MACROBIOTIC CRITIQUE. Informative, high-level critical essays by a Macrobiotic insider who has never been anyone's disciple. (My medical writings are posted at <www.MacroDiet.com> under "Contributors".) To look at the long-concealed 'back' side of Macrobiotics, as a much-needed corrective to the false 'front.' Will be examining the mortally grave pitfalls of uncritical Macrobiotic teachings, especially the PRESSURE-COOKING that was mistakenly made the foundation of Macrobiotic daily practice, and continues to take an increasingly heavy toll of needless deaths, especially among the "experts" who have been practicing it longest.
"THE TRULY SKILLED SEEKER WHO MOST THOROUGHLY MASTERS A SUBJECT IS IN ALL CASES THE ONE WHO UNDERSTANDS ITS FAULTS." (Charles Godfrey Leland, translator of Heine's works, 1898.) That is the classic syndrome that has been already exemplified in many needless deaths. And they were not "tragic" deaths, because authentic tragedy requires that the tragic hero discovers what his or her tragic flaw was before they die. So far, none of the actors or the audience has perceived the lesson of these disasters.
So we shall be reviewing the 40-year history of American Macrobiotics in order to chart the course of its decline, so that we learn to correct the source of the problems, in order to achieve a Macrobiotic Reformation to get the movement back on track, so that millions of people will be
