Good Morning, I have recently come across a new produce/tool that
seems to have the potential to change the way our youth eat their
fruits and vegetables. It is called the Produce Passport. What is a
Produce Passport, well here is an excerpt from their website
www.producepassport.com.
"The Produce Passport Book has 21 different fruits and vegetables,
of which UPC branding stickers are commonly found in most, if not
all, food stores across the United States and Canada. Each fruit or
vegetable in the Produce Passport has a brief description about it,
its particular nutritional values, the top five producing countries,
a flag of one of those countries where it is grown along with a
cartoon fruit character and a background map of the part of the
world it comes from."
Basically the stickers on the fruits and vegetables are put into
this book that seems to be geared towards children, one completed
they can send away for a prize. Here is a link to that may help a
bit more. http://www.producepassport.com/producepassport.php
I ordered a couple books and gave them to my nieces (age 7 and 11)
and nephew (age 12) and they absolutely loved them, my brother says
he has never seem his children want to eat so much fruits and
vegetables. When ever they want a snack no they ask for an apple or
orange.
I believe this is a produce/tool for parents and teachers that could
actually make a real difference in the shocking news about child
obesity.
I hope if you are looking for a solution for your child, that you
take a good look at this product. Child Obesity can be beaten, but
it will be by helping change their eating habits one child at a time.
