"Write a Letter to HIV" Campaign!

By Justin B. Terry-Smith

From TheBody.com

March 6, 2012

Justin B. Terry-Smith

Hello, I'm Justin B. Terry-Smith. I was infected with HIV in 2005 and diagnosed
in 2006. I've decided to write a letter expressing my feelings about HIV and I'm
asking YOU to join me.
HIV AFFECTS  AND CAN INFECT US ALL

You can be HIV negative or positive; this letter is meant to
encourage and empower. If you're infected or affected by HIV, I'm asking
that you write a letter and then videotape yourself reading the letter
aloud. It helps sometimes to get your feelings out, whether you've been
recently diagnosed or have been living with HIV for a long period of
time.
I'm asking everyone -- including my fellow bloggers here at
TheBody.com and others that don't have a blog -- to join me in this
campaign, "My Letter to HIV." Check out my letter and video
for an example. If you don't want to make a video you don't have to; a
simple letter will suffice. You can also send a picture of yourself.
Entries will be posted in a series on this article page.

Send your letters and video links to mylettertohiv@....

PLEASE JOIN ME IN EMPOWERING YOURSELVES IN THIS FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS!
You can find the campaign at thebody.com at the following
linkhttp://www.thebody.com/content/66042/write-a-letter-to-hiv-campaign.html

i was told "the HIV/AIDS network" has a place to post penpal ads. I'm not
finding anything on your site. If this is not the right HIV/aids network, do
you know the correct one? I don't see anywhere else to ask questions, so i'm
just sending this knowing it has to be read before posting. I don't want this
posted, i just want my question answered - thanks - Connie

To find out the affects of pml I would go pml survivors. Personally I wouldn't
do it but is up to you. It affects everyone different so you never know what
will happen. I used to do roofing & siding, never will again but that's ok as
long as I live & get better,I'm currently in a wheelchair,can't talk,write bad
balance & no coordination. I just hope to get better in the future(it's been
almost 2yrs in a chair). I was told my balance will always be bad but never
quit(I won't). Some have had it better, some worse you always hope for the best
I'm just lucky I don't have pain cause I don't know what I would do I would hope
to remain positive like so many others have. Know matter what I go through now I
truly believe there is something better. A saying goes,"use it or lose it".

The question is not only demeaning and fairly useless for getting information,
it also creates the perfect environment for HIV infection. My blog post
discusses why.

THE COMMENTS SECTION is wild on this one, my friends, and I would welcome your
contribution.

Justin's
HIV Journal:
Justin Runs the Rebel Race 2012

There are a lot of things I hope to
accomplish and being HIV positive not only pushes me harder but makes me open
to new things and possibilities.  I love
a challenge and I almost thrive on them.
In February some of my friends were talking about us doing the Rebel
Race.  I had no idea what it was so I
googled it.  I watched a video of people
running up steep hills. Doing low crawls through mud, jumping through hurdles,
etc.  There were all sorts of obstacle
courses and so I e-mail my close friends and we decided to run it.

So on June 7th, 2012 we
all decided to drive to 4101 Stansbury Mill Rd Monkton, Maryland 21111, which
is where the Rebel Race is.  We started
the race at the same time but finished at different time but ALL IN ALL WE DID
IT TOGETHER!!!  My husband and other
spouses sat in support and shouted as we ran across the finish line.  It was
amazing to see my baby at the finish
line waiting for me.  Be HIV positive
doesn’t mean that you cannot do things that you’ve had your heart set on.
You have to stay focused and believe in yourself.  Do NOT let HIV dictate who
you are or what
you cannot do.  If there is anyone out
there that say you cannot do something because you are HIV positive then you
tell them that there isn’t anything you cannot do.  Here is a Before and
After PIC

fantasies for me and eaten alive.”

My doctor has decided to take me off Atripla (which I felt was working well) and
put me on a drug called COMPLERA which is like Atripla but must be taken with
meals rather than on an empty stomach. After startng Atripla 3 years ago my viral
load became undetectable in under one month and my CD$ count is up to 575 so I
though things were going well.I was wondering if any members of the group have
taken that drug and what their reaction to it was. Thanks

I tried to get on it, but the VA would not approve the change. Maybe next year.
I think it is a much better choice than Atripla.

I have not taken it but I went to a meeting Thursday with the drug company
that makes the drug. It seems to be very promising. According to the studies
patients that have been on it have not had any side effects other then
perhaps depression. From what I understand as well, it is one of those
forgiven drugs like Atripla , meaning if you miss a dose it should not be
that bad.

The POZ Life Weekend is Re-Affirming Weekend Seminar you will never forget!

We ask that if you are Registering that you Commit to attending Both Days!

-----------------
The POZ Life Weekend Seminar is a place where compassion, education, community
and love is offered unconditionally. It's a place HIV+ men, women, youths and
family members can come be themselves, feel comforted and support in their
effort to learn how to either live a long healthy productive POZitive lifestyle,
or help someone they know and love overcome the fears associated with being
HIV+.

Our diverse group of Presenters, Volunteers and Staff can effectively reach out
and relate to the specific issues that can concern and equally diverse group of
men, women, people of color, gay men and heterosexual HIV individuals. Age is
not relevant in most cases, however each community and culture has specific
needs for support, and each is addressed in breakout or concurrent sessions
according to the specific demographic majority of the enrolled number of
participants.

When enrolling, you'll be asked what your specific concerns might be, or what
you hope to achieve by participating in the seminar. We strive to find qualified
presenters to address these specific issues, or ask one of the already scheduled
qualified presenters to be sure and touch on that topic to insure all questions
are answered.

Our workshops are extremely interactive. Our Presenters always welcome your
questions and comments. You seepresenters and volunteers are not the only ones
sharing and teaching. The magic occurs when participants also reach out and help
one another with helpful information, suggestions, support and tips.

They took me off it because of mood changes and it was screwing up my
cholersteral numbers. They say if it doesn't work I can go back on Atripla
because my body hasn't developed a resistance to it.

Did your doctor tell you why he took you off of Atripla, if it was working? The
only reason I was taken off is it stopped working as I grew resistant due to an
intestinal disorder.

Thanks
