Hi there,
I've been on Depo for about 4 years, and I love it. I had spotting on
and off for the first year; not constant, but very unpredictable,
which was annoying, but it wasn't much at a time, and there were NO
cramps (woo hoo!) Now I never get my period, maybe some spotting once
a year. I have not experienced any side effects except the above,
which I LOVE. Think about it, the female body is designed to be
preggers all the time, so we're not actually supposed to have our
period very often; the modern woman has it way too much. Besides
that, all the hormones in meat have made American women have their
periods much later in life than they are supposed to. So you might as
well get rid of the awful thing!
My girlfriend also got on Depo at the same time, and though she has
gained probably 30-40 pounds, she was starting to gain before she
went on it; I think it was more of an early-20s body change. She was
a stick before, so most of the wait is good for her, I think.
Hope this helps. I think the really bad side effects kick in pretty
quickly if you're going to have them, so just try the Depo; you can
always quit if it's not for you.
Carol
