Hi I have just joined the group and I had my pacemaker fitted on 2nd
December 2008.
The surrery was quite quick and not unpleasant, before i had been
having dizzy spells for quite a few months, some were quite major and
just took mybrain over I couldn't do anything bu just sit or stand
still till it had gone, the major ones got less bad and I would feel
them start and then fade away quickly.
I only found out I had heartblock when I had a pre admission ECG
before I was going to have my eardrum replaced, otherwise I wouldn't
have knwn anything was wrong.
Since it has been fitted, I feel very much better and my legs and
feet do not hurt as much as they did. I do have diabetes but even the
feeling of numbness is less.
Iwould like to know what I can expect in the future and will I be
able to do a little exercise at the gymn, I do have osteoarthritus so
can't get on the floor or the tread mill but I am very overweight and
would like to be able to to the little I can to help me lose a bit of
weight.
It is a battle though as I am on tablets that promote weight gain
which is not uplifting i am afraid. I would like to hear from other
people who have had a pacemaker for a while.
