Hi Kate, I might be wrong in thinking that etopic beats and missed beats are the
same thing.I have been having these missed beats for a few months now, sometimes
maybe 2-3 times a minute throughout the day, which seems to last for 3-4 days
then they seem to go off for a few days, then as soon as I start thinking thats
the last of them they kick off again. They do still frighten me when they are
frequent, but I have been told by the cardiologist that however frequent they
are, they're still completely harmless.I have got great comfort from this
site, and have been amazed at how many other people are going through exactly the
same thing.
I have tried all of the self help treatments that the doctor has recommended
like cutting out caffeine, alcohol, smoking.Mine does seem to have now been put
down to stress,I do have quite a stressful job but I am working on a few changes
to try to help beat the stress.
It really is a vicious circle, you get the missed beats ,you worry about them
and the worry and stress makes them worse.
It is very hard to accept when the doctor says it is a normal part of my heart
rhythm , how can that possibly be normal.I have just accepted that this is how
things are going to be and some weeks are worse than others, and try not to worry
about it to much.
