Delicious Pu-erh Tea for Pu-erh Lovers

Golden Moon Tea

Pu-erh tea is unfamiliar to many people. But, it’s an ancient tea
that the Chinese have been drinking for centuries. Pu-erh tea is
named for the region in China where it is grown. It is a black
tea - but with a twist. Pu-erh is fully fermented like black tea,
but then it is aged. Unlike regular black tea, pu-ehr is not
designed to be consumed when fresh, but after it has gone through
this aging period.
The full fermentation that pu-erh goes through gives it a very
distinct, earthy flavor. Like fine wine, pu-erh is believed to
get better with each passing year. In fact, pu-erh connoisseurs
classify this tea by its age. Pu-erh is also made from a
different type of tea tree. The tea tree used to create pu-erh is
grown only in the Yunnan province of China.
The leaves are covered with a fine white hair and the chemical
composition of the leaves is different. And, unlike other teas,
first flush pu-erh is not considered the finest harvest of the
tea. Larger leaves from later harvests are considered the best.
The leaves are moderately fermented and then dried during
processing.
Then, they are sometimes formed into cakes before being stored
outside. Exposure to the heat and air is part of the maturing
process of pu-erh. Later, the tea is moved underground where it
ferments for several years. When brewed, the tea is red in color
and has a very mellow flavor.
Pu-erh is very prized in China. The oldest trees in the Yunnan
Province are thought to produce the very best pu-erh, which is
held in high esteem for medicinal purposes. It is often served
with Dim sum meals, because it is believed to aid digestion. It
has a very earthy flavor, and an aroma reminiscent of mushrooms.
Pu-erh is known for helping reduce fat in the body, and for
lowering cholesterol. Many studies have been performed on this
tea, and have shown it to have many benefits in protecting our
health. And, it’s delicious, too.
Pu-erh is somewhat difficult to find in the US. It is not nearly
as popular here as in other countries, so many tea companies do
not carry it. It’s a bit pricier than some other teas, and gets
more expensive as it gets older. However, if you wish to try this
unique tea experience, you can find an excellent Pu-erh example
from quality tea companies. Most of their tea is made from large
leaves, and has a rich, red color.
In order to enjoy some of the best pu-erh some of the best you
can find in this country. It is aged for several years in
underground caves before it is released for sale. In addition to
the typical earthy aroma that pu-erh is known for, this pu-erh
has a slightly floral note that makes it palatable to a wider
range of tea drinkers.
If you’ve never tried pu-erh, you may be wondering if you’ll like
it. It’s certainly true that pu-erh has a different taste than
other black teas you’ve tried and it is vastly different from
green or white teas. When you’re ready to try this ancient
treasure, trying Golden Moon’s is your best bet for a couple of
reasons:
1) Buy from a company that has a reputation for only choosing the
best teas. So, if you’re going to try pu-erh, you may as well
start with the best.
2) Chose a company that offers a money back guarantee on all
their teas. Chances are good that you’re going to love pu-erh.
It’s mellow and sophisticated flavor appeals to nearly all tea
lovers. But, just in case you don’t - it’s nice to know that your
supplier will return your money, no questions asked.
3) Tour supplier foesn’t have to be the biggest tea company but
it should be the best. Look for a compay that has won awards for
quality.
Pu-erh is a rare treat that many tea drinkers have never
experienced. And, it’s one of the more expensive teas on the
market. But, once you’ve tried it, you’re sure to be hooked. It’s
likely that you’ll want to add pu-erh to your regular tea
drinking repertoire. And, with a quality pu-erh supplier you
needn’t be concerned about the price. Quality teas are good for
multiple infusions, so the per cup price is actually quite low.
Pu-erh is an interesting twist on other teas you’ve had. Plus,
adding pu-erh tea to your diet is healthy for you. Pu-erh can
help keep fat levels and cholesterol levels under control and can
help aid in the digestive process. So, order some pu-erh tea
froma quality supplier today and be on your way to experiencing
great taste and better health.

Is Bottled Water Better Than Tap Water?

Element H2O

As more studies come to light that bring the long-term safety of
tap water into question, many people find themselves wondering if
bottled water is the better choice for consumption, cooking,
tooth brushing and more. When the facts about bottled water and
tap water are presented, many people make the decision to go
bottled. While tap water can and often is technically safe
according to government standards, the trace substances found
within can be of grave concern.
Concerns About Tap Water
The safety of tap water has long been a major concern for
government agencies and the general public, as well. The
potential pollutants that can find their way into the public
water supply are quite extensive.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires public water
suppliers to test for more than 90 different types of
contaminants. Despite the rigorous testing procedures that are in
place in most jurisdictions, many public water supplies fail - in
some cases, multiple times.
The Hillsborough County Water Department, since renamed Water
Resource Services, suffered from multiple system failures in the
early 2000s. This seemingly well regulated water supplier,
serving the Tampa Bay area, suffered from repeated coliform
contaminations and even an e. coli scare. This system is not
alone in its failure to meet federal regulations despite the use
of chloramines and other chemicals that are designed to remove
potential hazards from potable water.
While the EPA does require extensive testing and requires each
public water supplier to provide full disclosure in the form of
an annual report to water users, government regulations do not
cover every eventuality. This was made quite evident thanks to a
recent Associated Press study that revealed the presence of
pharmaceuticals in the public water supply in jurisdictions all
over the United States. The investigation turned up evidence that
shows some 41 million Americans might be impacted by medications
found within their water.
The five-month study focused on water systems throughout the
United States and found contamination - including antibiotics,
anticonvulsants and more - in some 24 different metro areas.
While the medications were found in trace amounts, the long-term
impacts of consuming the water are unclear, the AP reported.
The medications themselves are thought to enter into the public
water supplies via natural human elimination. Toilet water, which
would contain traces of medication, is flushed and sent to
wastewater treatment facilities. From here, treated wastewater is
released back into the environment. Eventually, that same water
ends up back in rivers, reservoirs, lakes and aquifers, which are
the sources of public drinking water.
While the public water supply is well regulated and the water
does undergo a great deal of treatment, systems are subject to
failure. The long-term impacts of such failures remain unclear.
The Bottled Water Difference
Bottled water offers a distinct difference over tap water in a
number of cases. While it's true that some bottled waters do
come from the public water supply, many factors can make it
distinctly unique and even a great deal safer.
According to the International Bottled Water Association, there
are a number of things that make bottled water the better choice.
Even in regard to the trace medicines found in tap water, Dr.
Stephen Edberg of Yale's School of Medicine says that bottled
water undergoes processes that are quite effective in protecting
against the substances the AP reported finding in tap water.
Some of the measures that can help make bottled water stand out
above tap include:
* Regulations - Just like tap water, bottled water is regulated
by government agencies. While tap is overseen by the EPA, bottled
water is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This
organization requires that bottled water manufacturers adhere to
the FDA's inspection, labeling, safety and quality requirements.
* Extra treatment - Most bottled water products undergo further
treatments beyond what the public water supply is subjected to.
Treatment can include reverse osmosis, filtration, distillation
and more, depending on the particular supplier and the type of
water in question.
* Labeling laws - Companies that do not choose to further treat
their bottled water beyond what public water suppliers perform
are required by the FDA to clearly say so in their labels.
* IBWA standards - Companies that belong to the International
Bottled Water Association must adhere to strict standards that go
beyond what the federal government requires. Members are
subjected to plant inspections once a year that help insure that
standards are being met.
While bottled water can start out the same as tap, it often
undergoes further treatment that is designed to make it the safer
choice.
Purified Is Often The Best
If concerns about contaminants in the public water supply are
high, purified bottled water is often one of the best choices to
make for drinking and more. This type of bottled water is more
heavily treated. The distillation process that is required to
create distilled oxygenated water, for example, is designed to
remove impurities and create a cleaner, safer source of drinking
water.
Answering the question of which is better bottled or tap often
comes down to personal choice in regard to taste. If cleaner,
safer water is desired, however, the facts about bottled make the
answer quite clear. Thanks to the extra treatments many bottled
waters are subjected to, this option stands out against the
competition.

Whether you want to prevent heart disease, lower your blood
pressure, increase your energy level or attain those weight loss
goals from New Year's, right now is the perfect time to take
control of your health. With February-American Heart Month-just
ending and March-National Nutrition Month(r)-blowing in, you have
plenty of motivation and support to make positive nutritional
changes.
The American Heart Association recommends DASH (Dietary
Approaches to Stop Hypertension) as a nutritional program all
Americans should follow, and it is also featured in the USDA's
2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the U.S. High Blood
Pressure Guidelines.
Not another fad, the DASH Diet was developed by researchers and
based on scientifically sound nutritional principles. This eating
plan, which is rich in nutrient-dense fruits, vegetables, whole
grains and low-fat dairy and reduced in red meat, fats, and
sweets, been documented to help both women and men effectively
lower their blood pressure and cholesterol, maintain a strong,
well-functioning heart, lose weight and simply feel better all
around.
Typically, dieters will stick with a program for two or three
weeks, then give up when it becomes too difficult to maintain.
The DASH Diet is easy to adopt as part of a long-term lifestyle.
It does not require strict calorie counting, supplementation or
the elimination of any food group or category. Rather, it
incorporates real foods that are commonly found in any grocery
store, allows dieters to choose how they plan to meet their
serving goals with foods that they enjoy, and offers simple yet
inventive recipes for a change of pace.
The DASH for Health(tm) program, based on the Dash Diet, is
designed to help members improve their eating and exercise
habits, lose weight sensibly and feel healthier with recipes,
fitness tips, online meal tracking and more. In various follow-up
studies, people who participated in the online program offered by
DASH for Health(tm) were consistently found to have lost weight
and lowered their blood pressure significantly. In fact, after
only a few weeks, many participants observe that they feel
healthier, slimmer and even younger, as a result of the increased
energy they experience.
Best of all, by following the program consistently, you'll enjoy
a stronger heart, a slimmer body and a healthier you throughout
2008-and for your entire life!

almost everyone's vocabulary; spring cleaning is a great way for
you to take a much closer look at what you have, what you need

