I had asked if I would want to go anywhere after surgery and most of the replies
said I most likely wouldn't feel like it. I made no plans- and boy were you all
right!!! I was in a good amount of pain the first week and very uncomfortable
with the splints. It felt so great to get the splints out after a week, and I
finished my antiobiotics, but today the doctor called me. Apparently they
couldn't find my lab cultures after surgery, but now have. I guess they are
pretty bad, lots of stapp and streph and other stuff. I have been feeling
crappy yesterday and today- pain in cheek bones and forhead bone. Last night I
was using ice packs for pain, and I'm almost 2 weeks out from surgery. The crud
in my nose is thick mucus/blood clots. It's made me really stuffy and
congested, and I can't get it out unless I cough and hack it out and spit it. I
know that's gross, but I keep having blood clots draining down the back of my
throat- it's really annoying and taste bad. How long does that last???

I can't remember how long it took for me.  Quite a while.  so, did the doc say not to "blow your nose"?  Just curious..............and also, did they tell you that they cleaned out all of the infection?  yep, when the big blood clots naturally release, they have to go somewhere.  hang in there.............

I had several follow up visits after the operation and each time, the doctor
drained out all of the blood with some kind of sinus vacuum cleaner. I was also
not supposed to lift anything or drive. Altogether, it took a month in my case
for the bleeding to stop. But everyone is different. I had the surgery several
years ago and it saved my life.
