Tired, but Blood Tests Normal?

Something of interest I just thought about. For the other symptoms of Chronic Fatigue that often goes with this anemia, they say it isn't easy to find. Tests keep coming back normal. Many times you hear this on Mystery Diagnosis TV program/s

If someone only has one thing wrong (& a parent didn't have CFIDS type symptoms)

Then - a test on something will go UP for one ailment

and then DOWN for the other ailment

... Two things wrong, but tests look normal

They say random distribution of weight RDW is a sign of hemolytic anemia when it is elevated (& other things) ... but it is lower when there is rheumatoid arthritis ... So a person who had both ailments wouldn't look like there was a problem with either, per this test at least

Another fatigue sign that I found very interesting is that a very elevated white blood cell count may be a fatigue sign. Sometimes it indicates an infection; sometimes it is indicative of lymphoma ... but that it would be a fatigue sign blew me away! (Red blood cells in Autoimmun Hemolytic Anemia are made in the bone marrow as are the white blood cells. Although the info I read said that it had nothing to do with the AIHA per se, the production of WBCs were stimulated as they are made in the bone marrow also.

There is a horrible type of headache

... that goes with the Chronic Fatigue Immune Disfunction Syndrome pattern of symptoms.

(CFIDS or CFS, FM for short)

My friend began having more severe headaches after a flu went through her town.

For her it was just one exposure too much.  She needs a miracle and I think it is the anemia that is the most harmful

http://www.valdezlink.com/re/myfriendnorm.htm

I have heard of headaches stopping when people have hormonal change like going into menopause ... or around puberty ... or altering one's hormones

I think it is an autoimmune issue that 2-butoxyethanol exposure would cause.

EGBE Causes

CFIDS Pattern

Do you also have FATIGUE?

Doctors do not know what the fatigue of CFS, FM, CFIDS is

If caused by 2-butoxyethanol

aka Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether it is AIHA or IMHA

A chemical to avoid & what to consider for help

If a parent is exposed they would have THE FATIGUE,

and odd assortment of symptoms ...

and depending upon how severely exposed ...

Afftect the children with developmental delays,

autoimmune metabolic issues, headaches possible, too

Hunter Tylo kids' health

There is a teratogen chemical that can affect children of those who are strongly exposed to it (& the proof is the red blood cell fatigue it causes)

I noticed that Michael Tylo was born in 1948 (a baby boomer) Did he have a parent in the WWII or in manufacturing? &/or

Did he himself serve in the Vietnam or Korean war/s?

I notice that he is also the father of Hunter Tylo's daughters and son Mickey

I strongly suspect that he or a parent could have been affected by the Ethylene Glycol monoButyl Ether chemical, and if so, he would have the CFIDS symptoms with FATIGUE that is often overlooked

It would therefor be an explanation for their son's & daughter's health issues. Nervous system autoimmune issues and even cancers of most kinds: blood and blood forming organs, liver and kidneys are what it targets. Thankfully not everyone gets everything it does; however, there is a recognizable pattern, especially short term memory loss and extreme irritability (Many of these people end up divorced)

A chemical everyone could be exposed to .... & which should be avoided: 2-butoxyethanol (modern name since 1930's)

Someone strongly exposed would notice these things

idiopathic anemia (CFIDS' fatigue) can go with diabetes

Recall a serious FLU? or sniffles with farting and diarrhea?

FIND the hard to find anemia of CFS,CFIDS, FM, ME

CFIDS - This must be THE fatigue!

Many times those with this fatigue collapse from lack of blood ... or the advance fatigue of EGBE ... not a heart attack Just because the death certificate says the cause of death was a 'heart attack' does not mean that is the case.

It is admitted by the chemical companies that 2-butoxyethanol has been in widespread use since the 1930's.  I also suspect this chemical exposure and worse for the death of Pres FDR in 1945 ...

CFIDS? ... This must be THE fatigue

Civilians with CFS, FM, CFIDS? ... WWII soldiers? Vietnam Soldiers? Korean Conflict Soldiers? 'Gulf War Syndrome' vets ? ... EVOS workers

I was looking through this info on the FATIGUE I suspect EVOS workers have ... the fatigue doctors don't usually find... and one side effect of Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia is very high white blood cell count. One worker said that he had that, and the doctors were stumped as to what it meant. Have your doctor/s find out everything they can about the red blood cells and any autoimmune issues, (especially AUTOIMMUNE METABOLIC issues), tumors, etc

Any
autoimmune issue is also possible ...
One person with diagnosis of low red blood cell anema also has a lowering platelet count. There is such a thing as an autoimmune action against platelets.

Quote:
ITP is the destruction of "thrombocytes" (clotting cells) by the immune system in much the same manner as RBCs are destroyed in AIHA

Another shares that his blood is 'globbing' together ... another sign of AIHA

I think this is
the fatigue those with CFIDS ... must have

It is the fatigue doctors are looking for in CFS, FM,
Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome

It is the fatigue that exposure to 2-butoxyethanol would have

and headaches, pains here 'n there' are autoimmune issues that pile on

Those with CFIDS should fill in
the checklist ... for 'the pattern'
if you have it, ... share with your doctor/s

and
what is your body temp? blood pressure? blood sugar?
high or low blood pressure, high or low blood sugar and high or low body temp

'Part of what 2-butoxyethanol does'

Interesting to note that some AIHA is with a raised temp -

Some with subnormal body temp

Check these basics

& Kidneys ... can they be interrelated?

Progesterone/Estrogen  post on Lef.org forum

When I was well into menopause over 10 years ago, I thought I should take this type of thing and asked the doctor to let me have the hormone patch instead of taking the tablets.  No problem.  Well it was a big problem, because I started bleeding a lot, when I had had no periods for about 2 years. (Testing to see whether or not I was in menopause was a waste of time & money.)