Cleaning your home - when a healthy home is your goal - is about
far more than just going through the kids' rooms and getting rid
of clothes and toys that they have outgrown. Cleaning your home,
ultimately, is about taking the time to thoroughly check your
home for mold and for allergens; it's about making an effort to
ensure that your home is a healthy place for you and your family.
Rather than simply looking for the spring cleaning
recommendations that will help you to get more organized - the
spring cleaning recommendations that you can find in a wide
variety of places - why not look for those tips that will help
you to create a healthy home for you and your family? Rather than
focusing on simply getting things tidied up during your
spring-cleaning, why not focus on those deep cleaning processes
that will ensure that your home is a place where you can be
healthy and not a place that may potentially make you sick?
When you take advantage of the following spring-cleaning
recommendations, you can be sure that you are making your home a
healthy home:
1. Wear protective equipment when you are focused on intensive
spring-cleaning. When you know that you could be exposed to mold,
pollen, dust mites and allergens, it's important to wear a mask
or respirator so that you won't be breathing in harmful
particulates. Wear gloves when there is a risk of coming in
contact with molds and rust as well as harsh cleaners that you
will be using. Consider wearing safety glasses if necessary as
well.
2. If you will be using a wet-dry vacuum, be sure that you take
it outside for a thorough cleaning before use. Open the wet-dry
vacuum outside in the event that water was left in the unit the
last time that it was used; that way you will be able to know
that you are not spreading mold when you vacuum. Start too with a
fresh bag - the best bag that you can buy for your vacuum.
3. Remember that outdoor spring cleaning is important as well;
check the gutters and downspouts of your home to ensure that
there are not holes that could create leaks and check for holes
around the foundation; if you find them, repair them and, if
possible trap rodents or exterminate insects that could be
causing damage to your home.
4. Check external walls around your home for mold and pay careful
attention to the insides of closets where there may be a lack of
insulation along with a lack of air circulation. If you discover
that there is mold in the closets, you are going to want to
remove any clothing that has come in contact with mold to clean
it thoroughly; if mold is growing on the clothing, it should be
discarded. Consider installing a transom to increase air
circulation or a dehumidifier to reduce moisture.
5. Check all of the plumbing in your home. Leaks can create the
potential for mold growth in your cabinets, so be sure that you
are looking for signs of water damage that may have dried as well
as current wetness.
6. Check the air vents within your home to ensure that there is
nothing obstructing the flow of air. Remove the grates, and clean
behind them; check for rust or anything else that could create
health risks.
In addition to the value of these spring cleaning recommendations
when it comes to ensuring that you have a healthy home, you will
find that these spring cleaning tips will give you the
opportunity to start thinking about those parts of your home that
are often neglected.
Ultimately, these same areas that deserve close attention while
conducting your spring-cleaning activities are areas in which
home inspectors would discover problems in a home; by focusing on
them during your spring-cleaning, you can be sure that your home
is a good, healthy place to spend your time.

Many cities do... And if you live in one of them, you could be at
significant risk for infectious as well as chemical contamination
of your drinking water.
In the U.S., only 55,000 community water systems supply water to
90% of the population.
When pipes become old and encrusted with debris and parasites
like Cryptosporum or bacteria like Campylobacter and Shigella,
purification by chlorination becomes impossible. These nasty bugs
in your water supply can lead to diarrhea, vomiting — even
spontaneous abortions in pregnant women.
Thousands of viruses, including the dangerous Norwalk virus, also
exist in the vast majority of drinking water systems. Many of
these viruses escape commonly-used water treatment methods.
How many of them end up in your drinking water?
Then, of course, there are the tens of thousands of synthetic
chemicals produced since the end of WWII. Giant industries have
dumped untold tons of waste material into lakes, rivers and
streams, polluting groundwater.
Likewise, modern farming methods have utilized billions of pounds
of pesticides, herbicides and artificial fertilizers, polluting
surface and ground water on an unprecedented scale.
No one even realized that there was a problem until biologists
started observing large numbers of dead fish, fish with tumors or
mutations, and fertility problems in animals exposed to these
pollutants.

Body Detox Tips
http://www.bodydetoxtips.com
In this article we will discuss several body detox recipes. But
before we get to that it's important to understand what is
detoxification and why do we need to do it?
The pollution your body is exposed to daily, and your consumption
of various types of junk food, coffee, aerated drinks, alcohol
etc leads to the accumulation of various toxins in your body.
These toxins are harmful, some are even poisonous substances that
need to be cleaned out of your body at regular intervals, other
wise they might prove seriously detrimental to your overall
health. Detoxification is the procedure by which you rid your
body of toxins. Body detox methods not only improve health but
also keep you in shape.
Body detox methods cleanse various internal organs of your body
like your liver, kidney, lungs and even your skin. So depending
on the organ and depending on your taste and preferences you can
choose from a number of body detox recipes. A body detox recipe
is a combination of ingredients that make up a healthy diet and
cleanse your body, revitalizing your entire system.
Here are the various body detox recipes:
Body Detox Recipe #1 Lemon Detox Recipe: add two tablespoons of
brown rice syrup to two table spoons of lemon juice, add a glass
of water. Drink this whenever you suffer from pangs of hunger,
this body detox recipe becomes the substitute of all solid food
for up to couple of weeks. Even when you are not following a
detox regimen you can easily replace a meal each day with this
invigorating drink, add a bit of grated ginger to taste if you
like.
Body Detox Recipe #2 Fresh Fruit Detox Recipe: chop fresh fruits
like banana, apple and strawberries and toss them into a salad.
This is not only a potent body detox recipe but a tasty one as
well, add extra soft tofu and honey and voila! You have a
delicious dessert.
Body Detox Recipe #3 Apple Detox Recipe: this one requires you to
live on apple drinks, cider, apple and apple sauce for as long as
the detox process is on.
These are the easier fruit based detox recites which are great to
cleanse your body with. Some other body detox recipes include:
Body Detox Recipe #4 Gazpacho Soup: this is a Spanish recipe, and
it is basically a healthy veggie soup made of cucumbers, bell
peppers, tomatoes and garlic and moistened bread mixed with olive
oil, vinegar, ice water. It's served cold and is excellent for
detoxing.
Body Detox Recipe #5 Alkalizing Raw Soup: it is a nutritious
vegetable soup which again is very effective as a body detox
recipe. It is similar to the earlier one, it is a soup made of
avocados, spinach, cucumbers, red and green pepper with other
veggies.
Body Detox Recipe #6 Mediterranean Diets: Mediterranean diets are
low on fat and carbohydrates and they provide us with healthy
alternative to the oily food we consume every day. Delicious
Turkish and Greek recipes are available online as body detox
recipes.
The trick to a body detox is to be on the look out for the
perfect body detox recipe which provides you with wholesome food,
fresh veggies and fruits, herbal tea, raw nuts etc. before
starting your detox always take a week's break from junk food,
caffeine, etc and prepare your body for the detox regimen by
eating light but healthy food.

Is There Such a Thing As Healthy Junk Food?
Copyright (c) 2008 Mark Hyman, M.D.
The UltraSimple Diet
http://www.ultrasimplediet.com
Can junk food be healthy?
The food industry certainly wants you to think so!
That’s why they’re creating an increasing number of foods with
health claims.
From vitamin-spiked Diet Coke, to whole-grain Pop Tarts, from
misleading labels on Tyson chicken, to McDonald’s salads laden
with high-fat salad dressing, marketing claims abound.
But are these foods actually good for us?
In Michael Pollan’s new book “In Defense of Food,” he argues
against “nutritionism,” or removing nutrients from whole foods
and putting them into processed food or taking them as
supplements for their health benefits.
Don’t let these ploys fool you.
Be suspicious of any food that comes in a package, box, or a can.
Most of these products just aren’t real food.
Let me tell you about one of my patients.
He’s a food scientist who invents new foods in the lab by mixing
chemicals. I call them “Frankenfoods.”
But working with these chemicals all the time was making my
patient sick. We tried hard to lessen his exposure to them.
One day, he brought me an industry journal called “Food Business
News.” I found it shocking.
The publication was filled with marketing ploys to help the
industry give their poor-quality foods the appearance of being
healthy.
One ad was for Food Ingredient Solutions, a company that makes
food dyes to color junk food with natural pigments.
Another was for Tyson Foods, which cleverly labels their chicken
as “produced without antibiotics that impact antibiotic
resistance in humans.” That means they did use antibiotics --
just not ones that cause problems in humans.
Another article focused on a company called Fitch Ratings, which
said that innovation in the food industry will continue in areas
of “perceived” health and wellness, convenience, and ethnic
products.
That’s right.
It’s only “perceived” health and wellness -- not actual health
and wellness.
That means that you just need to make people believe they are
eating or drinking something healthy. Whether it is actually
healthy doesn’t matter.
And there were also advertisements for whole-grain Lean Pockets,
which are the same old processed pocket sandwiches with some
flecks of fiber added to make you think you’re eating healthy
food.
I also saw an ad for something called Vegi Pure, a
cholesterol-lowering product that adds plant phytosterols to junk
food.
As you can see, the food industry is doing all it can to convince
you to choose its junk foods disguised as healthy foods.
Instead, take a cue from Michael Pollan. He says, “Eat food
[meaning real, whole food]. Not too much. Mostly plants.”
So what should you eat?
Choose food that comes from a farm, not a lab - and then you
won’t have to think about what all these claims mean.
You’ll be eating healthy food, naturally. Here is some more
information about what to eat:
* Whole, real food such as vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts,
seeds, whole grains, lean animal protein like small wild fish and
poultry, and whole omega-3 eggs.
* Small amounts of grass-fed, antibiotic- and hormone-free beef
or lamb.
So don’t believe food scientists’ attempts to make you believe
you need special ingredients to stay in good health - Choose
whole, real food instead!
Now that’s food for thought.

