Roger, Unless you know someone I don't know, hiking Hollister is almost
impossible - I can't get permission.
I recall you did Bill McDaniel's Barranca Loop trail at MDO in Jan. 2002...
I am co-leading that hike now, and the next one is
(says http://www.morrobaymuseum.org/adventures/index.htm )
April 16 Sat 9:00 am Hike Barranca Loop
Hike Barranca Loop Great exercise, great companionship, and spectacular ocean,
mountain, and canyon views. On this vigorous hike, you will view Montaña de Oro
and Morro Bay from the Ridge and Barranca trails while enjoying wildflowers,
birds, and native vegetation. Bring water and lunch. Wear hiking boots. Meet at
Ridge Trail parking lot 2.3 miles south of park entrance. 1,000 foot elevation
change. (*H) 8 mi., 6 hr.
I am also co-leading a hike up the Southern Route to Valencia Peak (not on the
State Park map)
(says http://www.morrobaymuseum.org/adventures/index.htm )
April 2 Sat 9:00 am Southern Route to Valencia Peak
Southern Route to Valencia Peak Enjoy coastal and mountain vistas of the
southern area of the park enroute to Valencia Peak. Deep ravines and sharp
ridges tell a geologic history of uplift and erosion. Seasonal wildflowers and
sheltered clusters of coastal live oak punctuate the coastal scrub community.
Meet at the Coon Creek parking lot at the south end of Montaña de Oro State
Park. Bring water, lunch and binoculars. Wear hiking boots. (*S) 4 mi., 4 hr.
I encourage you or any other member to rejuvenate this Yahoo Group and call some
hikes, and invite new members.
I have managed to get up to the top of all the other Eight Morros
(Morro Rock, Black Hill, Cabrillo, Romauldo, Chumash, Bishop, San Luis, Islay)
There is some of the info on hiking the nine Morros, from my page at
http://morro-bay.com/outdoor/
(this page also contains a lot of other info. on local hiking options)...

Sorry Mike, but will be out of town until April 1st. Question: Are there
hikes ever planned to the lesser Morros...Cerro Romauldo or Chumash Peak? I
understand
Hollister Peak is not possible (???).
