Dear Pre-health Students:

Circle of Care is holding an Informational Volunteer Open House on
Thursday, September 4th, from 5:30-7:00pm.

Circle of Care is a program of the East Bay Agency for Children that
assists children and families coping with a life-threatening illness,
loss, bereavement, or trauma through support groups, crisis
intervention services, and home-based counseling and support services.
It is one of very few programs in the country devoted exclusively to
the needs of children and their families who face these overwhelming
family crises.

Volunteers work as Support Group Facilitators in their groups for
families facing illness and
loss. The role of facilitators is to help the group participants
process their experiences. Facilitators work together to create
activities that will give children and teens the opportunity to talk
about feelings and life experiences. Facilitators are needed to work
in groups specifically for adults, teens, children and toddlers.
Volunteers work as a team, creating an atmosphere where families feel
safe to talk about feelings of anger, fear, frustration and sadness.

From Highway 580 – coming from the south (Hayward): Exit at
Coolidge/Fruitvale Avenue. Merge onto Montana St. Quick Right onto
Coolidge Ave. Take Coolidge up hill. Coolidge Ave turns into
Charleston St. Our offices are located at the end of Charleston
Street.

From Highway 580 – coming from the north (Berkeley): Exit at Fruitvale
and turn left at the light at the bottom of the exit ramp. Turn right
onto MacArthur Blvd. and a quick left on Lincoln Avenue. Go thru two
stop signs. After the second stop sign, turn right onto Alida. (If
you pass the Mormon Temple, you have gone too far). Go down a hill and
bear left at Laguna – going up a hill. Continue up hill and bear left
again at Charleston Street at the top of the hill. Our offices are
located at the end of Charleston Street.

From Highway 13: Take Joaquin Miller/Lincoln Avenue exit off Hwy 13
and head west towards the Bay. At stop sign, merge onto Monterey
Blvd. Turn right at Lincoln Ave. Turn left onto Alida street. Go
down a hill and bear left at Laguna – going up a hill. Continue up
hill and bear left again at Charleston Street at the top of the hill.