I reported this to the gynacologist I was seeing (300 miles from where I live) and he said he didn't know too much about the patch ... just keep on doing it for awhile longer.  Nuts to that, I used my own head and stopped taking the patch, or doing anything at all.

Well next time for my visit (I used to go every 2 years - now I don't go at all), one of the fibroid tumors had enlarged and had to be surgically removed.  I firmly believe that had I not taken the hormones in 'the patch' this would not have happened.

Anyway, I want to share about a young woman age 36 who has fibroid tumors; one is seriously enlarged and she is bleeding a lot.  Her doctor wants to do a hysterectomy, but her blood counts are not good enough, they are aiming at Sept now.  In her case (I know the family history) & in mine I suspect that we both have effects from the teratogen chemical, 2-butoxyethanol, prior to our conception that would cause fibroid tumors in the first place.

So, could it be that something is off in her hormones, and that the enlarged tumor should be removed, but not necessarily a hysterectomy?

Another thing that came to mind ... is there something else causing a drop in blood counts beside the obvious?  Of course, they suspect that it is from excessive bleeding during periods, or this tumor in particular; however, a concern I have is that blood counts can also be down from the FATIGUE of CFIDS which should be suspect (autoimmune action on the red blood cells)  Doctors would find it if they were to LOOK at the red blood cells:  AIHA or IMHA.

If ongoing exposure to this chemical is part of the picture (& it could be because she is a dental assistant, and second hand exposure is very possible in a small exam room & having a patient who could be poisoned ... breathing out this chemical for all that time).

.... then check the kidneys which send a hormone to the bone marrow.  Kidneys play a role in forming red blood cells and making strong bones.  2-butoxyethanol targets the kidneys and liver and blood forming organs in particular.

a drug to stop nausea? be careful

In the news release today on Elizabeth Edwards (John Edwards' wife) there was a comment that the folks taking chemo today have a strong new drug to counteract the nausea available to them now.

Well, from my point of view that is not so great. My daughter had a baby 7 months ago and the worst part of it was the drugs for child-birthing that she received. I let her friends gather 'round so didn't get in on the first of it .... but I did observe a vibrant, healthy young woman start into child birthing ... turn into a very sick girl from the drugs she got. She was being given a shot to counteract the nausea. "Don't worry," the doctor said, "It will be out of your system in 5 hours"

But what damage in the meantime? She ended up with horrible memory loss, headaches, severe hormonal ups and downs to grouchiness and FATIGUE more than just loss of sleep. Another very healthy young woman shared she had 'the sweats,' a fever, horrible headaches, etc after her childbirthing experience, about the same time; same hospital.

I think even 'heart beat issues' could be part of it. ...more than drinking coffee, in one instance (She is dealing with this, too)

I think it is multiple autoimmune issues, especially autoimmune hypothalamus which controls the master gland of our whole body

http://www.valdezlink.com/pages/aut...ypothalamus.htm

To anyone else, this would not signal a 'pattern' To me, it does.

So, I would like to look at what happened to her as far as what she was given, and how her blood changed. Because I'm wondering if there is any butyl &/or ethanol in the meds she was given.

At any rate I think meds our women get in childbirth may be the cause of HELLP Syndrome that is oddly enough ONLY found in this population. Exploring it here http://groups.msn.com/newmoms

I did walk over to her and say, "Just let the nausea wear off, it is a sign that you have too many chemicals in your system"

So, it is my opinion that if Elizabeth Edwards is given that type of chemical to help with nausea after her life-long low grade chemotherapy that she will be taking ... it won't be long until another cancer shows up besides what she's dealing with already. AND not because she had breast or bone cancer first.

What we can learn from Hank Willimas, Sr

I found more on Hank WilliamsDoes anyone know what health issues his older sister, Irene, may have had?  Hank Williams was afflicted with spina bifida at birth, one of the birth defects from the teratogen chemical, 2-butoxyethanol.  It was refined & highly used from the 1930s on.  Widely in use today.  I think it is the cause of CFIDS & the fatigue doctors are looking for is the proof of its harm.  prove FATIGUE  & LOOK at the red blood cells.

Before that something similar, but a stronger version is my theory.  Many soldiers harmed from all war periods (& non war periods) during the past century.  His dad had brain aneurysm, facial paralysis ... & died in a VA hospital after lanquishing for years.  He was a WWI vet.

Look at how are VETS with health damage are ALIKE & you will be on to something.

Lung cancer  & other health issues put forward by the Vietnam vets ...

2-butoxyethanol does them all ... the VA only selected a very few & then blamed the wrong chemical for it.

Thank you to Dan Martin for what he is doing to help Korean Vets.  I think most vets get a raw deal, especially Korean, Gulf war, WWII & WWI vets, well Vietnam vets, too because they only get less than 10% of the presumptive disability approvals (they are blaming the wrong chemical) ... it is the other chemical in the mix.  How do these look the same?

It is not diabetes that causes so much harm, as is universally believed today, it is the chemical that causes diabetes, etc, etc

For your info Hank did have severe pain issues he broke his back in a car wreck pior to getting well known his booze issues are pure history. A little know fact Chariley Pride and Hank Jr are 1/2 brothers. When I was a Sn in HS I took mom to see Charlie Pride and she only heard him on the radio it was teriffic she was shocked when he walked out on stage. Worth the trip just to see momsface. Hank was also there and intro C P has his half brother. Being an OK farm boy I was raised on Hank and he was a demi God.
Still love his music though I dont listen to much modern country if you can call it that.
One war we hear very little about last July at state convention I ran into an old man who talked me into signing on helping Korean War Vets. Isnt that much most of them have all their benifits he was just afraid of loosing his office so I agreed. Aside from
frost bite issues we all know about little has ever been said conserning issues and problem they are having. My great grand dad when I was little talked about the mustard gas used during WW1. There were millions contaminated from that war not even talking about the land that was posioned.
I just got a packet on a guy who came down with pancreatic cancer him and his Dr are trying to say caused by Diabetes. He didnt serve in Vietnam so it will be a hard win but I have time. But question still remains.

