on the
water and were surprised when Hughes lifted his wooden behemoth 70
feet above the water and flew for a mile before landing.Despite its
successful maiden flight, the Spruce Goose never went into
production, primarily because critics alleged that its wooden
framework was insufficient to support its weight during long
flights. Nevertheless, Howard Hughes, who became increasingly
eccentric and withdrawn after 1950, refused to neglect what he saw
as his greatest achievement in the aviation field. From 1947
until his death in 1976, he kept the Spruce Goose prototype ready
for flight in an enormous, climate-controlled hangar at a cost of $1
million per year. Today, the Spruce Goose is housed at the Evergreen
Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon.

Dear United States Postal Service Stamp Services:

Please accept for consideration this request for introduction
of a US Postal Commemoration Stamp for late Mr. Howard Robard Hughes,
Jr.,(Dec 5 1905-Apr 5 1976).
Mr. Hughes is a very distinguished American: Aviation development
pioneer; Movie Producer-Director; Deep Sea and Outer Space Equipment
Designer and Producer; recipient of Harmon (1937); Collier (1938);
Congressional Gold Medal (1939); Octave Chanute (1940); Aviation
Awards
and installation in the Aviation Hall of Fame (1973).
I submit this request as a member of Internet groups with programs
aimed at promoting historical, educational and memorial programs to
commemorate the achievements and contributions of the late Mr. Hughes
in many areas of Science, Industry and Philanthropy during
his lifetime, all of which have redounded to great honors and
benefits for his country and the people of the whole world during the
greater part of the 20th Century. Mr. Hughes was indeed one of
the outstanding figures of his time throughout the world.

Suggested designs of the proposed Commemoration Stamp is as
sent in cover packet from our groups of July 31, 2005, which was an
enlarged depiction photograph of the Congressional Gold Medal face
and obverse views, taken from the frontispiece of the memorial book:
The Analytical American History of the Life
and Times of Howard Robard Hughes, Jr., ISBN 0-615-11829-1, of 1993-
1999. The picture of the Congressional Gold Medal is the only known
factual depiction of this unique medal known to exist, and was
obtained from the Treasury Department United States Mint specifically
for use as frontispiece to the memorial book. The book is a memorial
work limited in distribution to select libraries and
students-scholars.

While it is known that requests of this kind should normally be
submitted up to 3 years in advance of proposed issue date, it is
urgently requested that this policy be waived in this particular
case, so that the centennial commemoration date may be realized. I
ask that Mr. Hughes' truly exceptional achievements and contributions
be given special consideration in expediting the production and
issuance of this very important memorial commemorative stamp.

Very sincerely and respectfully,
