Hi Every one. Am new member that has sinusitus.
Had reem job and septum correction. Suffer from
nasal congestion when sleeping. All meds and moisture
remedies cause dryness and congestion. VA doctor told
me to try personal lubricating jelly. (Not laughing)
Bought some at Walgreens. Directions say do not get in
ears or eyes. Smells chemicalish. Reluctant to try.
Maybe can use product for other purposes (laughing).
Oh well still searching for relief. Anybody ever use
or heard of using this product. John
Hi Josie,
I've not used Nasopure before. I use Neilmed, which took me afew tries
to get the hang of. I use it both in the plastic bottle or in the neti
pot I got from Neilmed. Maybe you could try 1 of those and see if they
work.

Sorry you are having such a hard time. Make sure your head is bent over the sink. then... RELAX... just let the water go up and out. When I do it, it will come out the other nostril and my mouth. Some will drip out the same side I just did. You just have to relax. You will not drown....some may run down your throat too...no worries
Try it again...

Well, I tried the Nasopure. Somebody tell me what I am doing wrong, please.
It was AWFUL. I got the temp right, and I did not mix in too much saline so
burning was not the problem.
I panicked, I think, because it brought back
the memory of almost drowning when I was a child. I was resuscitated by
a lifeguard. It was a similar feeling, though not as bad, of course.
Nothing came out the other sinus. Nothing went down my throat.
Instinctively I felt like stopping because I had the sensation I was
drowning.
So what did I do wrong? So many people swear by this method, and I
This article is by a researcher/physician in Atlanta. It's a bit
scientific sounding, but if you can get thru it, has some interesting
information. On page 7, he has a treatment plan that uses mainly
sprays. I have the entire article on Adobe Acrobat with pictures (that

Dear Sinus Group Friends,
thank you all for your messages. I did snap out of it finally. I'm
only sorry to hear that many of you are in worse shape with seemingly
incurable cases. The other day when I wrote that, out of nowhere, my
nose started to bleed. I'd never had a nose bleed before (except for
after my surgery). Then it stopped and has been ok since (thank
heavens). I had an untimely death occur in my family afew months ago
where 2 members were run over by a car. One was killed instantly. His
wife is now in a wheel chair and has to relearn how to walk. We used
to spend holidays together, his loss was very unexpected. Between
that, the sinusitis, and now not having a job, well, I'm sure you get
the picture. But, thanks to you, I'm feeling better.

You are not a downer at all. Dealing with
chronic illness is not easy especially when it affects your livelihood and
every aspect of your life. I think depression, sadness and such go hand
in hand with chronic illness. It would be weird if you didn’t feel those
things. In a way you are mourning for the life you had pre sinus/work
issues.
Thoughts of suicide I imagine are
frightening. I strongly urge you, if you haven’t already, to talk
with your doctor about how you are feeling. There is help out there.
Please don’t be afraid to discuss depression or be ashamed of it.
Bad situations arise and happen to good people and it’s out of our
control. What is in your control is how you move forward. You may not be
able to fix all the physical symptoms but you can change/manage the emotional
ones.
Please please seek more help/support! You
owe it to yourself to live your best life!!
Big hugs

Hello all,
Happy Thanksgiving. I don't want to sound like a downer. I've tried to
really be a trooper during this sinus illness, which went out of
control last 7/05. Some of you probably read my earlier postings about
how I have chronic sinusitis from working in a building that had mold,
a poorly maintained and malfunctioning HVAC system, about my surgery,
symptoms, etc. I had to leave the job of many years because of this.
Is it normal to become very sad and depressed? I've all of a sudden
been crying my eyes out over this whole thing. I'm trying to cheer up,
but I just keep thinking about it over and over again. I just wonder,
why this had to happen to me, why I had to take that job, why my life
was ruined and if I'll ever be ok again. I'm afraid to complain to my
family and friends, because they've been so supportive during all of
this. If it weren't for them and, well let me just say it, for my Mom,
I was going to kill myself because I wasn't going to be able to live
with this. I'm feeling better from the operation, but am still not the
way I used to be. I think about the good things I have, but I just am
so sad, I'm never going to be the same again. I'm angry too over the
complete lack of accountability in the working environment and how the
other people who got sick there are too afraid to complain. I just
want to cheer up. Now, on interviews, I'm asked why I left and I don't
know what to say. You don't really think you'd leave a job this way.
Ok, I guess life goes on either way.

I have a severe sinus infection that has lasted for weeks. Because of other
medical problems, I cannot take antibiotics or decongestants. My ENT will
not give me
anything or do surgery because of my medical problems. I have just ordered
the
Nasopure bottle as a result of reading about it here. I am miserable. I
have
not breathed through my nose in a couple of weeks....well, you all know what
this is like. Is there anything I can be doing that might help me? Josie
---I hate having my nose plugged and damaged my nostrils trying to keep it
open. The nose sprays I used dried me out so bad it hurt so much they
prescribed Vicodin and then Percoset. I think the Nasopure is a good product
and I may try it myself, but to get my nose unplugged I use NatraBio's Cold
and Sinus spray.
---This is completely natural and has attacked some really plugged up
nostrils without the effects that saline's gave me or other "natural" nose
ointments and stuff that hurt like hell when I applied them. I also have
never gotten the ill effects that I have in the past from other commercial
decongestants. But that's the nostrils not the sinuses. I understand that
Micinex can relieve sinus pressure...Tammy knows a lot about Mucinex.
---I read this list a lot and people do know quite a bit about how to buy
that time for healing. I know there are folks with a lot more experience and
knowledge than me who can give you a lot more information. Keep browsing the
posts and you'll find things to do. One or several of them will get it for
you I'm hoping.
---I don't know if I thanked you Tammy for the Mucinex information. I still
have woken up plugged up a little but just forgot that 1.) I didn't drink
enough water and 2.) I stopped running the air moisturizer. I hope this gets
me through the night but I'm pleased with how wet I stay in the nose with
the Mucinex. This was a good tip.