The Many Advantages Of Purified Bottled Water
Copyright (c) 2008 Jon M. Stout

With concerns about contaminants in the public water supply
running high, many people are turning to bottled water to
alleviate fears. Purified bottled water is one choice that some
people are discovering offers some distinct advantages. This type
of bottled water is a little different than others.
Why Public Water Is A Concern
The public water supply has long been a source of worry for
governmental agencies and consumers alike. Water systems can
sometimes fail and when they do the consequences can be dire.
Beyond impurities, public water systems are also subject to
backflow contamination and other points of breach.
While the public water supply is subject to tight regulations,
problems still exist. Examples of system failures abound. Perhaps
the most notable study in recent years involves the Associated
Press five-month investigation into the public drinking water
supply and potential medicinal contamination. The study's
results are rather eye opening.
According to the AP, some 41 million Americans are impacted by
drinking water that shows some form of pharmaceutical
contamination. In some water systems, more than 50 different
medications were found in trace amounts in the supply.
While public health officials say the levels of medicine found in
the AP's study are well below concern levels, not all experts
are convinced. Scientists and physicians are unclear of what the
long-term effects of drinking pharmaceutical laden water will
prove to be.
Beyond the AP's study, the potential for contamination in the
public drinking water supply has long been known. To protect
against it, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires
suppliers to test for more than 90 different substances. These
substances range from highly dangerous e. coli and heavy metals
to nitrates and beyond. While the EPA demands strict testing
procedures, the fact is some water systems fail and the problems
are not detected until the water has been released for general
consumption.
Bottled Water Offers An Advantage
Bottled water in and of itself is often seen as a superior choice
for drinking over tap water. Bottled water suppliers are subject
to many regulations that meet or exceed those set by the EPA
although they are enforced by the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration instead.
The distinct advantages of bottled water versus tap are found in
the extra layer of processing that many bottled water products
are subjected to. Thanks to FDA guidelines, bottled water
suppliers that do not treat their source water are required to
state so clearly on their labels.
While it's true that many bottled water companies do get their
water from the tap, they take the cleansing and treating
processes farther. This means that consumers are generally
receiving products that are cleaner and safer than the public
supply can afford. Plus, backflow issues do not come into play.
Backflow occurs when water pumped out of the public water supply
is suddenly sucked back in. Cross-contamination with tanker
trucks, swimming pools and other similar depositories can and
does happen thanks to this phenomenon.
In addition to the more obvious advantages bottled water
provides, there are other benefits that can come along with
making this choice. Many bottled water providers, for example,
are voluntary members of an organization call the International
Bottled Water Association. Members of this group subject
themselves to stricter standards than the federal government
demands in regard to purity and safety. To retain membership,
suppliers must agree to surprise annual inspection of their
plants and they must agree to further testing than the law calls
for.
In general, bottled water is the superior choice. The purified
variety, however, can give consumers a greater peace of mind.
Why Purified Is Different
Purified bottled water undergoes a slightly different treatment
process than most other types of bottled water and especially tap
water. To earn the title "purified," water must be treated
through reverse osmosis, distillation or another similar,
advanced means of purification. Purified bottled water might
start out from the tap or come directly from a spring or other
natural source, but it is processed in such a manner that makes
it distinctly different than other choices.
Purified oxygenated bottled water is further treated by the
infusion of oxygen molecules after the distillation process
removes contaminants. The end result of the purified oxygenated
water creation process is a product that is cleaner, safer and
quite often better tasting than other waters.
Many experts consider purification through a steam
distillation/oxygenation process to be the most effective.
The Advantages Of Purified
Purified bottled water can deliver some advantages that other
forms of bottled water and especially tap water cannot. They
include:
* A greater degree of contamination removal - The extra steps
taken to create purified bottled water deliver peace of mind
along with this type of product.
* Better taste - Many find the chemical free, oxygen infused
taste of purified oxygenated bottled water is simply better than
tap and other bottled waters.
* Less guesswork - The fact is public water can often be a
crapshoot. Thanks to the complexity of the delivery systems and
the potential of backflow contamination, tap water drinkers are
almost never sure what they are getting. While contaminations are
few and far between, they can and do happen.
Purified bottled water delivers advantages that other sources of
drinking water cannot deliver. When a clean taste, purity and
safety are desired, this type of water fits the bill.

Increase Your Nutrient Absorption - Increase Your Muscle Mass
Copyright (c) 2008 Asger Haug
Bodybuilding Nutrition
http://bodybuilding-nutrition.freakygrowth.com/
This is a simple and profound way to dramatically increase your
energy and muscle mass. It can also ensure that you save lots of
your time and money.
In fact, you will probably start to eat a lot less than normal.
Due to maximum absorption you will not need to consume the huge
massive amounts of food in order to get all the nutrients that a
natural bodybuilder needs to increase muscle.
We all know that to build muscle we need nutrients. Therefore
many people consume massive amounts of them. They use nutrient
supplements and eat high nutrient foods but there is no guarantee
that they will all be absorbed. In fact, even though some people
consume all the right foods, they consume them in such a way that
almost all nutrients are wasted and actually has a negative
affect on their health.
Absorbing nutrients happens through digestion. Many people have
the notion that all we need to do in order to get the nutrients
is eat the right foods. We consume, the body breaks down and
absorbs. It’s pretty basic.
However, despite what most people believe, the process of
digestion is actually a lot more complicated. Different foods all
demand different things from our digestive system. Even though we
are omnivores and therefore capable of digesting many different
foods, it does not mean we can do so all at once. There are
various stages and environments the body needs to create in order
to digest each sort of food. Asking the body to create different
environments at the same time for digestion will not have any
success.
The fact is that no being in nature is designed for complex
meals. I mean, have you ever seen an animal gathering up
different kinds of foods before eating? The answer is no because
foods are not meant to be combined. Thanks to our phenomenal
body, we are capable of combining foods, but this still comes
with consequences. The consequence of low nutrient absorption is
no increased muscle mass; sometimes even decrease.
High protein foods, for example, require a highly acidic
environment which takes place in the stomach in order to denature
the protein. Contrary to that, starchy foods require a mildly
alkaline environment for digestion to take place in the mouth and
small intestine. This is basic chemistry that we have all learned
in school, but do we all know what happens when you take
something acidic and mix it with a base/alkaline?
The answer is simple; they neutralize. In its best attempt to
digest the foods, the body now keeps secreting alkaline and
acids, using up all the minerals, vitamins, enzymes, salts, other
nutrients and a huge amount of energy. This makes you
unbelievably tired and makes you feel bloated because the body
needs to overwork. A simple digestion of meat before it goes into
your intestines would normally take around 3 hours. If starch and
meat are combined, this process has now increased to up to 9
hours. But even worse, now the proteins decompose and the starch
ferments, creating a place for dangerous microforms that feeds on
your nutrients. This is why you are still tired when you wake up
in the morning. You slept but your body did not rest. Your body
worked all night to try break down all the food you ate for
dinner.
Think about the classical American meals: fish and chips, potato
and meat, sandwich and ham, chicken with rice, burger and fries.
Give your body a break! It is for your own sake. So here is the
solution to have maximum nutrient absorption, energy, health,
quality sleep and consequently more muscle mass: proper food
combining.
Proper food combining is essential, and by following the
instructions I will give you, I assure full success. You must not
forget to go easy on yourself as it might be hard at the start.
The more creative and positive you are at the beginning, the
better this will work for you and remember to make it work for
you, not against you.
Here are the steps to be followed.
1. Low-sugar (less than 8 percent sugar) fruits and veggies
combine with everything.
2. Eat starches with veggies, low-sugar fruits and healthy oils.
No animal protein!
3. Eat animal protein with vegetables. Try fish on a bed of
steamed greens or a crunchy salad with lemon.
4. This is crucial: Eat high-sugar fruits on their own. Because
of their sugar, fruits are digested extremely rapidly; therefore
if occupied in the stomach waiting in 37 degree Celsius for other
foods to be digested it will rot and ferment. Take a banana, peel
it and put it in the sun and wait for 3 hours (or even 9, if you
ate it with protein and starches) and watch what happens. It will
rot. Everybody knows it is stupid to consume rotten food.
5. Healthy fats and oils go with starches, vegetables and
low-sugar fruits. Nuts can be combined with all foods. This is
the one single exception to high-sugar fruits. Try a tasty
banana-almond shake.
That is it! It may sound hard so try to go first without starch
and animal protein, and then adapt to the rest of the program.
After only two days, you will be amazed with how active you will
be after eating meals. The refreshing feeling you will have when
you wake up in the morning will make you notice that you actually
don’t need to consume the same amount of food to feel full and
build mass. You will in fact consume less and build more.
Before each meal, remember to take a deep breath and relax. If
you eat while you are stressed, the digestive system and enzymes
shut down totally. And remember never to drink iced water with
meals!

Yeast Infection Treatment That WORKS
Copyright (c) 2008 Linda Allen
Yeast Infection No More
http://www.yeastinfectionnomore.com/index4.html
Treatments for yeast infections can generally be categorized in
three ways: home treatments for yeast infections with the goal of
calming the symptoms; over-the-counter and prescribed medicines;
and the holistic all-natural treatments. These remedies range in
duration of effect, ease of use, acceptability, and above all, in
their capacity to bring long-term control and prevention of
candida infection.
The chief reason for the enormous interest in yeast infection
remedies is the increase in prevalence of this medical condition
during recent decades, above all among women. Almost
three-quarters of all women will suffer at least one such
infection in their lifetime. A patient with yeast infection
undergoes the unpleasant hardship of burning sensation in the
areas concerned, lasting fatigue, muscular and joint pain,
inflammations, drowsiness and lack of energy.
In essence, Candiasis, that is yeast infection, is brought on by
one of four strains of candida: Candida albicans, Candida
glabrata, Candida tropicalis, and Candida krusei. The most often
occurring is Candida albicans, which causes some 80% of all yeast
infections. Most people have these microbes in the warm, moist
areas of their body, such as the vagina, mouth, male sexual
organs and the bowels.
In someone who is healthy, the yeast microbes are kept in check
by probiotics (beneficial microorganisms) and are kept under
control causing little or no damage. When Candida moves from
yeast to fungus however (a condition called overgrowth of candida
brought on by a group of internal factors), this can provoke
symptoms of yeast infection.
Over-the-counter and prescription medicaments such as creams,
lotions, pills, lozenges and suppositories for the vagina seem to
be much in demand as treatment for yeast infections. These
medicaments can be sorted into two classes:
1. Drugs base on Azole such as fluconazole and miconazole that
serve in the treatment of generic C. albicans WC. These
anti-fungal drugs inhibit the creation of ergosterol, part of the
yeast cell wall, to weaken the yeast cell before killing it.
2. Polyene antifungals such as nystatin and amphotericin B. These
drugs, also anti-fungal, penetrate the ergosterol yeast cell to
make artificial holes in the yeast-wall to eradicate the yeast.
In 1990, the FDA panel (Food and Drug Administration) gave its
approval of the greater part of what were the prescribed
anti-yeast medicaments to be sold over -the-counter directly to
the customer. Availability of these products was increased, as
were also the negative side effects like wrong self-diagnosis and
excessive medication.
The truth is that most medicaments for yeast infection do no more
that bring temporary relief with a multitude of side effects
including the death of beneficial bacteria in the body,
headaches, transpiration, throwing up, pain or ulcers.
A number of yeast infection sufferers have elected to avoid
medication and use a more natural solution, such as reducing
empty carbohydrates and sweets, maintaining personal hygiene,
detoxing and using different herbal supplements. Research done
recently in the Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York confirms
that yogurt (the type containing active lactobacillus acidophilus
bacteria) can be effective as a natural remedy for yeast
infection of the vagina.
It should be noted that as yeast infection is caused by a group
of factors from the environment, lifestyle and the body itself,
most home cures are not really cures for this complex condition.
To cure your yeast infection in a secure way that works for a
long time, holistic therapy for yeast infection is clearly
recommended. Holistic therapy for yeast infection is based on
sweeping changes to diet and lifestyle (for example, stopping
Candida-provoking foods, taking diet supplements of vitamins and
minerals to strengthen the immune system, and so on), detox, and
the ingestion of specific herbal supplements. The holistic
approach gives an all-natural and secure way to treat yeast
infection to stop and permanently prevent its return.