The debate over whether or not there is a 'gulf war syndrome' is a very old debate.

Too many times our service men and women have to prove their medical disabilities ... and too many times the Presumptive List is way too short.

I have concern for a new mom in our town who is having horrible headaches, sweats, fever.  With all the new company ... I suspect this chemical ... the one that has been plaguing our Nation for more than 75 years

Yes, the below are the 'gulf war syndrome' symptoms I recognized ... that started me to check out 'the gulf war vets' syndrome'

Over 150,000 veterans have put thier names in the American Legion's
database according to spokesmen for the organization.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of Gulf War Illnesses (according to the American Legion)

* Chronic Fatigue
* Signs and symptoms involving skin (including skin rashes and
unusual hair loss)
* Headache
* Muscle pain
* Neurologic signs or symptoms (nervous system disorders which
could manifest themselves in numbness in one's arm, for instance)
* Neuropsychological signs or symptoms (including memory loss)
* Signs or symptoms involving upper or lower respiratory system
* Sleep disturbances
* Gastrointestinal signs or symptoms (including recurrent diarrhea
and constipation)
* Cardiovascular signs or symptoms
* Menstrual disorders

And how can the Govt give treatment?  when they don't even know what causes this??

They can't

Most of the time doctors give to the chemically poisoned ... more chemicals (medications) which will harm anyone who is chemically overexposed ... harm them more. (my opinion)

I just e-mailed the Commissioner for Public Safety (troopers) in Alaska

A Public Service Announcement

I've posted it on a WWII Vets' and their children (Baby Boombers like me)  If you know what happened to any of these, please share

and of course they don't want to hear anything from me about chemicals

(Dad works around chemicals now, as they have an auto glass business in the garage) and baby is opening his eyes more now (Don't breath these vapors in baby's eyes)

And dad is a gulf war vet.

With both children being born 3-5 weeks early ... that is a slight clue to me that there is some of the 2-butoxyethanol chemical in the family line (actually on BOTH sides) ... but not a strong case of it .... AND first baby has a hemangioma on her forehead (benign blood tumors)

My daughter could take glyconutrients as baby is breast feeding, but she doesn't believe they are necessary ... & they believe what the doctor tells them.

I know baby had a shot for hepatitus B (or some such thing) prior to leaving the hospital at birth.  They had to sign an OK for it.  I thought at the time that they should at least wait until baby is the normal birth time ... like 3 weeks from now ... and also see whether or not baby has autoimmune issues to deal with.  In such cases vaccinations can be more harmful than helpful

Please pray

Maybe a type of birth defect such as autoimmune metabolic issues

Time to 'think outside the box' ... this example  +  help

What could be going on?  My twins were never thin. a strange thing happened at 4 years of age when they really ballooned up and became obese and i have no idea why that happened. one of my girls has recently obtained a normal weight but the other is still quite overweight and feeling oh so depressed about it

Is there any chronic fatigue syndrome issues in a parent or grandparent?

There is an autoimmune metabolic weight issue that might be the cause, if so

Maybe it's not your fault ?

Endocrine disruption such as diabetes    and syndrome X  (with belly fat & lipid profile becoming worse)  ... may all be part of what you're dealing with

There is a danger that when one feels desperate, you can take diet stuff that will harm you.  Consider glyconutrient food supplements!

What I'm learning about glyconutrients on a discussion forum + Links

If you want to add anything, you are most welcome

An intro for doctors - by a doctor :

Supplying Glyconutritionals in the diet has enabled the body to modulate the immune system: elevate those elements that are too low, as in Cancer and AIDS; reduce those that are too high, as in autoimmune diseases; or do both, as in most of the immune dysfunctions!! This Modulation had been considered impossible-something never before seen in Medicine

and I know those who are TIRED of being TIRED ... with the CFS, FM, CFIDS pattern of symptoms ... won't find the fatigue with the blood tests that will be done, even though there is something for anemia (in the extreme cases, maybe, but not for most people)

... for Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome doctors say they do not know what the fatigue is.  I believe I've stumbled onto what the fatigue isautoimmune hemolytic anemia, but doctors are not alerted by the regular blood tests to check for it.  I think they have to look at the same info just a little differently, and LOOK at the red blood cells:  size, shape, membranes, age?  and is there blood in urine?  (or later, is there an abnormal peripheral blood test?)

The chemical I suspect for THIS fatigue can cause birth defects:  the teratogen chemical, 2-butoxyethanol.  If it is a birth defect, then you would not necessarily have the fatigue yourself, but most likely the mom would, or her parents.

I shared this with our city this week ... & hope that you will share it with any doctors interested.  There are workers, US Coast Guard, & US Navy stationed in Valdez in 1989  who could prove the harm of this chemical.  Along with the 'bioremediation' workers & those who were on the Corexit trials.  It is also the only chemical exposure that these have in common with the 'gulf war syndrome' vets (after oil)

This chemical and complex versions of it is easy to be exposed to, even today, It is prevalent in many household cleaning products, paint, & solvents that carpenters & mechanics use. AVOID this chemical, especially if you have already been exposed to it.

