Hi:
I think I have Lyme and I have interstitial cystitis and am brand new here.
I have a history of recurrent sinus infections, though not chronic. I get them,
they go away
and then I am fine until my next one. I went 8 months before this last one.
My last infection early december cleared up with Augementin for14 days, but I
continued
to have the most insane sinus pain, pressure, facial pressure, tooth pain etc
even though
there was no mucous.
The ENT did CT Scan and saw nothing, though at that point he had put me on
Prednisone
and I don't know that inflammation would have shown up due to being on day 4 of
Prednisone. It was a 9 day course or Prednisone starting at 60 mg and tapering
down. I
was up for 7 nights, ended up in the ER and had to stop it. It didn't help much
either, the
first few days the sinus pain resolved, but as I tapered down, the pain came
back even
worse. Since the Prednisone I have had a lot more tooth pain from the sinuses.

Since then, I have had another sinus infection which I am on Avelox for. I am
in DIRE pain
still. The mucous is now clear, but still sticky and hard to blow out. I have
KILLER sinus
pain and pressure, behind the eyes, above the eyes, bridge of the nose, cheeks
and
TOOTH PAIN. When I lay down, as soon as I lay down, all my teeth have a feeling
of
pressure and by middle of the night the upper molars all ache. I have been
dealing with
this now for 2 months of nonstop dire pain!
I was referred to a neurologist and had a brain MRI which was normal. The ENT
just did a
nasal swab to culture for fungus. The pain is 24/7. I have no more infection,
morning
congestion, but nonstop insane face pain/pressure which I KNOW is from sinuses.

I suspect I have Lyme though I never have had a definite positive result through
IGENEX. I
have a C4a level of 9000 if you know what that is and my IGM immunoglobulin is
always a
bit elevated.

I want to die from this pain, but I have two little children and really what I
want is release
from my suffering, not so much to die of course. I cry all the time and am
severely
depressed because of the pain in the sinuses.

Does ANYBODY have any ideas of what I could do from here? The neurologist said
to take
Neurontin incase the Trigeminal Nerve is irritated from all the inflammation
since this
nerve does go into the sinuses, teeth etc. I really don't like the side effect
profile of this
drug. I have percoset for pain, but it make me feel sick to my stomach, plus I
hate to take
it since it is a narcotic. I have done all the saline, neti pots, neilmed rinses
one can
imagine, I have tried decongestants etcetcetc.

What I am dealing with is chronic sinus inflammation in the absence of infection
and with
a normal CT sinus scan.

I can't go on much more with this pain and condition.
Can anybody think of anything that might help? My LLMD wants to put me on Low
Does
Naltrexone and ordered it from a compound pharmacy.
Please help!

I STRONGLY SUGGEST that you go to some other ENT.  If that's not possible, fiorecet is the only thing that eases my constant pain.  percoset, darvo-whatever...

I'm glad you are seeing a LLMD already. Have you considered going gluten-free? This helped my chronic inflammation a ton, throughout my whole body, including...