costs.
Using strict criteria, the Lewin Group analyzed scientific
studies on nutritional supplements, then used our government’s
own accounting techniques to determine their economic impact.
They looked only at Medicare recipients and women of childbearing
age, and only at supplements that have been proven to help beyond
any scientific doubt:
1. Calcium and vitamin D for osteoporosis 2. Folic acid for
prevention of birth defects 3. Omega-3 fatty acids for heart
disease 4. Lutein and zeaxanthin for prevention of major
age-related blindness, or macular degeneration
Let’s start with calcium and vitamin D.
First, the Lewin Group study used older research. Newer studies
suggest that higher doses of vitamin D3 (1,000 to 2,000 IU
daily), may be even more helpful.
But even with that older data, the researchers found that giving
older people 1,200 mg of calcium and 400 IU of vitamin D a day
would decrease bone loss and hip fractures. They estimated these
supplements could prevent more than 776,000 hospitalizations for
hip fractures over five years, saving $16.1 billion.
Next let’s look at omega-3 fats.
Among other benefits, omega-3 fatty acids help prevent cardiac
arrhythmias, improve cell membrane function, reduce inflammation,
and lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
According to the Lewin Group, giving about 1,800 mg of omega-3
fats a day to Medicare-age people could prevent 374,000
hospitalizations from heart disease over five years and save $3.2
billion.
They also estimated the economic effects of lutein and
zeaxanthin, carotenoids found in yellow and orange vegetables.
Taken as supplements, these have been shown to treat macular
degeneration, which is the loss of central vision, a major reason
people over age 65 require nursing home care.
They found that taking 6 to 10 mg of supplemental lutein and
zeaxanthin daily would help 190,000 individuals avoid dependent
care as a result of macular degeneration. The savings? $3.6
billion over five years.
Finally, the Lewin Group looked at folic acid. If 11.3 million
women began taking just 400 mcg daily of this vitamin before
getting pregnant, we could prevent birth defects in 600 babies,
saving $1.4 billion over five years.
These four supplements could create a combined savings of $24
billion over five years.
Yet the typical American diet often doesn’t contain the necessary
amount of these nutrients, putting us at higher risk for the
problems mentioned above.
In fact, the majority of us are deficient in one or more
nutrients at the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) level, which
is the minimum amount necessary to prevent deficiency diseases.
That’s not even the amount often needed for optimal health and to
prevent conditions like blindness, osteoporosis, heart disease,
cancer, diabetes, and dementia.
That’s why I firmly believe we should all take certain
nutritional supplements. These recommendations are supported by
mainstream medical journals (1, 2).
Here is the regimen I recommend for everyone:
1. A high-quality multivitamin and mineral that contains mixed
carotenoids (including lutein and zeaxanthin), at least 400 mcg
of folate, and a mixed B-complex vitamin
2. Calcium-magnesium with at least 600 mg of calcium and 400 mg
of magnesium. Choose calcium citrate or chelated versions of
minerals, not calcium carbonate or magnesium oxide, which are
poorly absorbed
3. Vitamin D3, 1,000 to 2,000 IU a day (people who are deficient
in vitamin D will need more)
4. Omega-3 fatty acids that contain the fats EPA and DHA, 1,000
to 2,000 mg a day.
This regimen is relatively inexpensive, risk free—and the
benefits are enormous. You’ll have better immune function, brain
function, and higher energy and will also prevent many future
health problems.
I think that’s worth it.

How To Gain Muscle Naturally With Small Changes
Copyright (c) 2007-2008 Chris Francis, All Rights Reserved
Natural Bodybuilding
http://natural-bodybuilding.freakygrowth.com/
Gaining weight is not that hard. Gaining muscle, however, and
gaining muscle naturally, is.
When I was a high school wrestler, some of us had to lose weight
and some of us had to gain weight. Thet advice for gaining weight
that we always got was, "drink lots of rootbeer shakes and eat
tons of pizza." Was the advice accurate? Yes, it was. That crap
will help you gain weight. But unless you're an actor preparing
for a role as a fat fella, you probably don't want to gain just
any kind of weight; you want to gain muscle. And if given the
choice to gain muscle naturally or not, you will usually choose
naturally. The problem is, most people don't know what
"naturally" means and, more importantly, how you can eat
naturally?
Well, let me tell you how I gained weight naturally this past
year -- more specifically, 12 pounds of muscle. I'm not going to
bore you with calorie and gram specifics in this article; that
will come in the next one. My point is how simple changes can
make a huge difference.
For the past 3 years, I've been trying to add another 10 pounds
of muscle to my lean 160-pound frame. But it's been tough. Very
tough. Even though I've been a personal trainer and nutriton
coach for 5 years, adding muscle to my body was difficult. I did
weight-resistance training 4 times a week, each time for about an
hour, and I switched up my workouts every 6 weeks or so. I ate
six meals a day and kept track of my calories. I even made sure
the amount of protein grams I was taking in matched my body
weight. Now I did not want to lose my cardio health, so I did
sprints 3 times a week first thing in the morning, but only for
about 20 minutes.
Then last March, I was asked to come on staff at a large
Christian church in Los Angeles. Although I loved my clients and
loved seeing them grow, my heart was in full-time ministry, so I
took the job and cut my personal training down to 5 hours a week.
What does this have to do with me gaining weight? Everything!
I still hit the weights 4 times a week, but now I kept it to
about 45 minutes...simply because my free time diminihsed quite a
bit and I didn't want to cut out my relationships. And because I
have to be in to the office early, I no longer do cardio first
thing in the morning more than once a week. I still eat about 6
times a day, but now I simply eat as much as I want, and dont'
really count calories or grams or worry much about it. If I put
on a few pounds of fat, oh well. Essentially, because I love the
work I do so much,I stopped "trying so hard" to gain lean
muscle, and just let the muscle do its thing. I wasn't against
it, but I just didn't try so hard, anymore.
And after 3-4 months, I had put on a solid 12 pounds of muscle
naturally, with only 1 or 2 of them being fat.
No creatine, no mass-gain shakes, no crap. Just eating natural,
calorie-dense food and cutting back on the workouts (though they
are still intense).
So what can you learn from my experience? A few things:
1) I stopped doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty
stomach. When you're lean, you burn muscle by doing this, and it
makes adding muscle very difficult.
2) I ate more carbs...simply because I stopped keeping track of
what I "thought" should be my carb limit. When you're putting
on muscle, don't worry about keeping your carb count low (if
they're natural carbs).
3) I worked out less (about 4 sets less each time I hit the
weights). So if you've been trying and having trouble, try
cutting back.
Now I realize this article does not get very scientific, but
hopefully it makes you think about what you're doing and the
small changes you can make to your routine and lifestyle if you
want to increase your sucess with gaining weight naturally. My
next article will go more into detail about the actual workouts
and foods I ate, so stay tuned.

The DANGERS of Systemic Yeast Infection
Copyright (c) 2008 Linda Allen
Yeast Infection No More
http://www.yeastinfectionnomore.com/index4.html
Also known as an "opportunistic" infection or systemic
candidiasis, systemic yeast infection is a grave overgrowth
condition where Candida penetrates into the deeper areas of the
body. It occurs when candida evolves from its normal state of
yeast to become a type of fungus invading the blood circulation,
liver and urinary tract.
Compared to local subtypes, systemic yeast infection is very hard
to detect and eliminate.
Three levels of candidiasis exist, ranked according to severity:
1. Occasional yeast infection (for example, oral thrush, vaginal
candidiasis, candida balanitis), occurring in three quarters of
the population, especially women and infants, at least once in a
lifetime.
2. Chronic or recurring candidiasis, possibly a symptom of more
serious problems such as an impacted immune system.
3. Systemic yeast infection, affecting the whole body rather than
just one area and provoking symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy,
headaches from migraine, debilitation, dizziness, sensory
disorders, muscular pain, breathing disorders, gastrointestinal
problems like oral Thrush, diarrhea, constipation and rectal
itching. These are also symptoms of “opportunistic” infection.
When Candida species, naturally occurring in warm moist parts of
the body (vagina, mouth and intestines), multiply out of control,
yeast infections happen. When the immune system does not control
Candida growth in your body, the condition is one of systemic
yeast infection. Conditions favor systemic candidiasis, when the
immune system fails to keep control of Candida and/or when there
is high sugar/acid or toxins in the intestinal environment.
Upon systemic yeast infection happening, Candida starts to invade
all body parts and organs, including the digestive system,
respiratory system, eyes, liver, esophagus, skin and blood.
Serious “opportunistic” infection may have a high impact on the
well-being and daily activity of an individual.
There is no single cause for systemic yeast infection, which can
be provoked by different internal situations, including a
compromised immune system, deficient white blood corpuscles
(granulocytopenia), an unhealthy diet and lifestyle, neglected
local yeast infection and the loss of benign bacteria. Moreover,
various external factors can worsen an existing condition. These
include foods that nourish the yeast, antibiotics, contraceptive
pills, tight clothing and stress.
Previously the assumption was that a candidiasis was local and
could be eradicated with anti-fungal medication applied to the
skin. It is now widely understood that excessive yeast growth in
the body is the result of a deeper internal imbalance, due to
several causes or factors or a group of conditions and
circumstances. With this in mind, thinking about holistic
remedies for this medical condition may be particularly useful.
An important point is that overall holistic treatment is not the
same as simple changes in diet. Although it may already be highly
beneficial for systemic yeast infection sufferers to eliminate
candy, products made with flour and refined flour (examples
include glutinous grains, pasta, bread and cereals), as well as
reducing dairy products, alcohol, fruit and soy products (most of
these contain anti-nutrients), this is only one part of the
solution. These foods (particularly sugars and refined
carbohydrates) nourish the yeast that is favored by high-sugar
environments. Additionally, large amounts of probiotics,
vegetables (green ones in particular) and healthy fats (such as
coconut oil and avocado) are required to bring back a healthy
intestinal flora.
Dietary changes like these can bring relief immediately, but it
is the combination with a complete program of holistic treatment
for systemic yeast infection (such as homeopathic cures, herbal
remedies, changes in diet, lifestyle and detoxification) that
will resolve the hidden reason for “opportunistic” infection, and
therefore be much more effective compared to most classical
treatments that remain superficial for this condition.

