Sarah,
If you search for my name in the posts you'll see about a year of posts about crohn's.
Also there is my AutoImmune Therapies blog that AIT sponsors, but does not exert editorial influence over.
Feel free to e-mail me personally,
Marya D

Hello, I am new to this group but have looked into the helminth studies for Crohn's Disease. I am curious, who on here is taking helminth's for Crohn's and how are you doing? How long did it take to start feeling better? Which did you take, TSuis or Hookworm? Also, what is the cost and you have to travel out of the US? What about going to Canada?

Thanks for the article. Most of the information I have heard before, but I was
really intrigued by the section mentioning "night shade" fruits and vegetables.

I am very sorry to hear this. That really is a really awful combination of
disorders.
The only helminth you can obtain in the USA is TSO from Ovamed. AIT can not
supply Hookworm or Whipworm directly to the USA, but can ship to any other
country.

Good luck
Marc

Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to this, but I have already read through much of this groups
threads going back a few years.

I have a few reservations that I wanted to get your opinions on first before I
purchase some helminths.

The first is to get your views on the safety of introducing hookworms whilst
also undergoing intensive allergen immunotherapy shots, which I am at the
moment.

The second is about dosage. My top priority is to cure my severe nasal
congestion, and I was wondering what the ideal dosage amount would be for this.
I also suffer from severe asthma, but have found that it is largely caused by my
mouth-breathing, so the rhinitis is what I want to tackle most. I would love to
hear any reports you can pass on about people who have had positive or negative
effects for their nasal congestion / rhinitis.

I live in Australia and am not at all surprised to hear that a disproportionate
percentage of Jasper's clients come from Down-Under. If there are any people
(from Australia especially) that would be willing to communicate with me about
their experience, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks guys!

(I have also messaged Jasper with these questions to get his opinion.)

Hey Rebecca

Think your only option is to find someone you know up in Canada, get it sent to their address and be there when it arrives.
Some other people on the forum have done just this.

I think your going down the right path though.

Good luck with your health :-)

Sarah,
I received a dose of hookworms to treat my Crohn's disease back in September. It took around 4 months before I began to see real results. I will be traveling to Canada soon to receive another dose of hookworms to try to see if I can get even better results. If you'd like more details about my experience, I'm blogging about it at www.lukecology.blogspot.com.

Sorry to hear about this.

There's a doctor in Boston who is treating this with IVIG therapy, but he's in some legal hot water these days.

Here's a link to a recent Boston Globe article about him:

I've seen him lecture.  He's knowlegdable, but the therapy is very, very costly.  Hope this helps.

Have a look at this post:

I have also had great results myself with hookworm for rhinitis. 35 larvae have enabled me to stop using antihistamines and daily nasal irrigation, etc. I did have a problem with the human whipworm (TTO), though. This made my rhinitis a lot worse again, but this may just have been a weird, one-off, individual reaction, and another dose of 10 hookworm larvae soon returned my nose to a healthy, snot-free state again.

Have you tried omitting all dairy products from your diet? Dairy has a strong mucus-forming effect in some people, so this is well worth a try, although, with hookworm on board, dairy probably wouldn't be a problem anyway.

In my recent research I've found that to obtain the hookworms from AIT I will
have to travel to Mexico or Canada. I have also not seen much information on
whipworm from AIT but I hear they offer it.

I'm confused because it seems that through the OVAmed website, one can obtain
whipworm through the mail in the United States, but is this same thing true with
whipworm through AIT?

The FDA is really on my bad side at the moment, and I'm trying to figure out
their illogical logic.

Our whipworm is Trichuris trichiura, or "human" whipworm, that is humans are its
definitive host. Ovamed offers Trichuris suis, or "pig" whipworm, with pigs as
the definitive host.

Consequently it is necessary to dose with Ovamed's whipworm once ever two to
three weeks, at an estimated annual cost, ex shipping of $11,000 USD at the
highest dosing level.

Comparatively human whipworm from us costs about $1,500 annually, ex shipping
and travel, and dosing is required approximately once every two years.

We could probably "legally" ship our products to the US, but our lawyer advised
me not to antagonise the FDA, so we don't and have not shipped there since they
directed us not to.

While you are waiting, Google "neti pot". You basically rinse your nose /
sinuses with roughly normal saline. It will not cure the cause but it can make
a huge difference in the side effects.

The gliadin antibodies behind Celiac Disease, Gluten Intolerance and Gluten

I am pleased to say that we have managed to develop a new method for isolating
and incubating whipworm ova. The method is much more reliable with a
significantly shorter incubation time.

