Position: Community Health Worker
-Reports to Health Educator
-Contracted per diem basis, hourly wage DOE
Summary of Position
The Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC) provides free breast and cervical cancer screening to low-income and underinsured/uninsured women in California. The California Health Collaborative is the contractor for the CDP:EWC program in four Regions in California, including the Bay Area.
The Community Health worker will work on a per diem basis for California Health Collaborative under the supervision of the Bay Area Health Educator.
The Community Health Worker will recruit and educate Bay Area women from her community about breast and cervical cancer either in classes/workshops or at health fairs.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid drivers license, insurance coverage, and transportation and be willing to travel within the six counties of the Bay Area.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- AA, BA, BS or Community Health Worker certification preferred.
- Must be bilingual in English and one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Cantonese, Russian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and/or Tagalog.
- Must reside in and share experience, languages and/or culture of the community to be served.
- Must be outgoing, assertive and passionate about women's health.
- Must have 1-2 years experience in community health, health services and/or equivalent education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Conduct CDP:EWC tailored health education under supervision of and at the request of a CDP:EWC Health Educator.
- Conduct CDP:EWC follow-up communication under supervision of and at the request of a CDP:EWC Health Educator.
- Facilitate the location and promotion of CDP:EWC tailored health education classes on behalf of a CDP:EWC Health Educator.