A synonymn for what 2-butoxyethanol does is hemoglobinuria ... and that indicates harm to X-chromosome possible, or part of the picture.  I suspect it is the root cause of harm for many autoimmune metabolic issues:  diabetes, Autism, leukodystrophies, etc, etc

If you are concerned about this, ask your doctor about focusing on good nutrition and glyconutrient food supplements  More info  Those who specialize in chemical exposures will tell you that adding other chemicals to your chemical 'load' can be very detrimental.  So, be sure even the medications you are offered are proven, and not just to help you cope.  You are dealing with an autoimmune immune system with this chemical ... at least from the study I've done, that appears to be the root problem:  your immune system is attacking you.

And remember, God is in the healing business ... so find a church who prays ... and ask them to pray for you.

 Jennifer on November 29, 1999:

I am a mother of a very beautiful (now 7 year old) post gulf war baby girl.  Actually she has been exceptionally healthy as far as normal child hood sickness go.

A little History, Her father, Johnnie was in the Army station in Germany before the War. When the conflict broke out, his company was one of the first to go. He was there through Desert shield and Desert Storm. I thanked God when he came home safe.

I became pregnant when Johnnie returned from the Gulf War (91). I didn't know about all of the problems that people were having (veterans and families) until several months later. We already had one child, Matthew age 5 at the time. He stayed with us in Maryland about a month and a half when he got back from the Persian Gulf, before he had to report to Washington State. Shortly after he left I found out I was expecting again. We were going to move out to Washington State after the first of the year, but Johnnie got sick. Little did I know then how that sickness would effect my child.

I also started to have similar symptoms, as Johnnie had, several months after I found out I was pregnant. (Aching joints & muscles, exhaustion, +++more etc..) The doctors & I just put it off to being pregnant. I already had three children. Things just didn't seem right. I don't believe in abortion so I put my trust in God. This may sound strange, but after I started feeling bad, I decided to fight for my unborn child and myself. I religiously ate healthy and I made sure I got plenty of exercise while I was pregnant. The more exercise the more the blood flows through you and the baby. Plenty of oxygen! Didn't drink, didn¡¦t smoke. These are just common sense things that you should do anyway. I even joined Jazzercise. I did this until the eighth month (cause I started feeling discomfort). I had an exceptionally easy birth

Johnnie has all the typical symptoms of GWS. He was getting worse with each passing day, as he is now. He had many problems with joint pain and had many surgeries as a result. Eventually these joint problems resulted of him not being able to do his job properly with out extreme pain.  so he ended up leaving the service in '96 with a medical discharge, 20% disability. At the time he left the service the Government was still in denial that such a problem even existed. He is now at 50% disability, but still no help for Jessica.

Johnnie and I are convinced that this sickness is not only hereditary, but also contagious. I am also along with the rest of my family suffering with these conditions although it does seem predominant in Jessica. What I have also noticed is that when Johnnie comes to visit or after a visit, the symptoms seem to worsen.

Since the first of this year, I've noticed a severe decline in Jessica's health. All of the symptoms that she has always had have been getting drastically worse. She is having problems with inattention in school. So I had her tested for learning disabilities. Her IQ is 130, but she does have a learning disability in Reading. They can't really put their finger on the exact disability, although they are not disregarding the fact that she is having considerable trouble learning to read.

It is very difficult for the doctors in this area to treat for Gulf War Syndrome because of lack of education in this illness. Since Johnnie is no longer in the service, I feel that I am unable to get the proper help for Jessica. The pediatrician is believes now that Jessica has GWS, but he admits he does not know what to do for her. I believe this is an important step for us.

On a good note, I wouldn't trade Jessica for the world. Jessica just got the chicken pox a few months ago. I honestly can say that this is the first time that she has really been sick (with a normal child hood sickness). She usually gets sick with weird stuff like: She often gets a strange high fever (103-104F) for no apparent reason and she COMPLAINS A LOT at night of aching bones and muscles (not Growing Pains).

When Johnnie started to get really sick, (when Jessica was a toddler) he told me to look for GWI symptoms in Jessica. She had them all. NOW WHAT? She complains a lot of tummy aches, headaches, loud noises bother her immensely, lack of appetite, problems with BM's, complains of genitals burning/tender or soreness, gums becoming red and swollen, joint pain, sinus problems etc...etc....

Please note:
During the Gulf War, over 1,000,000 veterans served in the Persian Gulf. Since their return, thousands of these men and women have reported a pattern of health problems called Gulf War Syndrome:
Symptoms include:
„h Fatigue
„h Skin rashes/sores/dryness
„h Inattention or Memory loss
„h Joint pain
„h Headaches
„h Personality changes
„h Stomach problems (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and pain)
„h Muscle pain, weakness, and spasms
„h Visual problems
„h Shortness of breath
„h Sleep disturbance
„h Hair loss
„h Numbness (of hands, fingers, feet?)
„h Dental problems/bleeding gums
„h Chest pain
„h Fever
„h Dizziness/balance problems
„h Sinus problems
„h Sensitivity to light, smell, noise
„h Children born with birth defects and/or chronic illness
„h Partners with reproductive problems

We have experienced most if not all of these symptoms in Jessica. I have written letters many times on these issues to congressmen etc..
We still have no satisfaction. Jessica¡¦s Pediatrician wants to send her to John¡¦s Hopkins and/or Children¡¦s Hospital for a series of tests. About a month¡¦s worth. OH Boy!!

Has anybody had any luck with diagnosis and treatment. Or is everybody just as frustrated as I am.

I do have an article that was published in one of the more popular newsmagazines. I copied the article and gave it to my doctors. This was a very impressive article by a doctor studying this illness and treatment. When I find it again I¡¦ll post the issue and publication date for everyone. Maybe some one with more $$$$ than I have has already tried this avenue and has had success. I just don¡¦t have a lot of $$$ to experiment with. God Bless ALL!

