Proposed Template Letter for members to submit request
for Centennial Commemoration Howard R Hughes US Postage
Stamp:
United States Postal Service

1735 N Lynn Street, Suite 5012
Arlington, Virginia 22209-6432
Dear United States Postal Service Stamp Services:
Please accept for consideration this request for introduction
of a US Postal Commemoration Stamp for late Mr. Howard Robard Hughes,
Jr.,(Dec 5 1905-Apr 5 1976).
Mr. Hughes is a very distinguished American: Aviation development
pioneer; Movie Producer-Director; Deep Sea and Outer Space Equipment
Designer and Producer; recipient of Harmon (1937); Collier (1938);
Congressional Gold Medal (1939); Octave Chanute (1940); Aviation
Awards
and installation in the Aviation Hall of Fame (1973).
I submit this request as a member of Internet groups with programs
aimed at promoting historical, educational and memorial programs to
commemorate the achievements and contributions of the late Mr. Hughes
in many areas of Science, Industry and Philanthropy during
his lifetime, all of which have redounded to great honors and
benefits for his country and the people of the whole world during the
greater part of the 20th Century. Mr. Hughes was indeed one of
the outstanding figures of his time throughout the world.
Suggested designs of the proposed Commemoration Stamp is as
sent in cover packet from our groups of July 31, 2005, which was an
enlarged depiction photograph of the Congressional Gold Medal face
and obverse views, taken from the frontispiece of the memorial book:
The Analytical American History of the Life
and Times of Howard Robard Hughes, Jr., ISBN 0-615-11829-1, of 1993-
1999. The picture of the Congressional Gold Medal is the only known
factual depiction of this unique medal known to exist, and was
obtained from the Treasury Department United States Mint specifically
for use as frontispiece to the memorial book. The book is a memorial
work limited in distribution to select libraries and
students-scholars.
While it is known that requests of this kind should normally be
submitted up to 3 years in advance of proposed issue date, it is
urgently requested that this policy be waived in this particular
case, so that the centennial commemoration date may be realized. I
ask that Mr. Hughes' truly exceptional achievements and contributions
be given special consideration in expediting the production and
issuance of this very important memorial commemorative stamp.
Very sincerely and respectfully,
