In discussions about airplanes built and developed by Howard Hughes
it is surprising that one of the most important of these is hardly ever
mentioned-that is the Lockheed Super Electra L14, that broke
distance, speed, navigation records with Howard at the controls in
1938.
Congress in Joint Session acclaimed this achievement by awarding Howard
the then very rarely awarded Congressional Gold Medal and noting that
Howard Hughes' contributions to the science of Aviation had been done
at his own personal expense and benefitted the whole world of Aviation.
Remember the Lockheed Super Electra L14 "Worlds Fair 1938! Much was
learned and remains to be discovered about this remarkable Aircraft!
