Starting a family is a dream that many couples have after they are married. But
for some people the dream of having children is taken away by health problems.
Some couples will find that either the man, the woman, or both couples will be
infertile. Infertile means that they are unable to conceive without medical
help.
According to research 10% of couples from the United States alone experience
infertility. 1/3 of the infertile diagnoses is caused by female infertility.
Another 1/3 is connected to male infertility. And the remaining 1/3 is connected
to both partners. There are some couple who are not able to determine the reason
for the infertility.
There are many different problems that could be causing female infertility. One
of the more common is that there is damage done to the fallopian tubes. These
tubes are used to carry the oocytes from the woman's ovaries to her uterus. When
they are damaged the oocyte is not able to connect together with the sperm. The
fallopian tubes can be damaged by endometeriosis, numerous pelvic infections,
and a number of pelvic surgeries.
Female infertility can be caused when they have problems ovulating. Hormonal
changes in their bodies can prevent the eggs from being released from the
ovaries and traveling to the uterus. Doctors might be able to detect these
ovulating problems using kits that will predict ovulation periods, blood tests,
and basal body temperature charts.
Very few women will have a cervical medical condition that prevents the sperm
from traveling through the cervical canal. This could be caused by a pervious
surgical procedure or abnormal mucus production. This problem can be treated by
IUI fertility treatment.
The older women get the harder it will be for them to conceive a child. Women
only have a few eggs that will diminish over a certain period of time. Their
chances to decrease will decrease to 3-5% every year after they reach the age of
30.
