Sorry if some people get this more than once!!!
Hi everyone,
My name is Margaret. I work for the University of Wyoming in the
Psychology Department on the Wyoming Rural AIDS Prevention
Projects. I am also on the state community planning group, and am
one of the organizers of WYOAIDS Walk. I am pleased to say this
year will be our 3rd annual walk.
I myself am negative, but have been touched by a close friend who
is positive. Because of my work and interaction with him, I have
started to do more with HIV/AIDS work. I truly enjoy myself and I
am looking forward to getting to know you all.
Margaret
Well Michael!
Nice thoughts but this isn't exactly what I though of as retirement. I've
been diagnosed poz for 14 years and probably been poz for at least 3 years
prior to that. This is not a easy retirement for most, it's strugglin with
what little disability provides and hopefully you have the love and
assistance to get you through the rest.
Take care and have a great New Year

Subject: [The HIV/AIDS Network®] Things to consider................
We in some respects are the "lucky" ones though! We can take an option to
retire early and do those things that are really important to us in life.
We have an opportunity to reflect and prepare; to do much soul searching, to
actually REALIZE that we are indeed mortals on this earth. It would seem
that often people live as though they think that they will live forever. We
can get things in order, demonstrate love to those who are meaningful in our
lives, and live each day as though it might be our last.
Life within and of itself is TERMINAL. It is my choice to believe that in
many ways I am no more terminal than any other mortal roaming this planet.
HIV disease and the toxic medications used to "treat" it are NO picnic
though. There are of course many, many other terminal illnesses among us,
some even more quick and painful than HIV in fact. Sadly we must realize
that death is just a part of living and comes to all living things.
As the Bible says, "Without HOPE we are of all men most miserable". Yes, of
COURSE we know that probably HIV will be our surmise, but not necessarily so
since we could in fact "go" from any number of other ways. Our HOPE is that
there will be better medications that will effectively control and hold at
bay the virus that is currently thriving within us. Our HOPE is that one
day there might be a "cure". Our HOPE is that we won't get run over by a
semi on our way to the market, lol hahahaha.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me today!
A forever friend, Michael in Texas

IM A LITTLE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT I READ ON THE INTERNET. IT APPEARS TO ME
THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE HIV FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS BEFORE AIDS KICKS IN. SO HOW IS
HAVING HIV NOT A DEATH SENTENCE....?
CRIMINALS SENTENCED TO THE DEATH PENALTY USUALLY GET A STAY OF EXECUTION
OF 12 YEARS OR SO DUE TO APPEALS BEFORE THEY ARE PUT TO DEATH. SO BASICALLY
SOMEONE SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR A CAPITOL CRIME WILL BE ON DEATH ROW LONGER
THEN THE TIME IT WILL TAKE ME TO ACQUIRE AIDS AND DIE.....! I REALIZE SOME
PEOPLE REACH THAT LEVEL OF AIDS (BELOW 200 CD4) AND BOUNCE BACK. BUT THAT IS
RARE AND MOST SEEM TO DIE AT THAT STAGE.
IM NOT TRYING TO BE NEGATIVE, IM JUST TRYING TO BE A REALIST. I HAVE READ
20-30 DIFFERENT ARTICLES FROM DIFFERENT WEB PAGES AND THEY ALL SAY THE SAME
THING. CONSIDERING THAT THERE IS NO CURE FOR AIDS HOW IS THIS NOT A DEATH
SENTENCE....?
I KNOW I COULD WALK ACROSS THE STREET TOMORROW AND GET HIT BY A BUS. OR
GET CANCER AND DIE IN 3 MONTHS. BUT THAT IS UNLIKELY. IF I WAS SUPPOSED TO
LIVE TO 80 YRS. AND I WILL PROBABLY DIE IN MY EARLY 40'S (IM 32 NOW) I WOULD
AY THAT IS A DEATH SENTENCE.
PEOPLE HAVE WROTE ME AND STATED THAT HIV IS NOW MORE OR LESS CLASSIFIED AS
A CHRONIC DISEASE LIKE DIABETES VS. A DEATH SENTENCE...? IF THAT
CLASSIFICATION IS A RESULT OF ME LIVING 10 YEARS VS. 3-5 YEARS LIKE DURING
THE MID TO LATE 80'S THEN THAT'S A CROCK OF SHIT IN MY OPINION.
LIKE I SAID, IM NOT TRYING TO SOUND NEGATIVE. I JUST DON'T WANT PEOPLE AND
DOCTORS TELLING ME THAT ITS RAINING AND MY SHOES ARE GETTING WET WHEN THEY
ARE PISSING ON ME. I WANT THE TRUTH.
THERE ARE PLACES I WANT TO SEE AND THINGS I WANT TO DO BEFORE I DIE. IF I
HAVE 10-12 YEARS BEFORE I CHECK OUT I WANT TO KNOW. I DON'T WANT TO WORK
UNTIL I CROAK. IF I ONLY HAVE A DECADE OR SO LEFT THEN I WANT TO RETIRE AND
DO THE THINGS I MAY NEVER GET TO DO. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE HAD
HIV. I HAVE NOT GOT MY BLOOD WORK BACK YET CAUSE I JUST WENT LAST WEEK SO IM
NOT SURE WHAT MY NUMBERS ARE.
I WANT THE TRUTH. I DONT WANT IT SUGAR COATED.... IF YOU COULD OFFER SOME
INSIGHT I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.
THANX....

