Clinical Study Coordinator for Psychiatric Disorder Studies at New York University/Bellevue Hospital and the Nathan Kline Institute.
Background:
Our research is designed to discover new diagnostic and predictive tests for psychiatric and neurological disorders. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person for this clinically oriented position, who will be involved in the recruitment of patients and healthy controls into studies, chart collection and upkeep, and blood sample processing, for NIH-funded research projects. This position would be especially suited to applicants with experience in clinical studies of psychiatric disorders.
Duties:
The Clinical Study Coordinator will work on research studies based at Bellevue Hospital/New York University School of Medicine, New York City. Duties will include chart screening for subject recruitment, performing informed consent interviews and diagnostic interviews, maintaining and updating subject files and computer records, patient chart review, liaising with physicians, nursing staff and phlebotomists and processing blood samples from recruited subjects. The Study Coordinator will perform initial blood processing, and cataloging of collected subject samples and fasting blood draws will be performed, so the position requires approximately 7.30am starts.
Qualifications:
At least a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject.
Experience:
Experience working in a clinical environment, with familiarity in human subject research including knowledge of IRB protocols and informed consent interviews is preferred.
SCID diagnosis experience and experience performing other psychiatric evaluation tests is also preferred, however training can be provided.
Skills:
This position involves close interactions with Medical and Nursing staff. The subjects being recruited for these studies include patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other neuropsychiatric disorders, and also healthy members of the public. The successful applicant is therefore required to possess good interpersonal skills. We are also particularly interested in candidates who are highly organized with good time management skills, as the successful applicant will be involved in multiple studies, performing multiple tasks.
