Any thoughts on this excerpt from Page 245 of Richard Mathison's "His Weird
and Wanton Ways":

"Opinion is mixed as to [Hughes'] business acument. Considering that he
started with only
$750,00.00 in 1924 and ended up with billions it would seem he was one of
the brightest businessmen of all time. But many inside the Hughes empire
disagree. Only when he left them alone did they prosper, some claim.
Toolco was a wellspring of money because Hughes had no interest in dabbling
in it. For decades it continued to pay fifty cents on the dollar, its
profits seeding all other efforts. RKO and TWA, which had his full
attention and preoccupation, both ultimately failed for him in their own
way. In both cases executives or stockholders revolted against the Old
Man's meddling."
