Dear All....

Here's a little sharing on my latest observation, on a patient of mine with advance CA Lung whom i introduce Energy Psychology to, as a form of alternative treatment to manage her pain issue.

She is a young woman only in her early forties, who was diagnosed with CA Lung 4 months ago. I guess i have a lot of empathy for her after having known personally 4 people over the past 18 months having diagnosed with CA Lung, all being in their forties, non smokers and 3 out of 4 are females. Well..it really doesn't fit into the conventional risk factor group, i must say. Generally >90% of CA Lung are diagnosed late ie at 3rd or 4th stage..which unfotunately, most will have another 4-6 months life span.

As for most CA patient of terminal stage...it is the pain control that is offered as the paliative care. Morphine, being one of the most commonly used drug for this group of patients, is one of the best alternative to all the other painkillers that they may need in addition. This patient told me she still has unbearable pain, inspite of 4 hourly morphine plus another 2 other type of painkillers. She told me when she complaint of her persisting pain to her hospital doctors, inspite of the maximum dose of morphine they have prescribed to her...she was actually told to look for other type of alternative treatment to help relief her pain issue.

I decide to introduce EP to her with the hope that it will at least help her with the pain relieve and give her some physical comfort...being the least, that can be offered for palliative care. Having visited her the past few occasions at her home, she was always found to be lying down on her bed in her room...groaning in pain, discomfort and feeling giddy as well as nauseated and drowsy....probably from the side effects of morphine as well as chemotherapy. On the early evening of making an appointmentt with her for the first EP session, she made a great effort to be partially sitting up on the couch in the living room. She decribe her condition, nevertheless llike what it has always been, but a lot more giddy. After 20 mins of EP she felt the relieve in her pain as well as the giddiness.

The following day late afternoon, i paid her a visit and was surprised to see her sitting up comfortably in the livng room couch watching TV. She told me after the EP session last evening, she had a huge violent bout of vommiting. After that, she felt as if a big heavy rock has been lifted off her chest. She could eat her dinner and had a comfortable, painless undisturb peaceful sleep for once, after so many months. She didnt have to take any morphine since the whole of yesterday. I check on her again late this morning...she was also found sitting comfortably in her living room couch watching TV ! She says she also had a second night of good sleep yesterday and didn't take her morphine this morning. She was very appreciative for the simple yet effective session of EP...no side effects and she has already decided to send her teenage daughter for the training, which the daughter herself was amaze with the mother's improvement.
