Hi all,
I'll be going to this next Tuesday and wanted to see if anyone
wanted to join me. Should be interesting -- the latest in current
and future HIV research. And it's free!

Symposium Focus
This two-day symposium will focus on current and planned research
being conducted by the next generation of HIV investigators with the
University of California, San Francisco, the Gladstone Institute of
Virology and Immunology, as well as Blood Systems Research
Institute, SF Department of Public Health (HIV Research Section),
and other partner institutes. This year's program is designed to
introduce those scientists who CFAR believes will help direct and
inform the HIV/AIDS research agenda in the 21st Century. Research
presentations will span basic, clinical, epidemiologic, prevention,
and translational science. The event also seeks to foster and
facilitate multidisciplinary research collaborations by providing a
forum for investigators from around the world to interact with their
bay area-based peers.
Program Agenda
Presentations will be organized around HIV-relevant research in five
scientific areas:
Basic Science (Immunology and Virology)
Clinical Science
International
Epidemiologic
Research Operations
The list of speakers and topics for the Tuesday and Wedneday
programs will be posted on Monday. Program Abstracts will be
available mid-January.

Registration
Registration is now open for the Ninth Annual CFAR Research
Symposium. To further the Center's educational mission and to
encourage wider participation from students, faculty and community
members in the Bay Area, the registration fee for this event is
waived. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged due to the limited
capacity of the Arguello Room (Presidio Officers' Club).

Transportation and Parking
The Presidio Officers' Club, reported to be the oldest structure in
San Francisco (1776), can be reached via the public transportation
or personal vehicle. Limited, non-permit parking is available on the
parade ground in front of the buidling, as well at various satellite
lots. CFAR Symposia attendees are strongly encouraged to use public
transit or seek parking in satellite lots near the club and take the
Presidio's shuttle service, PresidiGO. Registrants arriving from
other locations in the Bay Area can map out a transit itinerary at
511.org(, the regional transit coordinator service. Please note,
currently only two MUNI transit lines (43-Masonic and 28-19th
Street), directly serve transit stops in the Presidio. The 43
provides shuttle connections at Transit Station #1, directly inside
the Presidio's Lombard Gate. The 28 stops at Transit Stations at
Crissie Field (#3) and the Southern access area to the Golden Gate
Bridge (#5).