I am a widow of an Army vet, he was not stationed in Saudi but was in HHC 137, we were stationed in Germany for 3and a half years with him, he was there 4 years total, the reason I came back early, is our daughter who is now seven was born in Germany, she has congenital hypothyroidism  and six months after her father's death from a massive heart attack, is all they told me, she is diagnosed with a birth defect in her kidneys.   I now realize, none of this is by some weird, or genetic chance, but rather caused by gulf war syndrome. while in Germany we had strange ailments, myself an emergency appendectomy, while being 3months pregnant my husband had a kidney stone  about 5 months after our daughter's birth.   He was very ill we found out about our daughters birth defect when she was 4 months old. thing seemed right over there

At first I thought, it was from the radiation left over in Germany from the Russian disaster, maybe somewhat it was, but now I realize that even though my Husband was not in the Gulf, he did clean the equipment that came back from there and received all the shots needed to go, because you see he was in HHC 137, He even transferred to this Unit so that he could go. At the last minute they changed their minds and made ready, his old Unit that He transferred from, HHC 237, so he did not get to go, He used to tease me and say, what did you do,  prey to God and make sure I wouldn't get to go to Saudi, well of Course I did every night. Perhaps that is what kept him with us as long as it did. Because from what I have read, some of the Soldiers that went over there did not get to live as long as my Husband did. My Husband Died 4 years after his ETS form the Army. At the Age of 33

But at least his Five children and myself had the pleasure of his company that long. NOW it is time for his wife to speak out and for all the loved ones left behind to have a voice. because if we don't speak out, this will be swept under the carpet, just like the Agent Orange Chemicals of the Vietnam war. this is hard for me to write all this and it has taken me two years to do so but I want to make a difference, my husband deserves that much. please write back and let me know if i am right in all this, or if I'm just plain NUTS. Please take care of yourself, and let me know how you are doing from time to time Angela..

PS. my Question is how do I get in touch, with Support Groups in my area, I live in a Small Town in SOUTH EAST OHIO. Thank you!!

    GULF WAR HELL
by: Diane Gates Dulka approx March, 1995

Let me begin at the beginning so you can better understand why I feel compelled to write. Five years ago yesterday my hell began. That was the day the Gulf War began. My husband Joe was a National Guardsman with the 143rd MP Company here in Connecticut. His unit was activated and sent to Saudi to guard Iraq POW's.

He was gone 4 months. I was left home with our then 4-year-old daughter, Lindsay. I did well when Joe was away. I held down the fort and managed to get through the long days and nights by forming support groups and networking with other wives. When Joe returned he received a hero's welcome.

We had been trying to have another baby since my daughter was two, but we had not been successful. I had one blocked tube and my ovulation time and uterus were not working on the same clock. I got pregnant one month after my husband's return from the Gulf. I was so happy. This child was a miracle. A gift from God.

When Joey III was born, he was born with a cleft lip and palate. I had never seen a child with a cleft, but I had heard of it and knew it could be repaired. The cleft never really bothered me. This child was a gift from God. Who was I to question what God had sent me?

When Joey was first born I was visited by a representative from a local cleft palate team. She was just wonderful. I connected with her instantly. She explained everything that would be done and left me with a complete feeling of confidence and ease to handle the situation.

Unfortunately, Joey's cleft became the least of my concerns. I have a bleeding disorder called ITP. Joey was born with this disorder. He was born with 11,000,000 platelets. Normal range is between 150,000,000 and 300,000,000 platelets. He was treated with steroids and blood transfusions. After 40 days, children born with this condition return to normal. Those first 40 days with Joey were touch and go.

During this time I discovered that my husband didn't have a clue as to how to handle my son's cleft. He blamed himself and suspected that something had caused this that he had been exposed to in the Gulf.

I never understood this self-blame. I never placed blame on anyone, including myself. I believed that God had sent me this child because He knew I could handle it, and I considered it a challenge. When Joey gained weight and thrived I was on a cloud!

I soon learned that my husband was so self-absorbed in guilt and shame that he couldn't bring himself to even feed his son. I had to take total control of Joey's care and feedings. I learned to be even more independent than I had been when my husband was away at the Gulf. Little did I know this was God's way of prepping me for more heartache.

After my son's second surgery, my marriage began to hit rocky points. I grew tired of doing it all with no support from my husband. My husband was slowly becoming a stranger. He was turning into a depressed, miserable man. Where did my husband go?

I soon found out. After 8 months of deteriorating health my husband was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. He was given 3 to 6 months to live. He was 37 years old.

The day this happened, the light came on for me. All my questions were answered. This explained why my husband was acting so strange. When Joey learned his fate, everything became clear to him - - why he couldn't be who he was and why he would feel like he had no control over the way he was acting. In a strange way, it was a relief to know that our marriage was as good as I remember and there really was a "why". It wasn't us to blame, it was the cancer that changed this man and strained our relationship.

I brought my husband home in June 1994 and cared for him in our home. He died on August 28, 1994. We were blessed with some time to say the things to each other that people never get to and regret it later. The time that we had gave us all time to absorb what was happening.

After Joe died I began to investigate the rumors I had been hearing about the Gulf Veterans. In a very short time I learned that 85% of the veterans were sick. Cancer rates were way too high and according to the Association of Birth Defects in Florida, Clefts and other birth defects were higher than normal among Gulf Veterans.

Birth Defect from GW ... Melissa shares about her Nephew

Spinal cord problems in children of Gulf war?