Get Your Mojo Back With A Whole Body Detox
Copyright (c) 2008 John Khu
Expired Domain Secret
http://www.expireddomainsecret.com
In recent times, as stress levels get higher and higher more and
more people want to undergo a whole body detox. With a rise in
erratic lifestyle, the reasons to want a whole body detox are
many. Some want to lose some weight, while some want to get rid
of all the harmful toxins in their body. But the biggest
deterrent in starting a whole body detox is that most people
don't know how to go about it in the first place.
So here are a few safe, useful and extremely effective methods
with which you can cleanse your system of all those harmful
toxins:-
a) Tip #1: Preservatives and additives in food make them lose
their natural qualities and cause them to do harm. So, in order
to get rid of the toxins, make sure that you avoid such food at
all costs. Also, stay away from dairy, caffeine, sugary and fatty
stuffs and alcohol. Remember, that the most important way to
detox your full body is to follow a healthy diet. Because, though
our bodies usually have inbuilt methods of cleansing, an
unhealthy diet for a long period of time leads to build-up of
toxins.
b) Tip #2: Flushing out of toxins is important. So, drink plenty
of water. But remember to filter it first. Also, include lots of
fibers in your daily diet with as much fresh and raw fruits and
vegetables as you can.
c) Tip #3: There are various effective and easily available detox
cleansers in the market. Coming in easy-to-use packets and
caplets, these cleansers are very useful to cleanse your internal
organs thoroughly. As all of these are generally made from
natural herbs, they leave you feeling clean and fresh. But do
remember to check whether they are safe before you use them.
d) Tip #4: Try to go 1 to 3 days on only fruit juice. The idea is
to have as much juice as you want and abstain from everything
else for these few days. But do remember that such a drastic diet
might not suit everyone, and always check with your doctor before
starting.
e) Tip #5: Before going on a 1 to 3 day fast, always remember to
have something which will provide your body with the essential
proteins and nutrients and help it to function properly. Algae
powder and fermented soybeans are some of the dietary supplements
which are extremely good in this regard. The soybean ensures that
your colon functions properly, while the algae powder provides
the body with the much needed protein during a fast. It helps
overcome fatigue and also promotes fullness.
A whole body detox is, as we can see, not a difficult proposition
at all. These few easy steps, followed over a period of a week
ensure that you shed those extra pounds and feel rejuvenated and
fresh. You will be confident and alert and raring to go out and
start your exercise regimen. But before starting, just remember
to consult your doctor regarding any dramatic diet you may
undertake, and you shall be fine.

Chronic Yeast Infection - EXPOSED
Copyright (c) 2008 Linda Allen
Yeast Infection No More
http://www.yeastinfectionnomore.com/index4.html
A distressing health condition, chronic yeast infection is
brought on by Candida species. Candida species are pathogens that
seemingly occur in 85% of the population, but that, being
opportunists, only lead to chronic yeast infection in certain
instances.
Naturally occurring Candida species exceed 100, but only a
quarter of them are identified as triggering human yeast
infection. The most common strain is Candida albicans, and then
Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida tropicalis, and Candida
parapsilosis. About four out of five yeast infections are caused
by Candida albicans, the other one out of five coming from
Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, and other kinds of fungi.
Yeast microbes are typically to be found in many healthy people.
They live in the moisture and the warmth of areas such as the
vagina, the mouth, the bowels and the rectum. Yeast microbes are
held in check by probiotics, favorable microorganisms, and have
few negative effects in the healthy individual. Nevertheless,
when infection sets in, they multiply fast.
Yeast infection (candidiasis) may be the result of abnormal
concentration of yeast microbes, above all in moist and warm
areas of the surface of the body. The process can be accelerated
by certain conditions out of the ordinary. It is the subtype of
the yeast infection that typically determines these conditions.
For example: pregnancy, contraceptive pills, antibiotics or
hormone replacement therapy may quicken vaginal candidiasis,
whereas neglect of personal hygiene can trigger male yeast
infection. However, weakness in immunity systems can be a general
cause of recurrent yeast infection due to any subtype. Further to
this, stress or an excess of weight can also drive up the chance
of candidiasis.
The following are data concerning yeast infections:
1. Certain research indicates that the age group of 21-30 suffers
most from chronic candidiasis, after which it is the age group of
11-20.
2. Vaginal Candida infections are the most often observed,
affecting about three quarters of all women at least once in
their life. Up to two out of five women have yeast infections
that recur or of long duration.
3. Hot weather accentuates the occurrence of chronic yeast
infection as the yeast microbe is most active in warm, moist
environments.
4. Stress, either of a physical or emotional nature can
debilitate your immune system and heighten your risk of outbreaks
of cold and herpes. This can encourage the cultivation of yeast
as well.
5. Particular nutrition such as yeast foods, candy, refined
carbohydrates, dairy products (difficult to digest, high in
lactose and substances for hormone growth as well as encouraging
mucus) and wines (loaded with glucose) can bring on candidiasis.
6. Certain research indicated that eating live strains of
lactobacillus acidophilus either as a yogurt or as supplements
could contribute to preventing yeast infections. In fact, in a
study made in the last decade of the twentieth century at New
York's Long Island Jewish Medical Center showed that women
having consumed a cup of yogurt on a daily basis for half a year
were able to lower the occurrence of chronic yeast by a factor of
three. The theory however lacked substantial data as only 13
women completed the investigation.
7. Dogs as well as people can suffer from yeast infections.
Indeed, yeast turns out to be a common fact amongst many dogs
suffering from different kinds of skin disease.
The highest occurring subtypes of yeast infection are:
1. Vaginal Candida infection: developing inside the vagina or the
vulva. This is the most common kind of chronic candidiasis.
2. Oral thrush: this develops in the mouth. It is most commonly
seen in babies or in people with drastically weakened immune
systems.
3. Diaper rash: this causes inflammation in the area of the
diaper.
4. Candida balanitis: this type of yeast infection causes a rash
on the head of the penis.
5. Paronychia (infections of the tissue underlying the nail): a
kind of yeast infection habitually appearing next to the
fingernail.
6. Other Candida infections can occur almost anywhere in the
body, and often in folds of the skin: beneath the arms or the
breasts, in between toes and so on. It should be noted that each
subtype of candidiasis is of a different nature.
Usually, candidiasis is without gravity, easily treated and do
not lead to serious health consequences. In many cases, it will
disappear after a time without needing medication. On the other
hand, in certain cases, yeast infections can extend to other
areas of the body. This may indicate severe disrepair of the
internal balance of the body.
Chronic yeast infections may be just a symptom of more serious
problems, including diseases with similar symptoms that are
transmitted sexually, leukemia, diabetes and AIDS, just to give a
few examples. This explains why the manifestation of candidiasis
symptoms needs professional advice with a qualified doctor.
Although chronic yeast infections can be treated domestically
using over the counter medication or a prescription, remember
that practically all such infections are an alarm signal of a
serious internal malfunction that should be correctly handled. As
excessive growth of Candida is at the bottom of almost all
Candida infections, failing to resolve the internal problem that
is causing the symptom of discharge, rash or other related to
Candida, will not prevent the recurrence of these symptoms after
a while. More than this, failure to treat the internal problems
causing symptoms related to candidiasis could also cause grave
health complications.
While chronic candidiasis can be treated at home using an over
the counter or prescription medication, bear in mind that almost
all Candida infections are a warning sign of a major internal
imbalance that needs to be properly addressed. Since the root
cause of most infections of this type is Candida overgrowth,
unless you fix the internal problem that's causing the
discharge, rash and other Candida related symptoms, these
symptoms will re-appear after a while. Moreover, failing to
tackle the internal factors that trigger chronic yeast infection
related symptoms could often lead to serious health
complications.

Never Lose Hope In Dealing With Your Fears, Depression, And Anxiety

A Layman's Guide to Managing Fear
When your fears and depression have the best of you, it is easy
to feel that things will not get any better. This is not true.
There is much help available in today's society and the best way
to deal with your fears is to find effective ways to overcome
them. As a result, here are some techniques a person can use to
help manage their fears and anxieties.
You never know when the answers you are looking for will come to
your doorstep. Even if the thing that you feared does happen,
there are circumstances and factors that you can't predict which
can be used to your advantage. These factors can change
everything. Remember: we may be ninety-nine percent correct in
predicting the future, but all it takes is for that one percent
to make a world of difference.
Challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and
realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make you feel
fearful or depressed, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself
questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. For
example, your afraid that if you do not get that job promotion
then you will be stuck at your job forever. This depresses you,
however your thinking in this situation is unrealistic. The fact
of the matter is that there all are kinds of jobs available and
just because you don't get this job promotion doesn't mean that
you will never get one. In addition, people change jobs all the
time, and you always have that option of going elsewhere if you
are unhappy at your present location.
Some people get depressed and have a difficult time getting out
of bed in the mornings. When this happens, a person should take a
deep breath and try to find something to do to get their mind off
of the problem. A person could take a walk, listen to some music,
read the newspaper or do an activity that will give them a fresh
perspective on things. Doing something will get your mind off of
the problem and give you confidence to do other things.
Be smart in how you deal with your fears and anxieties. Do not
try to tackle everything all at once. When facing a current or
upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, break
the task into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller
tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and
increases your chances of success.
Take advantage of the help that is available around you. If
possible, talk to a professional who can help you manage your
fears and anxieties. They will be able to provide you with
additional advice and insights on how to deal with your current
problem. By talking to a professional, a person will be helping
themselves in the long run because they will become better able
to deal with their problems in the future. Managing your fears
and anxieties takes practice. The more you practice, the better
you will become.
The techniques that I have just covered are some basic ways to
manage your fears and depression, however your best bet is to get
some help from a professional and not to lose hope. Eventually,
you will find the answers you are looking for.

