We invite you and your students to participate in our 7th Annual
Pre-Health Conference. The theme of this year's conference is
"Healthcare: Serving Your Community." For most, the admissions process
can be arduous and often times discouraging. We understand that those
applying constitute a diverse group and therefore have diverse needs.
Our conference planning committee wants to provide specific and accurate
information about the admissions process having members of various
admissions committees taking part in an interactive panel. Our goal over
the past six years has been to assist students that come from
disadvantaged backgrounds in successfully preparing for careers in
health careers. In our experience, the majority of students that have
attended are from groups that are underrepresented in medicine,
Chicano/Latino, African American and Native American descent, which have
shown an interest in serving the underserved communities in healthcare.
The UC Irvine School of Medicine LMSA-CCM/SNMA/AMSA conference offers
workshops and personal interaction with healthcare professionals,
medical students, faculty, and staff. Participants learn about health
professional school admissions requirements, features of a competitive
applicant, proper interviewing etiquette, and financing a health
profession education, among other things.

Last year we had over 400 students attending our conference and have
just recently added a high school component to the forum. We are
expecting an even larger turnout this year. It is vital that these
students have the opportunity to interact directly with medical, dental,
optometry, nursing & pharmacy school representatives. ALL ARE WELCOME!!
Please feel free to pass this email along to your students.

Warmest Regards,

Marco Angulo