My brother served in the Persian Gulf. He came back with all the symptoms of Gulf War Syndrome. He has had 3 children.  The middle child, his only boy, has had a constant struggle to stay healthy his whole life. ( colds, flu, ear infections etc.) He couldn't sit up. Can't walk, complains of pain in legs and foot, weighs only 23lbs., has severely crossed eyes and doesn't say a word. He can hear, he just doesn't talk. He was recently diagnosed with a Syrinx...?? ( a cyst in the spinal cord caused by brain fluid leaking).
My question is has anyone else out there encountered this same disease??

There seems to be no other explanation.
Any information would be extremely helpful.
Thank you,
Melissa  <mjensen732@...>

Check into spontaneous infertility - Immune system attacking sperm

I had four strong sons from a previous marriage. I married a GWV and miscarried three. After testing on the outside sector, it was determined that my body was fighting off a foreign body of sorts.  Patty Pringle icequeennw@...
My husband and I also have unexplained infertility. My husband was a tanker in the gulf. We have had 5 miscarriages in the last 6 years. We have had semen analysis that show 76% of his sperm are severely amorphous. But getting pregnant is not our problem, we have trouble staying pregnant. The doctors told use that there is something wrong with the babies and they die before 3 mos. We are now having chromosome testing done. My test have come back normal for basic chromosome testing but his is still pending at this time. I don't know what to really ask for or what to look for.....I am not sure the doctors do either. My husband has some GW symptoms:  short term memory loss (BAD), his leg twitches (restless leg syndrome maybe), wt loss, severe acne on his back-chest-arms-neck-face-upper legs (the acne is small in size but large in numbers and it is deep in his skin with hard skin shells covering it). He went to the dr. in Germany after he returned from the gulf and was told he had prostatitis from ph imbalance due to climate changes. He has also seen a urologist here for prostatitis once. He has taken lots of oral medication  and topical medication for the acne...nothing touches it. We are still hoping to find answers to his symptoms. If anyone has any thoughts on this please e-mail us @ kenwen2@...  Thank you!  Wendy

Here is information about my children and their illnesses:

  • Let us start with my nine year old daughter: Asthma and  diabetes -no family history on either side of the family for either disease although dad now has asthma and copd- currently testing for leukemia

  • seven year old son: ADHD and failure to thrive

  • four year old  son: autism and failure to thrive

Hi margaret My answers are intertwined with your post

Margaret: The Diabetes and the autism that your daughter has could be part of an autoimmune metabolic issue - a birth defect from your husband's chemical poisoning during the gulf war

  • We lost my daughter last July. Her illness never was diagnosed. Everything they diagnosed her ended up being misdiagnosed and as such treatment for each did more harm than good.

Were any of the children premature?

  • One son was, but he was a twin (stillborn) so his being premature was completely natural

Who was being tested for leukemia? a child or your husband

  • My daughter

I think the soldiers who are in armored divisions get the bomb - weapon fumes in their eyes, and it would be an exposure to a chemical like 2-butoxyethanol. It is a teratogen, so it can cause reproductive harm.

  • Could be, it's a tough call, too many unknowns

So sorry you are going through this - No one should have to see their children suffer.

  • Thank You

Failure to thrive?

  • Inability to grow or digest most food

How are these doing now?

  • Let me put it this way, my 10 year wears a 4T. Sorry I am not real chatty right now. I don't have a lot of time so I am trying to hurry. I'm on my way out the door, but wanted to answer you now. Otherwise your email may end up buried in my inbox and who knows when I will see it. Thanks for writing Tracie

My husband was in the Gulf War and we now have a 4 month old daughter that has been diagnosed with a heart defect (Ventricular Septal Defect or VSD) and a brain defect (Lissencephaly). There is no apparent cause for these defects and I was wondering if anyone else that was in the Gulf War has had children with the same or similar problems. If you have any information on this, please feel free to email me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.  November, 2002

Robin's Daughter - of EVOS - Serious Heart Defect

I am very concerned with getting pregnant because my husband has the gulf war syndrome. He was married to another woman when he got back. His wife was pregnant twice with the first being a miscarriage and the second being severely handicapped. Now we are together and have been for a few years and i have a healthy child from a previous marriage and just experienced my first miscarriage with my husband. Now i am concerned that if i am able to carry a child that it will be severely handicapped. Does anyone have a similar story?
Feel free to email me.  10/2000 Carolyn

I am Mark and i have a similar problem, when i got out of the service i was doing ok i had just gotten divorced.  it wasn't till i got remarried that we had two healthy babies two years apart.  when we tried to have our third baby, this is when my wife had the miscarriage. she was four months pregnant. when the doctor looked at the baby she or he did not have the bones fully developed .so far we have not tried again so i don't really know if it was due to the gwi or it was fate .but what i have read on the internet is that alot of us guys with gwi do have this problem where the baby was born but had problems with their lungs or different things. as for me i am going to try again to have another baby and if in case she or he does come out not normal well i am going to give she or he all my love and leave our gov't responsible for not giving us the answers that we deserve god bless you Carolyn
mark

My daughter was born with Pierre Robin Sequence and we think it's linked to my husband's service in the Gulf War,

but nobody will listen to us.

Judy

Pierre Robin Sequence (PRS) is the name given to a combination of birth defects which usually include a small lower jaw, cleft palate and a tendency for the tongue to "ball up" in the back of the mouth.  Many of these children have breathing and feeding problems early in their lives.

Our daughter died 15 days after birth

NIOSH studies indicate 2-butoxyethanol has caused reproductive disorders in laboratory animals (rats or mice) and may have the potential for causing similar disorders in humans

I think taking the acne medication,  Accutane, would be suspect for fertility harm for men, even in the future, because it contains a butylated inert ingredient

Accutane harm - butyl component!

The topic of Vioxx led to my commenting on Accutane's harm ... and upon relooking at info I put together over a year ago ... I noticed than an inert ingredient was 'butylated'

Aha! It was like a light bulb going off.

