Welcome to Herbal Contraception. This is an email group for those of who are using herbs as their main method of contraception or who are interested in exploring this possibility. A active interest in learning more about herbs for contraception is encouraged. By active I mean that you've spent some time on your own exploring the possibility of using herbs for contraception.

Most common herbs used for contraception are: wild carrot (queen anne's lace) seeds, wild yam, and neem; all of which are experimental, ancient knowledge has been lost, so self-experimentation is the only way to find out if its going to work. Unfortunately, the scientific community isn't much help in reclaiming this knowledge. However, there has been some preliminary research done, some of it with encouraging results, wild carrot seed is a good example of this. And there are several very extensive lists of contraceptive/abortive plants that have been compiled from many different countries.

Native American's had an extensive working knowledge of herbal contraceptive plants, with many plants being listed as being able to cause sterility, unfortunately many of the details of how to harvest and prepare these contraceptive medicines was not recorded, and the oral traditions fade.