A Layman's Guide to Managing Fear
Sometime or another we will experience a time when we are alone.
The first step is to become comfortable with yourself and having
the self-confidence that you will be able to manage being alone.
There is nothing wrong with being alone. If being alone bothers
you then seeing a counselor can help you with these issues.
In the meantime, here is a short list of techniques that a person
can use so that the fear of being alone doesn't become a major
issue in their lives.
The first step is to find an activity that you enjoy and where
you can meet a lot of people. For instance, joining a group
activity such as a volleyball group, women's club, or making
crafts can be a great way to meet people. Doing something that
you like to do will make you happy and will increase your chances
of making friends.
Spending time with animals can be a great source of
companionship. Having a dog or cat can make us feel loved. If
you don't own a dog or cat, then volunteer at the local animal
shelter. Spending time with an animal or pet can help us to feel
better and can be of good company to all of us whether we are
alone or not.
Helping others through community service can be of some help.
There are many people out there who could benefit from your time
and talents. Helping others can give you a source of pride, help
you feel better about yourself, and can provide long lasting
friendships. Give it a try and you will be surprised.
Challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and
realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your
lonely or depressed, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself
questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. For
example, some people may think that if they are alone at the
present time then they will always be alone. This is not true.
Even if your alone today doesn't mean that you will be alone all
the time. No one can predict the future with one hundred percent
accuracy.
It isn't fun being alone, but sometimes there are worse things.
For instance, imagine that you are married or stuck in a
relationship that you can't get out of and also makes you
miserable. Not only do you have to live with this person, there
is no way to get out of the relationship because of various
financial or personal reasons. As a result, you are stuck living
with someone that you can't stand and makes you depressed every
single day of your life. With this viewpoint, being alone
doesn't sound that bad.
The important thing is to do something constructive. Sitting
around and doing nothing will not make things any better whether
it is dealing with the fear of being alone or something else. Go
out and do something that you like to do. In addition, take it
one day at a time and stay committed in trying to solve your
problem.

What Foods Acid Reflux Sufferers MUST Avoid
Copyright (c) 2008 Jeff Martin
Acid Reflux A to Z
http://www.acidrefluxatoz.com
What acid reflux foodstuffs must I stop? It's a perplexing
question for many heartburn sufferers. Changes in diet and
lifestyle have been shown to be natural components of any
long-term holistic acid treatment and they cannot be dissociated
either. A preference for healthy foods and selective nutrition to
ban certain foods and eat more of others can show long-term
health benefits to acid reflux patients.
The reduction of the consumption of unsuitable foods and the
adoption of new diet habits in particular to aid digestion could
bring about an extremely positive effect on your current medical
condition. The food we eat determines how we maintain the
delicate and natural equilibrium inside our bodies. Certain
dietary customs and nutritional habits have been shown to
contribute indirectly or directly to the degradation of a
heartburn condition. These kinds of foods are:
1. Drinks with caffeine content like coffee. They cause increase
acidity, so stop consuming large cups of coffee. Where possible,
halve your cup of coffee to give two separate drinks and drink
less coffee before going to sleep. Do not go over two cups of
coffee per day and reduce even further if you can.
2. Alcohol can also be at the same time a relaxant for the LES
muscle and an irritant for the stomach, causing an increase in
acidity and reflux.
3. Foods high in fat content have a longer digestion time and
take more effort for your body to get rid of them. They increase
the risk of acid refluxing into your esophagus and are among the
worst delinquents for triggering acid reflux symptoms. The
exceptions are fish and fish oil omega-3 fatty acids. These are
actually strong anti-inflammatory substances.
4. If you are addicted to chocolate, go for dark, organic types
in preference to others limiting your consumption to two or three
little two or three times in any week. Containing large
quantities of caffeine and fat, chocolate can also lead to
heightened acidity and degraded digestion, and thus should not be
consumed.
5. Before going to sleep, make sure that you do not drink milk or
consume any products based on milk containing a lot of calcium.
6. Leave aside food with strong mint. The same goes for herbal
tea that is mint-based. Acid reflux symptoms can be aggravated
still more by peppermint and spearmint amongst others.
7. The esophageal sphincter is also liable to open in response to
cruciferous vegetables (such as spinach, cauliflower, cabbage,
brussels sprouts, broccoli) and foods high in acid (tomatoes and
oranges, to take two examples) leading to further acid reflux.
So finally, which acid reflux food has to be taken out of your
nutrition? It doesn't matter what your current level of GERD is;
when you make the choice of an improved quality of life, you can
make the choice to terminate heartburn permanently, with a
holistic solution. You can move to eliminate acid reflux and put
your well-being and quality of life on a different level, by
making these modifications in your diet and having the right
motivation to revamp your lifestyle. The keys to solving the
problem will be yours.

How to Force Your Body To Melt Fat Like Butter In A Microwave
Copyright (c) 2008 Robert Kokoska
Fat Loss 4 Idiats
http://www.fatloss4idiats.com
There are a couple of very simple changes you can make to the way
you eat that will force your body to become a fat burning furnace
and cause you to easily drop your unwanted pounds day after day.
Did you know that the biggest reason why some people just cannot
lose any weight is because they eat the same size meals at the
exact same times?
It's true. What happens is their bodies have adapted to a
certain amount of calories because people tend to eat similar
meals at the exact same times. When you eat like clockwork, your
metabolism will work like clockwork too. You're body will begin
to prepare itself for a large breakfast each morning if that's
what you usually eat and it will do this for all of your meals.
This process of adaption will cause your metabolism to slow down
significantly and weight loss becomes extremely hard. Also, if
you don't eat enough calories each day (as with some diets) your
body will go into "survival" mode and this process will also
slow your metabolism making weight loss impossible.
To lose weight you can't allow your body to adapt to a specific
level of calories daily or a specific amount of calories at each
meal, otherwise your metabolism will begin to slow down and you
will cease losing weight. To avoid this problem you must never
consume the exact same size breakfast, lunch and dinner each day
while at the same time consuming a different total amount of
calories each day.
Keeping your body "off-balance" like this will keep your body
guessing and it won't be able to adapt because it will notice
that each meal is different. This method of weight loss is also
known as "Calorie Shifting".
If for example, you one day had a large breakfast but then the
next day you had only a small breakfast your metabolism will be
high in the morning of the second day to deal with another large
meal but you only actually ate a small meal so you will end up
burning fat after the calories in your small breakfast are used
up.
As long as you don't go too far below your minimum calorie
requirements for your age, height and body type you will begin to
lose weight. You should never reduce your minimum calorie intake
by more than 500 calories. This will prevent your body going into
"survival" mode that I talked about earlier.
To illustrate, I've drawn up a sample diet for someone who needs
a daily requirement of 2000 calories and wants to lose weight:
Day 1: 2000 Calories Total - Breakfast = 700, Lunch = 650, Dinner
= 650
Day 2: 1800 Calories Total - Breakfast = 600, Lunch = 700, Dinner
= 500
Day 3: 1600 Calories Total - Breakfast = 500, Lunch = 500, Dinner
= 600
Day 4: 1500 Calories Total - Breakfast = 400, Lunch = 400, Dinner
= 700
On the fifth day the person would go back to the way they ate for
day 1 and repeat the 4 day cycle. You should only repeat the
calorie shifting cycles for a maximum of 14 days in a row. You
need to give your body 3-4 days of rest after which you can
continue with another 14 day cycle.
There are also several online calorie counters and calculators
available for free that will show you how many calories are in
the foods that you eat which can help you to draw up your own
"calorie shifting" diet plan.
By following just these simple fat burning strategies you can
reasonably expect to lose around 1-3 pounds a week.

shifting, click here to visit: http://www.fatloss4idiats.com

loss diet.

A Layman's Guide to Managing Fear
A sure way to overcoming your fears and anxieties is in finding
the source of your fears and being able to manage it. In dealing
with any kinds of fears or anxieties, try to learn what is the
real source of your fears and anxieties. Knowing what is causing
your anxieties can go a long way in finding the solution.
A person can find the source of his or her own fears by doing
some self-evaluation and also by talking to a professional.
Asking yourself questions such as: "Why am I afraid" or "What
is causing my anxiety" will lead you in the right direction in
finding the source of your fears. Give it some time and
eventually you will find the answers your looking for.
Once you find the true source of your fears, the next step is to
find the solutions that will solve your problem. With the help of
a professional, write down a list of possible techniques and
solutions that you think will manage your fear and anxieties. The
next step is to apply the techniques that you uncovered. Here is
a brief list of some techniques you can use to help deal with
your fears.
A good way to manage your worry is to challenge your negative
thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When
encountering thoughts that make your fearful or anxious,
challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will
maintain objectivity and common sense.
Learn to take it one day at a time. Instead of worrying about how
you will get through the rest of the week or coming month, try to
focus on today. Each day can provide us with different
opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how
to deal with your problems. When the time comes, hopefully you
will have learned the skills to deal with your situation.
Sometimes we encounter a scary situation that gets us all upset.
When encountering these events, always remember to get all of the
facts of the given situation. Gathering the facts can prevent us
from relying on exaggerated and fearful assumptions. By focusing
on the facts, a person can rely on what is reality and what is
not.
In every anxiety-related situation you experience, begin to learn
what works, what doesn't work, and what you need to improve on
in managing your fears and anxieties. For instance, you have a
lot of anxiety and you decide to take a walk to help you feel
better. The next time you feel anxious you can remind yourself
that you got through it the last time by taking a walk. This will
give you the confidence to manage your anxiety the next time
around.
Many people try to get rid of their anxieties and fears without
taking into consideration why they are afraid. The best way to
get rid of your fears is to find those techniques that will
manage the true source of your fears. If you can do this, then
you should be able to overcome your fears and anxieties.