Have you contacted an attorney about your problem? If you were working in an unsafe or unhealthy environment you may be able to file a lawsuit against your former employer. If other people have become ill because of the working conditions in the building you may be able to file a class action lawsuit. I'm sorry for all of your problems but you should have some type of legal recourse.
Sorry to hear you are feeling so low. I think after a long drawn out it is only normal to feel depressed. When it is in your head area, it tends to magnify things because your head doesn't feel well. It truly wouldn't hurt for you to go and talk to someone about it. You may feel worlds better.
I was in a nasty car wreck about 4 years ago and have had to have multiple surgeries to my shoulders and arms since then. I am a self-employed woodworker and it made my whole world grind to a halt. It helps when you can talk to someone that is not directly involved like family members and friends. They are a great support system, but sometimes a voice outside the realm of safety is a good thing to hear. It helped me a great deal.
You have every right to feel angry, sad, whatever. Just know that it will all work itself out in time. Hang in there..
angels to you,
Jeannie

Thanks for the input. I have a call in to her today. She had told me at my last post-op; in regards to the rinsing now, that that seems to be standard around here. Not all docs do it though. It does seems to help loosen the mucus though I do have to say.
Have a great thanksgiving!

Stanford is good - as long as your case is extreme enough :-)
I was amazed that the ENT director, Dr Hwang, pretty much
blew-off the Mayo Clinic study (the one that helped me so
much) during his talk on chronic sinusitis in 2006.
At least they take CRS seriously. They have come out
and said that CRS has as much effect on a patient's
quality of life as diabetes and congestive heart failure...
Good luck in Silicon Valley!

Perhaps you could add some hydrogen peroxide to your rinse as well as the saline solution?

Well thanks for the replies - yes I do understand that people get busy with their day to day lives etc and time sometimes is very hard to FIND! to reply etc - hope nobody pick up my post the wrong way.
I guess - I thought that their would be members who could enlighten me to what they do ie surgery etc.
I am having this surgery Nov 28 - have pre -op next week and then see surgeon day before - he said to make sure my husband also comes as he has to have a very "long talk" to us????.
I like most - am scared about this surgery - guess this is normal? - Dr says that I will be off work for approx another 10 days after.
All this packing etc that people talk about???? whats this?? sorry for sounding so dumb.
I also have polyps and a deviated septum - all this was found on a CT scan.
Last Thursday through to Sat morning - I thought I was going to die with the pain - couldn't lie down
- sleep etc - was the longest 2 days of my life.
I also can't take pain med - have percot - but believe it or not it makes the pain worse - had them one other time and same thing happened - so I also just have to ride it out.
Have had 3 courses of Anti since Oct and still infected - so hopefully after Nov 28 I will be on the road to recovery? well any more advise re surgery etc and what to expect would be appreciated - thanks again Susan M

Hi Group I guess I am a little disappointed that perhaps I have had no replies to my new member Intro Nov 3 -??? maybe no one had any advise etc?? - I - like perhaps alot of members here have lots of questions etc to ask other members "who have been there done that etc" I am having Sinus Surgery Nov 28 for all 4 sinuses infected / diseased and blocked - does that make any sense!!!! Dr says I will be off work for 10 days after Op - have been off since Oct 1st with this problem while awaiting another surgery to takes place - but ENT will not give clearance until this problem is fixed - well to all the group this SINUS is ..... a NIGHTMARE!!! day and night - once again any advise etc??? would be very much appreciated - Cheers Susan M
Sorry if I missed your email. I myself had sinus surgery the same day you posted. Have been a bit out of whack since then and must have missed your post.
Sorry to hear you have been so miserable. I know how you feel. Sinuses just suck! I am a self employed woodworker and some days (and weeks sometimes) I had been on my butt feeling awful.
I had all four sinuses, turbinates trimmed, and septum moved all for the second time. I just had my post op yesterday. Splints still in for at least another week, but thankfully the packing is gone!!!
I cannot take pain meds so I just used Tylenol. Have to say some days are kinda painful. Feel like someone kicked me in the front teeth and put them into my eye sockets, but all in all not too bad.
This is a great group. Perhaps they have been busy... they have really helped me.
Fire away and I will do my best to answer anything I can.
Angels to you,
Jeannie

My profound apologies to you. sometimes this group is very active & sometimes, well, obviously not! That you sinuses are infected, diseased & blocked makes perfect sense. My doc. often told me when there is that much infection, medicine can not get to the affected area & if not treated, well, you just don't want to know the worst case scenario there but anyways, I know you will feel better after surgery, I always did. No pain meds even needed for me. The "before" was so much worse than the "after", if there was any, it was a blessing compared to before. Have someone with you to write down EVERYTHING the doctors says to do, follow it to the letter of the law (mainly to cover your own uh, posterior) & I'm sure you will feel much much better. Good luck to you & let's here from some of our other members,
challenge! challenge! challenge!!!!!!!!!!!

I will write to you tommorrow. I have been frustrated because I have spent a lot of time to answer other member's questions and give them every bit of advice that I can. When I don't hear a word afterword, even after me asking how they've been. I feel, forget it. Why Bother??? I don't know if these people are reading my responses or what but I'm sharing what has helped me. They don't have to take any of my advice but at least aknowledge that you read my post. What happened to the simple word, "Thank You?"