I am starting to contact everyone who has expressed an interest in obtaining
whipworm over the last six months but please feel free to send me an email if
you are still interested and have not heard from me by the end of the week.

One of our first clients posts regularly here, CAL1700 I think is his screen
name, about his results for Sjogren's. he also posts his phone number and
invites calls.

Celiac responds very well to hookworm alone, but we have not had enough clients
to produce reliable stats on that one really, yet.

If you use the board search facility for Sjogren's you will no doubt find Cal's
posts and can contact him directly. I am not aware that any of our Celiac
clients participates on any forums.

I seriously doubt they would harm the worms from what little I have read of
them.

How do they taste? Have you ever eaten them other than compounded?

I like dried mushrooms, they have a musty smell I enjoy, I got a bag in Central
America and cooked them in a sauce and they had the texture of meat and an
interesting flavour.

Let me know if I am wrong ;-), or right.

This message board which is one of the only outlets that I've found for
discussion on this topic seems to be moderated, but one of my concerns is that
posts have to be approved by the moderator, who I'm assuming is Jasper, who also
happens to be the one running the show.

What I mean, is that any therapy no matter how great will have varying degrees
of efficacy in different people, and there have to be people out there who have
tried for which it did not work. Will those people with negative reviews, or
for which this therapy did not work, have an outlet to voice their opinion or
results or is their voice squelched if it's not approved?

I'm not saying the moderator will delete threads with criticism, but it is a
concern of mine that it's a possibility. I just wish the forums were a bit more
open - because negative results are just as intriguing as positive ones as far
as how much it sways my decision whether or not to follow through.

Have there been people for whom this hasn't worked? Are they allowed to post
criticism here?

Can anyone here provide the document/links regarding how the FDA currently views
hookworm therapy and hookworm larvae?

I have been poking around the FDA website for a bit with no success.

I know that people intested in Helminth Therapy have written to the
BioTherapeutics, Education and Research Foundation run by Dr. Ronald A Sherman,
and asked them to become a provider for Helminths. I also wrote recently and
asked him if BioTherapeutics would be interested in providing helminths.

The BioTherapeutics, Education and Research Foundation is a provider of both
maggots and leeches for medical use that are certified by the FDA as medical
devices. (Everyone admits it's a little weird to have an organism classified as
a medical device.)

In any case it turns out that the BioTherapeutics, Education and Research
Foundation is indeed interested in Helminth therapy and Dr. Sherman provided
this link to a nascent helminth page.

Dr. Sherman also informed me that he was working on a fall conference on
bio-therapeutics with several papers on helminth therapy, and was happy to have
the information publicized. Excerpts from the email are below.

Dear Mr. Badger -

Thank you for your letter and your interest in biotherapy.
Yes, we are an advocate of helmintherapy and helminthic therapy research.

Our web page on helmintherapy ( www.bterfoundation.org/helmintherapy) is not yet
finished, but I will do my best to update it as soon as possible. I have been
preoccupied with our upcoming International Conference on Biotherapy, scheduled
for November 11-14, 2010 in Los Angeles. Several prominent clinicians and
researchers in helminthic therapy will be lecturing at the conference. If you
are interested, it may be a good way to update yourself and meet the shakers and
movers of helminthic therapy. More information can be found at:
www.bterfoundation.org/icb/icb2010.htm

While helminthic therapy is not readily available in the US at this time,
several clinical studies are being prepared for the near future. I am working
with one lab to put together one such clinical trial; and I know of at least one
other group that is preparing to launch their own study shortly. This would
allow Americans to access helmintherapy, under the umbrella of a clinical study.
We will announce updates in this in our newsletter. Feel free to subscribe, if
you wish, at www.bterfoundation.org/register

With best wishes,

/Ronald Sherman

I am 61 and recently diagnosed with progressive MS. Recent steroid drip was
useless. I have been helped a little psychologically by something called The
Lightening Approach but I am still looking for something more specific and
medics don't seem able to offer anything.

Could helminth therapy help this condition?
If so how do I go about getting infected?

hello,
I have a bunch of food allergies plus food intolerances, (that lead to
migraines) & my allergist is offering an immuno-therapy that even if successful,
still requires careful food rotation, so I am back to considering helminthic
therapy. I am trying to look through older posts to learn what I can, (which I
was able to do a 6 months ago) but now that feature isn't working. is this a
temporary problem? is there another way to search? any insight on yahoo &/or
allegries/intolerance will be most appreciated!
-Abby