When a child is in the hospital adults often feel like there's
so little we can do to brighten their days and speed their
recovery. They miss the familiarity of their own room, their
Pokemon, Neopet, and Barbie toys, and the fresh air of the
outdoors. Well, we may not be able to bring their rooms to them,
but we can bring a little of the outdoors and some of their
favorite toys-along with some cheer-by sending a floral
arrangement with a great kid theme.
In a study conducted at Rutgers University, the State University
of New Jersey, flowers were proven to immediately boost the mood
of those who received them. While the research was carried out
using adults as the participants, surely children appreciate the
beauty of flowers as well (if they didn't, you wouldn't get so
many hand-picked bouquets of dandelions and other wildflowers!).
And, flowers are an excellent way to bring in a little of the
beauty of nature that the patient is sure to be missing.
To further boost the happiness a simple gift of flowers brings,
try mixing in some of the child's favorite toys and
interests-your florist will be glad to help you. Just give them a
call or stop by and talk about the purpose of the flowers and
what the child likes and dislikes. While your florist may not
have the toys on hand to add to the arrangement, he or she will
be happy to incorporate gifts you provide into a carefully and
beautifully designed arrangement.
To get you thinking about how to add some fun to your floral gift
and reduce the boredom involved in a hospital stay, here are a
few ideas:
* For the Pokemon Fan: Mount packs of Pokemon trading cards on
floral card sticks and tuck them in among the flowers. The child
will have fun "picking" the packages, opening them, and
discovering if they've gotten that rare card they've been
hoping to acquire. You could also place Pokemon figures or a
Pokemon video game in amongst the flowers.
* For the Barbie Fan: Bring in a Barbie doll and some doll
clothing. Ask your florist to include the doll in the
arrangement. The clothing can be safely mounted to sticks and
added to the arrangement. They can then be removed and used to
dress up Barbie. There are also a number of Barbie video games,
coloring books, and other toys to keep the patient busy. Your
florist can put together a gift box with the Barbie items on one
side and flowers in Barbie's signature color (pink) on the other
side.
* For the Neopets Fan: Like Pokemon, Neopets also have their own
trading cards, video games, and figures. Again, ask your florist
to incorporate the gifts into the arrangement or create a box
containing flowers on one side and gifts on the other.
These are just a few ideas using today's popular children's
toys, but they can be used with virtually any favorite toy or
interest. Florists love to bring cheer to people, and ill
children are certainly no exception. Ask your florist for help in
creating a gift that's sure to bring the patient some
fun-whether it's Pokemon, Barbie, or Neopets-and help speed the
child's recovery.

Acid Reflux Cause: WHY You Have Acid Reflux?
Copyright (c) 2008 Jeff Martin
Acid Reflux A to Z
http://www.acidrefluxatoz.com
The coincidence of a number of medical and lifestyle factors
leads to acid reflux disease making causes complex and rooted in
many factors. GERD - gastro-esophageal reflux disease, or acid
reflux is the product of physiological conditions such as the
sensitivity of the mucus of the esophagus to the refluxed stomach
content, the contra-flow of the food and acid content into the
esophagus and LES (lower esophageal sphincter) hypotonia, which
is the gradual weakening of the LES.
A mechanism exists at the junction of the esophagus and the
stomach that acts like a valve. This is the LES (lower esophageal
sphincter). When you swallow food it travels down your throat
where movements of the esophagus muscles then move it towards the
stomach. Closing the LES stops stomach acid from returning or
refluxing into the esophagus.
For healthy people, the LES will only open when food travels from
the esophagus into the stomach. The valve shuts again when the
food inside the stomach, to prevent stomach acid and content
coming back up. LES difficulty is the first factor that sets off
the disease of acid reflux. The pain and the burning sensation
called heartburn is caused when a weakened LES no longer succeeds
in closing as it should, opening the way for acid to move back up
your throat.
A weakness that is inherited, obesity and eating too much fatty
foods all contribute to preventing the LES from properly
shutting. As well as these factors, muscles also sag because of
the aging process undergone by humans, a tendency which affects
the LES as well.
As already seen, an LES that is already weakened has a direct
physiological link to the onset of acid reflux disease. The next
factor or set of factors resulting in GERD are due to behavior
and lifestyle. Different nutrition, drugs and interactions of the
nervous system can make the LES muscle lose its force and in turn
create gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Orange juice, lemons and
lemonade, grapefruit juice, tomatoes and their juice, fried
potatoes, sour cream, tea and coffee are nutritional elements
that may increase the risk of heartburn.
Several options exist for dealing with symptomatic acid reflux.
However the esophagus is not properly protected or treated by the
classic approaches and the use of these over the counter and
prescription drugs, including antacid, over a long period of time
can cause multiple side effects with varying degrees of risk. In
other words, the conventional frequently used approaches, based
on prescription and over the counter medication, only handle the
symptoms of chronic heartburn. They may not be good enough to
stop heartburn other than in the short term.
There are many alternatives to short-term superficial treatments
such as prescription medication. These include homeopathy, herbal
remedies and all encompassing all natural holistic therapies.
While dealing with the internal causes of acid reflux, these
natural remedies help your heartburn problem by treating the
causes rather than only attacking related symptoms that are
external.

Do Artificial Sweeteners in Diet Soda Cause Obesity?
Copyright (c) 2008 Mark Hyman, M.D.
The UltraWellness Blog
http://www.ultrawellness.com/blog
Ever watch a very large person order a Big Mac, large fries, and
top it off with a Diet Coke?
Ever notice that you rarely see thin people drinking diet sodas?
I have. And it made me wonder if could there be a link between
diet beverages or artificial sweeteners and obesity.
Research suggests that there is, indeed, a link.
First, our current obesity epidemic has coincided perfectly with
the introduction of large amounts of artificial sweeteners into
our food supply. While we don’t know that one has caused the
other, it is suspicious.
For example, the number of Americans who consume products that
contain sugar-free sweeteners grew from 70 million in 1987 to 160
million in 2000.
At the same time, the incidence of obesity in the United States
has doubled from 15 percent to 30 percent across all age groups,
ethnic groups, and social strata. And the number of overweight
Americans has increased from about 30 percent to over 65 percent
of the population. The fastest growing obese population is
children.
Next, we know that just the thought or smell of food triggers a
whole set of hormonal and physiologic responses that prepare the
body for food.
Just as in Pavlov’s dog experiment, where he trained dogs to
salivate in anticipation of food simply by ringing a bell, diet
sodas and artificial sweeteners act as the bell for your
physiology.
Your brain prepares for food even before your fork or cup crosses
your lips.
This allows you to anticipate and prepare for the arrival of
nutrients in your intestinal tract, improves the efficiency of
how your nutrients are absorbed, and minimizes the degree to
which food will disturb your natural hormonal balance and create
weight gain.
Any sweet taste will signal your body that calories are on the
way and trigger a whole set of hormonal and metabolic responses
to get ready for those calories.
When you trick your body and feed it non-nutritive or non-caloric
sweeteners, like aspartame, acesulfame, saccharin, sucralose, or
even natural sweeteners like stevia, it gets confused.
And research supports this.
An exciting new study in the Journal of Behavioral Neuroscience
has shown conclusively that using artificial sweeteners not only
does not prevent weight gain, but induces a whole set of
physiologic and hormonal responses that actually make you gain
weight.
The researchers proved this by giving two different groups of
rats some yogurt. One batch of yogurt was sweetened with sugar
and the other was sweetened with saccharin.
They found that three major things happened over a very short
period of time in the rats that were fed artificially sweetened
yogurt.
First, the researchers found that the total food eaten over 14
days dramatically increased in the artificial sweetener group --
meaning that the artificial sweetener stimulated their appetite
and made them eat more.
Second, these rats gained a lot more weight and their body fat
increased significantly.
And third (and this is very troubling) was the change in core
body temperature of the rats fed the artificial sweeteners. Their
core body temperature decreased, meaning their metabolism slowed
down.
So not only did the rats eat more, gain more weight, and have
more body fat, but they actually lowered their core body
temperature and slowed their metabolism.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: All calories are not
created equal.
The study’s most astounding finding was that even though the rats
that ate the saccharin-sweetened yogurt consumed fewer calories
overall than the rats that ate the sugar-sweetened yogurt, they
gained more weight and body fat.
This helps disprove the conventional view that people will
consume fewer calories by drinking artificially sweetened drinks
or eating artificially sweetened foods.
Despite their name, these are not “diet” drinks. They are
actually “weight gain” drinks!
My bottom line?
Avoid artificial sweeteners, including aspartame, acesulfame,
sucralose, sugar alcohols such as malitol and xylitol (pretty
much anything that ends in “ol”), as well as natural artificial
sweeteners like stevia.
Stop confusing your body. If you have a desire for something
sweet, have a little sugar, but stay away from “fake” foods.
Eating a whole-foods diet that has a low glycemic load and is
rich in phytonutrients and indulging in a few real sweet treats
once in a while is a better alternative than tricking your body
with artificial sweeteners -- which leads to wide scale metabolic
rebellion and obesity.
So, put that teaspoon of sugar in your tea and enjoy!

