Well ... my point was in response to the comment you made that the elderly lady down the hall should have been sedated.  It really didn't have anything to do with my surgery ... :o)

Yeah, the packing sure didn't stay in too long.  I was definitely glad of that.  I had to wear a gauze under my nose for the next few days, though.  My pastor joked that my sister Lisa had punched me out ... :o)

They were having trouble getting a hold of her doctor to order something, as they didn't have a sedation order on her chart.  She was finally sedated at around 4 am, I think - but by that time I was fully awake so didn't bother going back to bed.  LOL!! :o)

I can well remember that feeling, even though I had my only sinus surgery nearly 10 years ago.  I sure wish I could have gone home that night rather than stay overnight in the hospital.  You just don't sleep as well in a hospital bed, than you do in your own bed.  And there was also the fact that an elderly lady was screaming down the hall half the night, keeping practically everyone awake.  Dr. Siomra yanked the packing out the next morning.

Yo!!!!!!!!!! oweeee, so soon???????? ?????????  My goodness.  Nurses should have sedated the elderly lady.

What a feeling that was!!!! :o)

When they removed my packing, well, it is an unbelievable feeling, not painful.
I was AMAZED that such a long piece of gauze could be inserted inside what was surely a small "tunnel".
One of those "Golllllll-YYYYYY! !!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! moments.

They almost did not perform it. The night before I had worked myself up into such a nervous tizzy that my asthma started up. Even though I took albutorol the anesthsiologist heard wheezes and told me she would have to postpone sugery if my lungs were not clear. However she did give me another breathing treatment and when she listened again she decided my lungs were clear enough to proceed. The surgery lasted 3 hours. They sent me home with antibiotics to take 4 times a day. Prednisone to take for 5 days and a pain killer. I have only taken one pain kiler because I have not been in that much pain. Friday I have the packing taken out and on the 10th I go back for the final checkup by the doctor. The doctor told my son when I came out of surgery that he had no idea my polyps were as exstensive as they were. He said even after the polyps were removed I had infectious pus. I was not surprised because I has lost the ability to take any air through my nostrils. I think my only saving grace from becoming sicker than I did from the bacteria was that I took a lot of vitamin C and Enchinacia pills. I'll report back when the packing comes out.