It was the butyl ether added to gasoline that caused that to be banned in many States, end of 1970s.

It is the ethylene glycol monobutyl ether that is of similar health concerns when in paints, in cleaning products, in gun cleaners and other degreasers.

Acne? I notice, by the way, that one of the inactive ingredients of Accutane is butylated

They were looking for people harmed from Accutane & were considering a lawsuit back then.

I am very concerned about our youth taking the Accutane for mild acne. It seems to cause about the same thing as the chemical I've been studying. And even though they say just take it if you could get pregnant during 'treatments,' these things can possible cause reproductive harm, and whose to say that it is only for that time period? Too much exposure to 2-butoxyethanol and there is reproductive harm.

My friend shared some helps for teens here

Why do warnings on Accutane & info on the chemical, 2-butoxyethanol look similar? The Parallels in the Warnings of 2-butoxyethanol and Accutane which has a BUTYLATED Inert Ingredient (I think this may be why)

One woman's 'symptoms' seemed to be from a car's diesel fumes

" ... infertility?"

Autoimmune Pituitary Damage?

follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) - regulates fertility in men through sperm production and in women through ovulation

.Pituitary gland: Master gland under the brain producing various hormones

Pituitary gland: a small organ--about the size of a dime and located in the center of the brain--which makes hormones that affect growth and the functions of other glands in the body. 1

Introduction: The pituitary is a small gland inside the head, behind the bridge of the nose. Though small, it produces many important hormones that regulate basic body functions. The major pituitary hormones and their effects are:

  • prolactin--controls formation of breast milk, influences fertility, and influences bone strength;

  • growth hormone--regulates body growth, especially during adolescence;

  • adrenocorticotropin (ACTH)--stimulates the adrenal glands to produce cortisol;

  • thyrotropin (TSH)--stimulates the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones;

  • luteinizing hormone (LH)--stimulates the ovaries or testes to produce sex hormones that determine many features of "maleness" or "femaleness"; and

  • follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)--regulates fertility in men through sperm production and in women through ovulation.
2

The pituitary gland, sometimes called the master gland, plays a critical role in regulating growth and development, metabolism, and reproduction. It produces prolactin and a variety of other key hormones. These include growth hormone, which regulates growth; ACTH (corticotropin), which stimulates the adrenal glands to produce cortisol; thyrotropin, which signals the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone; and luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone, which regulate ovulation and estrogen and progesterone production in women, and sperm formation and testosterone production in men.

The pituitary gland sits in the middle of the head in a bony box called the sella turcica. The eye nerves sit directly above the pituitary gland. Enlargement of the gland can cause local symptoms such as headaches or visual disturbances. Pituitary tumors may also impair production of one or more pituitary hormones, causing reduced pituitary function (hypopituitarism). 3

Just wondered whether men with CFS or CFIDS have had difficulty having children?  And those in certain jobs, both civilian and military?

I would suspect so; however, maybe no one is making the correlation.

follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)--regulates fertility in men through sperm production and in women through ovulation.

Source wrongdiagnosis.com/organ/pituitary_gland.htm

Not the greatest site, but they get info from govt sources

Maybe there are a lot of the endocrine ailments that go back to the pituitary gland ...

even the headaches?

Anyway for those affected by
the chemical I talk about, the info says it targets the testes.  And I did get a report from one man who was strongly exposed, that he was well checked out by endocrinologists and he had zero sperm ... with no reason for such that the doctor could identify

Info restated this web page

The Americal Legion gives this short list for 'gulf war illness'

(I found it in 2003 & RECOGNIZED them ... as being what 2-butoxyethanol would do)

"Veterans have reported a variety of symptoms, such as cognitive difficulties, trouble sleeping, loss of balance, numbness in the hands and feet, and joint and muscle pain. As of yet, researchers have been unable to pin down a cause for this mysterious illness, commonly referred to as the Gulf War Syndrome."  10-6-97

Symptoms of Gulf War Illnesses (according to the American Legion)

  • Chronic Fatigue

  • Signs and symptoms involving skin (including skin rashes and unusual hair loss)

  • Headache

  • Muscle pain

  • Neurological signs or symptoms (nervous system disorders which could manifest themselves in numbness in one's arms or legs, for instance)

  • Neuropsychological signs or symptoms (including memory loss)

  • Signs or symptoms involving upper or lower respiratory system

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Gastrointestinal signs or symptoms (including recurrent diarrhea and constipation)

  • Cardiovascular signs or symptoms

  • Menstrual disorders

  • Other - a list of diagnosis for 'gulf war syndrome vets'

Gulf war vets' children ... a couple of comments:

I had a child in 1994, her father is a gulf war vet. She has had several medical problems since she has been born. She was conceived about one year after he returned. She has severe asthma, allergies, a heart murmur, stomach and gastrointestinal problems, ADHD, and she is constantly sick. Shannon
I have two little girls myself, who I believe are sick because of me.  It hurts see them when they are having the same problems as me. When they are ill and I see the tears that come out of their eyes, because their bones are aching, it urks me. Your child is a gift from god; a lot of us who want to have a baby can't and this is some of the things, that has been taken from us, besides our health. Mark

Two Daughters   Another Daughter

a dead child

My daughter was born without the embryonic fluid because it leaked out passed my wife's mucus plug. When she was born she was gray and had pneumonia and almost died. The doctor and a nurse ran into our hospital room in a frantic and acted shocked about something and said my daughter was sick. I didn't know what to say to them... my daughter too was a victim of this gulf war syndrome. She was very slow when she was growing up and I was concerned that maybe she had some kind of learning disability, but now she has improved since then and is very smart. I gave her her own brand new computer so she knows how to link up and use the internet. I am trying to give her all of the advantage I can give her because she could have genetic damage and other problems like you said that is hidden... I have always been in excellent health and is probably the reason why I am doing as good as I am, however I am really messed up and have been for 14 years. I am upset that my daughter may have have become damaged because of my military service-- and I am angry! http://www.valdezlink.com/pages/media/mad.gif

When was your daughter born?

