Hello !
Since Nutrition Health are interrelated, I would like to discuss more
about the GI TRACT --- that part of our body system that transforms all
the food and chemicals we eat into enzymes and vitamins/mineral
compounds plus glucose so our body will survive and eliminate those
chemicals we really doesn't need.
The Gastrointestinal (GI) Tract is critical to life and health, because
it regulates the ingestion, digestion and absorption of nutrients. It
also is responsible for storing and eliminating waste products. Normal
funstion of the gastrointestinal tratc depends on a number of
interrelated physiologic processes such as hormone production, enzyme
secretion, carrier-mediated absorption, peristalsis and voluntary
control of defecation.
In my next e-mail, we will first discuss the anatomy of the GIT which
are commonly divided into:
1. Alimentary Canal- mouth, esophagus, stomach, small large
intestine
2. Accessory Organs- liver, pancreas , gallbladder
Till Next e-mail....
