| I agree with Zurama that pushing him to talk is the better way to go than making it easier for him not to talk. My son didn't talk until he was six years old and I refused to use sign language or a communication device. He used the PECS system which is more work than talking or using sign language, which is why once he was able to talk and read the PECs sentance strip to me, he loved the freedom of it and was more motivated to talk. He is eight now and doesn't use PECs anymore. His language grows everyday so I am glad I stuck to my guns and did not give in to the Speech teachers. You should look into Music therapy as well since it did wonders for my son. Music is processed in a different location of the brain than speech so it can make a huge difference. Make sure though that you have a licensed Music therapist and not
