Dear All...
WARMEST GREETINGS!
I would like to share another great learning experience and success story i had with EP on a patient of mine whom i perform it differently, due to language barrier.
Madam Joy came to see me 3 weeks ago complaining of severe left wrist pain since the past 5 days. She was pretty upset and felt severely retarded by this wrist pain. She does not recall any trauma to her wrist and the pain came quite suddenly in which she had great difficulty even trying to scrub herself during shower. She says, probably it was attributed by daily lifting a 10 gallon pail of specially brewed herbal water upstairs for her daughter to bathe, whom she is helping out in her daughter's confinement month after having just delivered a new born baby. She says it could also be because of too much of adjustment on her wrist when bathing the new born baby. From the whole conversation with her ( since i know her pretty well) i could see that she was very stressed out helping her daughter by being the "confinement nanny" and also taking care of her own family and other children..... plus the
fact that it was also during the same Chinnese New Year season where there are lots of other preparations to take care as well for the rest of the family members.
After a short chat listening to her....i introduce EP to her... I ask her if she could accept the concept of EP treatment?...which, Her husband who was with her, says he does not but Madam Joy says she don't mind trying anything that can help her to recover fastest. This was a case of language barrier because we converse in cantonese and i was not prepared to use cantonese in my EP application as i was not familiar with it. I then told her to tune into her problem, thinking about the wrist pain and all the things that cross her mind that she thinks is the cause of it. I started by asking her to scale the pain intensity level, but she could not comprehend with me to give me her scale. Anyway..i told her its OK and i started tapping for her using all her words of thoughts as she has describe above, in English, without her repeating after me, but just by tuning herself deep into the thoughts of her wrist
problem.
Upon completing the first round of tapping, she says there's improvement in the wrist pain compared to before. I then continued with the second round of tapping, which after that she says there is less pain and she is able to move the wrist more, but still it is not completely relieved. Anyway...i told her i will give her some medication, since that was her expectation for consulting me, a medical doctor.... and also her main concern was that she must have immediate relief and recover soonest because she still needs to help her daughter to complete her confinement month, taking care of the cooking, babysitting etc.
Yesterday, after 3 weeks, she came back to my clinic accompanying her husband for consultation. I ask her how was her wrist recovering? She told me, much to her surprise she only took one dose of my medication that evening she went back home and the next morning her wrist was completely painless and totally no restriction of movement. Since she didn't quite believe it, she says she purposely carried another 2 pails of water and did a few heavy chores,... just to test if the pain would return...but it DIDN'T till today!... and she was able to do all her chores as before.GREAT!
I would share,... the point here is, the method how i executed EP (don't know if this is considered a form of surrogate tapping) in a languange barrier situation.... where it shows that EP also has its effect, eventhough the client/patient does not know the language to repeat after the practitioner. I guess the most important point is, the client/ patient has to be tune into the issue at that moment of time when EP is done, eventhough the client/patient don't need to speak the words. With this experience...i believe, this will prove to be as effective, when we apply it to young children, whom may yet to have the level of vocabulary understanding to follow what we say in the conversation...or even to the very old folks whom we could be having communication breakdown with, due to senilelity or presbyacusis (old age hearing lost).
Warmest Regards
Dr.Wong