The TRUTH Behind Your Acid Reflux Disease
Copyright (c) 2008 Jeff Martin
Acid Reflux A to Z
http://www.acidrefluxatoz.com
Get the FACTS on How to Limit and Stop Acid Reflux Disease from
an Ex Acid Reflux Sufferer and Qualified Nutritionist.
Acid reflux disease, or GERD - gastro-esophageal reflux disease
as it is known, is caused by the coincidence of two medical
conditions. The first condition contributing to acid reflux
disease is the backward flow of food and acid from the stomach to
the esophagus. Nonetheless, the reflux does not always result in
symptoms of GERD or changes in the organic tissues, and can
happen in healthy individuals as well, when it is referred to as
"physiologic gastroesophageal reflux".
The second factor encouraging GERD is a malfunction of the LES,
the lower esophageal sphincter. The LES is a circle of muscle of
3-4 cm, some two to three times thicker than the proximal
esophagus and acting as a valve between the esophagus and the
stomach. When acid reflux disease occurs, the LES fails to close
correctly and stomach contents is pushed back into the esophagus.
With symptoms of the disease after this process, this is then
called gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
The typical sensation of acid reflux disease is persistent (twice
weekly or more) heartburn. Heartburn is the burning feeling in
the chest or the throat, when the stomach contents is pushed back
to the lining of the esophagus. As people in good health may also
have light reflux, occasional heartburn is common as well and
does not immediately mean gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
Other sufferers of GERD may also feel chest-pains or suffer from
coughs, hoarseness in the morning, vocal changes, problems in
swallowing (notably lumpy foods), lasting earache, burning pains
in the chest, nausea or sinusitis. Some sufferers describe
sensations of food being stuck, choking or tightness in the
throat. This is caused by the continual flow back of stomach
contents in contact with the esophagus, resulting in swelling of
the esophagus due scars from histological damage.
Acid reflux disease left untreated can have serious health
consequences. These include constriction, bleeding, ulcers and
spasms of the esophagus. When the acid from the stomach gets to
the trachea as well as the upper esophagus, several severe
conditions such as asthma, sinusitis and pneumonia can occur.
Some patients can develop a condition known as Barrett's
esophagus, where abnormal shapes and colors of cells occur in the
esophageal lining. This is an initial stage before esophageal
cancer, notably in adults over 60 years old.
There are three options for treating acid reflux disease:
surgery, medical therapy and holistic therapy that includes
changes in diet and lifestyle and taking specific herbal
supplements. Using surgery merits very careful consideration,
given that certain underlying conditions can be complicated, such
as constriction and muscular contraction disorders. PPIs and H2
blockers are among the options for medical intervention in cases
of gastro-esophageal reflux disease. While it is possible to
apply prescribed medications or acid blockers like these,
remember that the results are sometimes only temporary and that
conventional medicine can lead to serious side effects.
From an overall point of view, GERD is an alarm signal pertaining
to a significant imbalance internally that must be correctly
resolved. For this reason, alternative medicine such as
homeopathic remedies, herbal medicine, changes in lifestyle as
components of a full holistic plan are clearly recommended for
sufferers of acid reflux disease.

Pamela Anderson Can Make Her Plants Pet Safe

Actress Pamela Anderson is a well-known animal lover and
activist. Like many people, Ms. Anderson may struggle with
keeping houseplants safe from pets. In fact, cats are notorious
plant nibblers and soil diggers. But, with some careful plant
selection, placement, and creativity, you can keep your cat from
ruining your plants, and keep your cat safe from potentially
harmful plant varieties.
First and foremost, you'll want to make certain you're keeping
your pets safe from plants that are poisonous or that may cause
stomach or skin irritations. There are many common varieties of
plants that may make your cat sick, or may even cause death.
Among those common plants are dieffenbachia, philodendron, and
lilies. Some varieties of ivies and yews may also be harmful as
well as the bulbs of tulips, daffodils, and amaryllis. Some
people suggest testing your plants for toxicity by breaking open
the stem or leaf and rubbing some of the plant's juices on your
skin. Then, watch for reactions. If you develop a rash or other
irritation, the plant is probably not safe for your pet. While
this may work, the best advice is really to check with your
veterinarian. Your florist can also help you select pet-safe
plants.
If your cat likes to nibble on your plants, try providing him
with his own potted grasses to chew. You can purchase seed mixes
specifically combined for cat "salads." These are available
through most pet supply stores, and some florists and greenhouses
carry them, too. Encourage your cat to gnaw on those plants and
discourage him from touching yours. To keep him away from yours,
you can spray them with substances that won't harm the plant,
but that taste bad to your cat. These deterrent sprays include
bitter apple and other commercially available substances. You can
also squirt the cat with water from a spray bottle when he
approaches your plants.
If your cat is a digger, try placing a layer of decorative rock
on top of the soil in the pot. If the rocks alone don't work,
you can purchase weed fabric to place under the rock. There are
also less attractive methods to keep your cat from digging in the
pot, such as aluminum foil, waxed paper, or sticky strips that
are most often used to keep cats from scratching furniture.
However, since those methods will take away from the look of your
plant, I recommend first trying the rock and weed fabric.
Many people with cats love the touch of color houseplants bring
to a room, but may avoid owning them simply because of the hassle
involved in keeping the cat from destroying them or scattering
dirt everywhere. However, even pet lovers like Pamela Anderson
can keep plants-and pets-safe. Your florist may also have some
tried and true tips to keep your plants looking great despite
your pet's efforts.

Managing Your Fears, Anxieties, And Phobias Takes Practice

A Layman's Guide to Managing Fear
Like everything in life, managing your fears and anxieties takes
practice. The more you do it, the better you will become. Here
are a few reminders on how you can become better at dealing with
your fears, depression, and anxieties.
This will
give you the confidence to manage your anxiety the next time
around.
Challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and
realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your
fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself
questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. For
example, you are afraid that if you do not get that job promotion
then you will be stuck at your job forever.
Changing your thinking can
help you manage your fears.
Sometimes, we may be nervous doing a certain task that may be
scary. When this happens, visualize yourself doing the task in
your mind. For instance, you and your team have to play in the
championship hockey game in front of a large group of people in
the next few days. Before the big day comes, imagine yourself
playing the game in your mind. Imagine that your playing in front
of a large audience. By playing the game in your mind, you will
be better prepared to perform for real when the time comes.
Self-Visualization is a great way to reduce the fear and stress
of a coming situation.
When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a
lot of anxiety, divide the task into a series of smaller steps
and then complete each of the smaller tasks one at a time.
Completing these smaller tasks will make the stress more
manageable and increases your chances of success.
Remember that sometimes our worrying and fears can make the
problem even worse. Take things in stride and try not focus too
much on the problem. Patience, persistence, education, and being
committed in trying to solve your problem will go along way in
fixing your problems. In time, you will find the ways to overcome
your phobias.

The first thing to do in order to begin a body detox program is
to get rid of all the chemical based toiletries and household
products you have been using. So, it is time for all those
cleansers, shampoos and deodorants to go. Replace them with
nature based products instead. Also strictly abstain from the
temptations of alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes, unsaturated fat and
refined sugars.
Stress is another silent enemy. A temporary pumping up of
adrenaline is very good to meet that extra deadline, but regular
stress causes your liver to slow down the detoxifying process.
Before embarking on any body detox program it is best to know
which one is best for you. The duration of the program may vary
from 7 days to more than 2 weeks.
There are quite a few other popular and useful detox methods from
which to choose. Here are a couple of body detox plans and the
benefits they have to offer:
1) Body Detox Program #1: Cleaning supplement packages, which are
easily available in the market. They usually contain fiber,
vitamins and minerals, and are good for cleansing.
2) Body Detox Program #2: There was an ancient practice in many
cultures of following the regimen of drinking only water one day
of the week. Needless to say, it is extremely effective as a body
detox program.
It is, however, important to remember that after a detox program
is over, you have to follow it up with an overall healthy
lifestyle. Here are some post body detox program diets that you
should follow:-
a) Eat brown rice and organically grown fruits and veggies with
plenty of fibers. Also include cabbage, broccoli, radishes,
seaweed etc in your diet.
b) Drink green tea and eat dandelion roots, burdock and milk
thistle to cleanse your liver.
c) Remember to take plenty of Vitamin C to produce glutathione to
maintain your liver.
d) It is advisable to drink 2 quarts of water everyday and inhale
deeply to cleanse and regulate oxygen in your body. Also, think
positive thoughts. It helps reduce stress levels.
e) For Hydrotherapy, take a very hot shower for 5 minutes, and
follow it up with a cold shower for 30 seconds. Then, lie down
for 30 minutes, and you will be fresh and cleansed.
f) In order to remove toxins through your pores, you can dry
brush your skin or try detoxifying patches and foot baths.
Perspiring in a sauna to get rid of toxins through sweat is
another great idea.
g) Exercise regularly. Go for daily walks and practice yoga or
qigong.
A word of warning though; There may, however, be certain
side-effects to all this. Some of these include:-
* Bad breath * Headaches * Body odor * Fatigue * Skin rashes *
Mucous discharge * Abdominal gas and rumbling. * Cold feet and
hands * Joint pains * Sleeplessness
But remember that not everyone suffers like this. In my first
body detox program, I had terrible headaches and body pains for
the first two days. But I did not give up. And now, I am
extremely proud of myself.
After my first body detox program, which continued for 6 weeks, I
have continued living a healthy lifestyle. I exercise regularly,
and try to detox at least twice a year, you should too; it really
works!

Facing The Fear And Anxiety Of The Unknown

A Layman's Guide to Managing Fear
All most everybody worries about what will happen in the future.
The prospect of not knowing if something good or bad will happen
to you in the near future can produce a lot of fear and anxiety.
As a result, here is a list of techniques and suggestions on how
to manage this fear of dealing with the unknown.
Remember is that no one can predict the future with one hundred
percent certainty. Even if the thing that you feared does happen
there are circumstances and factors that you can't predict which
can be used to your advantage. For instance, let's say at your
place of work that you miss the deadline for a project you have
been working on for the last few months. Everything you feared is
coming true. Suddenly, your boss comes to your office and tells
you that the deadline is extended and that he forgot to tell you
the day before. This unknown factor changes everything. Remember:
we may be ninety-nine percent correct in predicting the future,
but all it takes is for that one percent to make a world of
difference.
Learn to take it one day at a time. Instead of worrying about how
you will get through the rest of the week or coming month, try to
focus on today. Each day can provide us with different
opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how
to deal with your problems. When the time comes, hopefully you
will have learned the skills to deal with your situation.
Sometimes, we can get anxious over a task that we will have to
perform in the near future. When this happens, visualize yourself
doing the task in your mind. For instance, you and your team have
to play in the championship volleyball game in front of a large
group of people in the next few days. Before the big day comes,
imagine yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that
you're playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game
in your mind, you will be better prepared to perform for real
when the time comes. Self-Visualization is a great way to reduce
the fear and stress of a coming situation and increase your
self-confidence.
Remember take a deep breath and try to find something to do to
get your mind off of you anxieties and stresses. A person could
take a walk, listen to some music, read the newspaper, watch TV,
play on the computer or do an activity that will give them a
fresh perspective on things. This will distract you from your
current worries.
A lot of times, our worrying can make the problem even worse. All
the worrying in the world will not change anything. All you can
do is to do your best each day, hope for the best, and when
something does happen, take it in stride. If you still have
trouble managing your anxiety of the future, then talking to a
counselor or clergyman can be of great help. There are ways to
help manage your fear and all it takes is some effort to find
those answers.