Was she premature?

The chemical I suspect is one on the list of exposures the troops had.
2-butoxyethanol is a teratogen (harms developing fetus)

I would be angry too. I am angry. No one should suffer unnecessarily - most especially the innocent children. This is not an essential chemical and it has robbed many of the life and health they should have had. That's my take on it. And this harm is ongoing - it hasn't stopped.

I am glad that your daughter survived this.

Many times people can pinpoint when this hit them. Do you remember what you did in the military that is in connection with the start up of these odd symptoms, most especially the fatigue?

No she wasn't born prematurely, she was born actually on schedule but she was carried half way through the pregnancy with very little embriotic fluid in the womb.

The only thing that I can pinpoint as what may have started these strange symptoms is the anthax vaccine and other vaccines that we received. the reason why I believe that the vaccines had something to do with us soldiers getting sick is because I fell ill shortly after getting the shots but then also I shot my M16A1 assault rifle at the same time so who knows for sure? I may have touched that chemical on the weapon that I didn't clean so who cleaned it? I didn't clean it because someone else did it for me which was the Armory!

you said 'sore eyes'

This Coast Guardsman who was a monitor of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill cleanup is most distressed that his sperm count is zero

This is the chemical of harm, I firmly believe, for not only the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers, but for the military in the past 50 years and most especially the military in war time!

What he shared,

I was a Coast Guard beach monitor in the 1989-90 seasons.  After that I was Immediately sent to Saudi Arabia for a year in support of Desert Storm.  For ten years I have been to doctors with sometimes debilitating symptoms, and I do in fact have a "Undiagnosable" Infertility problem (zero sperm count, testosterone replacement therapy).

I have never connected the two, But I have never had answers. I have never had an answer on any of my medical problems.  I have gone to some of the best specialists and endocrinologists in Southern California, spent thousands of dollars, and I am simply "unable to father children". But none of them can say why.

The Sterility is my greatest concern. With no visible or diagnosable cause, I am 100% Sterile. All the testicular functions are intact, even the proper trace chemicals and hormones are present (except for exceptionally low testosterone). The doctors just scratch their heads when the tests show a zero sperm count. They say it's unheard of. Low counts are in the millions. I am zero.  Years and years of "i dunno's" from doctors have got me frustrated.

Partial Reply:  In looking thru the NJ Hazard info sheet (6 pdf pages) It states p.2

 Reproductive Hazard

2-butoxyEthanol may damage the testes

One reference

Check the New Yorker 1996

Also USA Today 2000, 2001  -  Reduced Sperm count - Pesticide Work Exposures

but oddly enough, that is about the same amount of time that ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (aka 2-butoxyethanol) has been in existence.

These should be banned!

And doctors need to take note of it and test for kidney and liver function regularly; have the lab tech look at the red blood cells and comment, and test more in the blood than they usually have!

Now, this chemical's harm mimics psychiatric disorder, so go get those wrongly placed in the psych wards while you're at it.

Oh, yes, grandmas who clean are harmed by it; automotive guys... Many in our country!

If I could ask God for anything, it wouldn't be for material possessions, but for good health and longevity!

Give your doctor this info

The USA doesn't think these chemicals are harmful, and the reason they must be saying that the gulf war caused no more harm to the soldiers than was found in the general population

... is because it is very likely a pandemic situation for all Americans: 2-butoxyethanol poisoning of many, many people,

and NOT ONE getting an accurate diagnosis for the source of harm

HEADLINES:  SPERM IN THE NEWS

This must be the year of the sperm.

RACHEL'S ENVIRONMENT & HEALTH WEEKLY #477 . . January 18, 1996 . .  Environmental Research Foundation

. . P.O. Box 5036, Annapolis, MD 21403 . . Fax (410) 263-8944; Internet: erf@...

The NEW YORKER magazine ran a long story[1] January 15th called "Silent Sperm" --a wry reference to Rachel Carson's SILENT SPRING, which made its debut in the NEW YORKER 35 years ago. "Silent Sperm" describes the 50% loss in sperm count that has occurred in men worldwide during the past 40 years.

Furthermore, the January issue of ESQUIRE features an article on sperm loss,[2] titled "Downward Motility."

MOTHER JONES magazine[3] also began the new year with a sperm story, titled "Down for the Count."

And the nation's newspaper of record, the NEW YORK TIMES, ran a 4-part, front-page series on increasing infertility in the U.S. January 7-10.

CFIDS, CFS, FM ...

Look for this pattern

I'm going to share with your the fatigue that doctors say they don't know what it is:

That is the proof of 2-butoxyethanol  harm:

If any of these ... or their direct family line members have the fatigue of CFIDS (acquired compensated autoimmune hemolytic anemia)

... then they are harmed not by smoking as is generally thought, but by 2-butoxyethanol type chemicals. They have been poisoned.

Blood in urine? or abnormql peripheral blood?
Small-sized red blood cells ?

and
this pattern

and more diagnostic helps

Do any recall a serious FLU???

This chemical exposure looks like the flu, and it is almost if not ALWAYS diagnosed as a virus. It might be to a lesser degree ... and people think they have the sniffles because they are coming down with a cold.

If you are not doing anything differently ... who is hanging around? Maybe they are expelling it in their respiration and you are being exposed 'second hand'?
