Re: Juan Trippeinformation

Dear Van,

Have tried the ILL route through my library and Temple library said
not available. Probably better for me to wait as did not know it was
that long and still involved in family situation that will take time.

With family around over the holidays, only got a chance to go through
some of what my friend sent me.

I posted a message earlier about a book called "The Aviator" by
George J. Marrett. He says Jack Real was one of the people who wanted
him to write the book. There is a picture of Jack Real and Marrett
taken together in 2003, so may be of value.

Have you read it? If not, the toll free # is (800) 233-8764.

On the inside, it says, "To Chal Bowen, Bruce Burk, Jack Real, and
Gus Seidel--Howard Hughes's best friends--who encouraged me to write
the true flying story of 'the Man'".

If the other names ring a positive note with you, maybe this book
will be enlightening. It is very focused on the aviation side of
HRH's life, from what I have read so far.

Anyway, I definitely intend to send you what my friend gave me at
some point.

There is a Sun-n-Fun Aviation Museum in Lakeland, Florida that has
aviation artifacts of Howard Hughes's. I e-mailed them and asked if
someone who organized the museum knew HRH, as I had read articles in
the mid-1990s of some guy in Lakeland who was keeping HRH artifacts
in a trailer and was hoping to open a library. It sounded like he
knew HRH. Anyway, the Vice-President e-mailed me back and said no one
there did and that he wish he had known "Mr. Hughes personally", as
he was an aviator himself. He said if I had any personal insights
about HRH's aviation career, he would be interested to know them to
help add to their exhibit. I know absolutely nothing but what I read
and then, not being an engineer, a lot is lost on me (although I can
twist my mind around to grasp some of it).

But, there may be people in this group or the main one that know
something. After the New Year, will post the Museum's website for
Hughes's fans. Maybe someone has knowledge to send the Vice-President
of the museum.

Well, will be bringing in the New Year with family soon.

Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year!

Elaine
