Unrecognized

Harm of 2-butoxyethanol?

Another synonym for 2-butoxyethanol is ethylene glycol monobutyl ether.

A solvent & Pesticide the Gulf War Troops 1990-1991 were exposed to

 original source

C6H14O2/CH3(CH2)2CH2OCH2CH2OH

A pet peeve of mine is that so many affected by this chemical, give credit to the multiple side effects - & not the primary cause of harm.

5-24-04 Just this week, someone I know is at near end of life with liver failure: very swollen (she looks pregnant) and legs swollen up so much that her knees don't bend. The more she shared on her symptoms, the more I started wondering about 2-butoxyethanol poisoning. Her thyroid is too low in its counts; she has now started having kidney stones (which could be from this metabolic imbalance). I've seen her have headaches that were horrible and she turned white as a sheet. She said she had headaches from the age of 5 so badly that she was taken to the doctor for them. She shared that her mother died 25 years ago ... of, you know, the long list including kidney cancer/failure ....

Has she had a retic ratio? Not likely.
Are the doctors going to be able to help her? Not likely

(Sue did die:  9-29-04)

Some explanations

There's a woman in our town ... who had a brain tumor behind her eye & they peeled half of her head skin back to take it out. (I thought to myself that if one of her parents were harmed by this 2-butoxyethanol that she would be more at risk for brain tumors and leukemia). 5-24-04 as I walked in the National Cancer 'walk-a-thon' sponsored by our college, I noticed that her dad died this year with pancreatic cancer.

In recent days we've been hearing more about brain tumors.  What kind are they?  Are they a sign of 2-butoxyethanol overexposure?

hmmn ... that's one of the cancers this chemical causes

repost 1-8-05

The chemical I suspect to be the neurotoxin that causes 'gulf war syndrome' also causes hemolytic anemia - very seldom diagnosed, but with this chemical's overexposure, ALWAYS there:  in one form or another.

Non acute or until end of term AIHA can appear to be 'normal' in blood tests doctors look at

However, it is compensated hemolytic anemia

Look for the Patterns

& other Tumors possible

And what else?