talk to someone about it. If some one would like to talk, reply or

With the owners permission, I would like to introduce your members to
my new group for poz individuals in Pennsylvania.
Hi All,
I just started a "new group" for Poz individuals in the Chester and
Delaware Counties, Pennsylvania area, but all are invited to join.
This group is NOT in the ADULT area which makes it easier for
individuals to access for a number of reasons.
It is more of a support, information and social gathering group as
opposed to just advertising for sexual partners.
You might want to check it out to see if you are interested in
joining.

The Moderator,
George
it will help you to get the meds that you need till
you get medicade or other help elsewhere from you care
worker if you dont have one get in touch with any aids
org and they will point you in the wright direction
and the next answer is depending on if any one
knowes about you aids and only believe you doctor to
many people give the wrong answer that you need most
of the time so be careful of who you listen to and
good luck and take the meds even they make you sick it
will pass i found out on mine 2 years ago good luck
and hope this helps and if you need to talk email me
or get in touch on messenger my handle is

Not sure POZconnect.com is for real (if you try it, let me know),
maybe u send an email to a person, then u get response saying taht
person only has herpes and is afraid of you... I suggest using only
HIV/AIDS dating sites like http://www.HIVdate.com (actually is 100%
free for sending, adding, etc) so you are less disappointed
Sorry about letting brandys dirty party invitation slip through,
sounds like a real messy party hes having!
POZ Canadian website as far as I knew was http://www.POZ.ca but I see
someone else is now using their name on POZcanadian.com, hmmn.
Anyhow, been a while since I've enabled messages, sorry, been so
bizzy here plus my hands are so sore from typing millions of lines of
ASP code. We got a new web server and many old parts were recently
upgraded!
With Moderators permission: A VERY DIFFERENT GROUP on the net; Real people,
Real romance, Real love and support for those infected with and affected by HIV
disease:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pozwithproblems/?yguid=154464261
Despite the fact that funding has been cut and it is no longer "vogue" the age
of HIV and AIDS is not over! So many people have been infected and affected by
this disease and have encountered REAL LIFE problems such as with finances,
long-term relationships, housing, locating benefits, help and loving support.
Often they are instead offered run arounds, games, and endless red tape. Where
do you go when you are ABSOLUTELY at the end of your rope? Right here! In this
group everybody who has experienced a feeling of "having reached the end" can
network, share ideas and offer TRUE love and support. If you are HIV+ but
healthy, wealthy, successful in most areas of life and relationships and
virtually unaffected join ONLY if you are willing to support those who are NOT.
This is a kind and compassionate group of people who UNDERSTAND the disabilities
associated with HIV and AIDS.
Thanks for your consideration, and we hope to see all of you who are REAL
inside!

i wanted to ask does the program ADAP pay for the drugs or is it a co
pay, i want to know what are the mental changes that a person goes
through in the first year of having hiv.
in washington state vocational rehab sometimes helps
with returning to school. have you tried applying for
a PELL grant? just go down to the financial aid office
of the college you are planning to attend. or got to
FAFSA on the web and apply online.
i have never been on SSDI, but i have been out of
work for a few years and would love to know of any
help i might find looking for a job. washington's
economy is not too good right now.
thanks,
craig
